We chat about BC's new travel restrictions, hike Alouette Mountain in Golden Ears Park, and Gordon joins fellow Youtuber Henry Wang at Cultus Lake for a camp and paddle.
Hi everyone. So it's been a few weeks since we released a video. Welcome to COVID. Yeah,
we have been at home pretty much. I haven't been traveling much in our van because we,
our COVID numbers have gone up pretty dramatically in BC. So there are some new travel restrictions
and we will talk about that in our video. And also in this video, we'll share a trip,
a hike we did up to Mount Alouette at Golden Years. Couple of hikes actually. Yeah. And,
and we'll also share some footage of Gordon's
camp and paddle at Cultus Lake. So hope you enjoy this video.
So they're going to be announcing some new restrictions, travel restrictions
this week, and it will last for five weeks until the end of the May long weekend,
which is May 24th. Yeah. And essentially you are being restricted from traveling
outside of your own health region. And there are about five health regions in BC.
And so what's going to happen to people who have already booked accommodations outside
their health area, all of those reservations will be canceled. That includes hotels and
campgrounds as well. And BC ferries is restricting RVs at this point. And they've
said that specifically. You're still encouraged to stay local. All the other social distancing
rules are still in place, not getting together in a group, but these additional travel restrictions
are now in play. And hopefully the whole point in this is to bring down our COVID numbers,
which have been increasing significantly. Yeah. If you follow our channel, you might
know that at the start of April, one of the things that we've done in the past few years
is that our friend Michael and I would typically go camping. And in previous years, we've gone
tent camping and last couple of years, we've gone camping in our RV out to Manning Park.
So that's something that we are hopeful that we, you know, again, we'd be able to do this year,
but with COVID we weren't able to. And I think we actually told Mike that we wouldn't be doing,
I think I'm pretty certain we let Mike know that we weren't doing the trip this year.
I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I think so too. So, so hopefully he figured it out if we didn't.
Mickey had to step away because she was laughing again.
They, uh, so we have been doing is we did, uh, actually a couple of hikes up to Alouette
mountain. We've been getting really nice weather here in British Columbia. It's now the middle of
April and we're getting temperatures like 25 degrees. It's just like summer. Uh, however,
up in the mountains, it's still winter. So there's been some fresh snow and we'll,
we'll share that trip with you.
We're going to go up that gully and then after the ridge,
I think we're going to make it today. I'm tired too. Yeah.
Tired today. More than we expected. We're just not hiking fit right now.
Just to, to finish the trip, we actually just have to go up on the ridge behind us and a little
bit to the left. So it's only about a kilometer and a half, but you can see it's probably another
thousand, 1500 feet and we're running out of time. And steam. Lunch instead.
Okay. So up this slope, come out in a little call, is my memory correct?
And then one long, long climb to the top.
And the other thing I had an opportunity to do was, uh, join Henry Wang. And if you've
watched some of our previous videos, you know, Henry and his colleagues, uh, will go out to
lakes and do lake cleaning, basically diving in the lakes and hauling out garbage.
So I had an opportunity to join Henry on one of his trips to Cultus Lake early at the start of
the month. And then I got out for a early morning paddle, uh, which was really enjoyable. And of
course, part of the trip about being camping out with Henry is his dogs. Daisy and Maggie
are just a lot of fun and are probably like two of the best camp dogs you could ever have. So
we'll share that video with you and hope you enjoy it.
Make sure you keep an eye out for the footage with the ducks, because there's something that
Gordon captured on film. And we're not sure what it is, but you might know what it is.
Top of the morning to you. Thank you so much for watching our video. Hope you enjoyed it.
And if you did, please be sure to give us a thumbs up and subscribe to our channel if
