We got 2,500 pounds of ahi, swordfish, and inshore species to catch. It's gonna take all of us to get these pelagics done. Shane and I went out. We went all the way out to Olympus. Got a bunch of ahi. That's a ways out. Yeah. You guys wanna go out there. We can, me and Shane, can shoot out here to the deep. Divide and conquer. Are you sure you wanna break up the forces? Yeah. Yeah, I am. If we both go in the same area, put all our eggs in one basket, and there's nothing there, then we're screwed. What are we gonna do about the inshore fish? Well, let's focus on the pelagics right now. One boat can head to the drill ships. The other one can hit the rigs. I'll meet you guys down at the dock. All right, buddy. Why is all the good fish so far away? If it wasn't though, I guess everyone would do it, right? That's right. We're on the hook for a lot of ahi. So we're sending Casey and Jeff out to the area where my old man used to fish, where we know there's tuna. Shane and I are gonna hunt closer to town. Hopefully we can get on fast. All righty, boys, we're at a drill ship. Drill ship, huh? And it's at 751 foot. Hey, nice. They're really up there. Any structure in the water is gonna attract fish. Hey, we're gonna put a ballyhoo on that one. Okay. Ballyhoo is known to school up around the drill ships. We'll slip a couple live bait in the mix see if we can't troll and lure the ahi up to the surface. There he goes. All right, here we go. Go ahead and throw it? Yes, sir. Essentially, these things are a little self-sustained city. Just like our crab boats. We're our own little city when we're out on the grounds. Seems like a good place to fish. Josh and Shane caught some big ahi out here, and you can see why right away. Big oil rigs and massive structures. Combine that with the fact the ocean floor slopes up, and that gives you upwinds bringing the nutrients up in the currents. It's like a tuna paradise. You on, Jeff? I'm on. Here we go. You're on good, huh? We're set. Atta boy. You see that tip bouncing like that? That's usually a confirmed ahi like that when that tip is bouncing. That means he's circling. So he took a real good run, then he went way, way, way, way, way back down. Might be a big one, huh? Yeah, that's a big one. He's gonna be a net. Yeah, we're down there. I've fought fish quite a bit on stand-up like this, but when you're fighting big ahis like this on light tackle, you gotta play that tip, you gotta play everything. It's all body, so it's gonna be a long fight if I can get him up. Jeff's arm's gonna be twice the size of Shane's by the time he's done with this fish. How do you think it'll be twice the size? No, they're only gonna be twice the size now. We're the real muscle around here. Shark might have got him. Orange is really mean. I'm getting down on line, boss. Give it a little more. Jeff. There's nothing else we can do. I don't know if shark grabbed him or what, but he got real...heavy. I can't do anything about him down here on the end. He stripped that reel. He stripped this reel. Strip of reels, when you get down, you basically see the aluminum spool. Strips all the line right off of it. Once you run out of line, you lose the fish for sure. Sometimes you set the drag too tight, too much tension, snaps the line, snaps the rod, so you just kind of take that risk. When you get to that point, you got to hit the brakes a little harder. Is he gone? He's coming your way. Here we go. He's right there. We're at it. He's up here. Let's focus on this fish, okay, boss? We've waited a long time to get a bite. Let's get this thing. Careful. The first one was a bust, but who knows? We're going up. Let's see what happens. I think they look like, man, it looks like fad, but just like artificial man-made structures with a bunch of holes in a dome, and they'll set that on the sea floor for marine life. So far, these drill ships close to shore have not been consistent with the ahi. The only place we can count on right now are the deepwater rigs. That's where Casey and Jeff are. But maybe we even look for underwater structures in the wrong spots. If that creates fish aggregate, I mean, I think it'd be smart just to go and see if we can't find out where this company's from and go pay him a visit. Yeah. Work all day for a bite. The last thing you wanna do is get too aggressive and blow it, and then that big money fish is gone, so we gotta take the time on him, we take the time on him. We manufacture reefs, juvenile habitats, snorkel reefs. We do all kinds of things. I actually have some pictures of the fads in this file. What are fads? Fad is a fish aggregating device. Here's a shot drawing. We have an anchor at the bottom of 2,000 feet of line in the fad. Wow. And so to bring in, to really make good habitat, you want to have a lot of structure under the surface. Makes sense. If these fads are getting dropped in 2,000 feet of water, that's not only the right depth for tuna, but also the right depth for swordfish. We've been trying to catch, but everywhere we've been, the fish haven't been. Where are you guys fishing out of? Fishing out of Venice. Venice. What kind of boats are you on?
