HERE'S HOW Japan's Volleyball Team DESTROYED Their Opponents !!! Women's VNL 2025. Japan had an outstanding performance in the first week of the 2025 Women's Volleyball Nations League. They remained unbeaten, winning all four of their matches without dropping a single set, finishing with a perfect 12–0 set ratio. This dominant run placed them at the top of the standings after Week 1, ahead of strong teams like Italy. Their matches, including a convincing 3–0 win over the Dominican Republic, showcased their excellent form and strong team coordination. In the video linked above, viewers can see a clear example of how Japan controlled every set with precision and confidence, proving why they are early favorites in this year’s VNL.
Inch as good as a mile, seemingly.
Carabao keeps that in play.
Chance now.
It's very close to the net.
Carabao pops it up again, and Martinez will try to finish.
Fantastic pick-up by Urasawa.
What a rally this is.
Still can't get through.
Unbelievable. Still we go.
Gail is smiling playing that.
Free ball.
Oh, and eventually.
Four hours later, what a rally on both sides of the net.
And Japan are level.
I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. This was tremendous.
And for a while, Airi, the middle blocker for Japan,
was part of every single rally contact.
Making a block touch, playing the ball.
How do you do that?
No wonder she can smile. What a finish.
She bounces this ball. What a...
Right between the legs of Yegovic.
Gets the side out.
But through a veil of tears, they took the point.
Clever by Brannon Martinez, but somehow, you can guess who's second is there.
And Japan take the next point with a follow-up.
Nice little roll here.
And sometimes the team rallies around a player
who's faced some, you know, internal match adversity.
Yoshino now, front court, still recovering.
I feel like they want this game to go a little longer.
Out of the classroom.
This has got to go over. At least it is.
Good defense, but a chance now.
Shimomura goes level.
Oh, my word, that's racing to get in the face.
And still, Japanese-like defense by the Netherlands.
What a great point, best of the match.
Ishikawa puts it away.
My word, she doesn't.
What a dig that was.
And now, eventually, it goes to ground.
Akimoto, 18 years old, on seemingly for the Kudo glass for Japan.
Applies the finishing touch.
The defense in this rally, the relentlessness to not give up on the ball.
Take note at home.
And Akimoto.
And then Yoshino gets it down so fast.
And it's reset points like that.
This angle to go off second touch.
Amazing.
Look at this dig.
And then Yoshino pounds it away.
Takes, but it's an overpass.
A chance for Japan to finish it.
Back row.
And win the set.
25-20.
But I still think they're playing some of their best volleyball of the week.
For sure.
But, you know, just hang with them as long as you can.
Canada did that until about the 20-point mark.
Five free.
Yeah, she's on the outside.
Watch her run all the way around.
Out of system.
She's going to get the swing at it.
She should be warmed up.
Oh, I thought that was on the ground.
Nice dig by Merman, but it's over.
Here, here, here.
Joust at the net.
Kept alive.
No approach.
Still got it over.
Free ball chance Canada.
All the attackers ready.
Middle attack.
Kept alive Fukumura.
Ishikawa hammers it.
Finishes the rally.
Man, Japan was so solid on block defense in this rally.
Great pick up there.
I can't believe she got it up.
And then another good dig, but they also got a solid.
In the service line and arrived.
Bang on cue.
Well, this is a great back row set.
Seki leading Wada, giving her soul.
Top scorer in the match, Geiner now on serve.
What a good serve and a good pick up.
Shusaku has got to move very fast.
But somehow dubbed by Japan.
But here's another wave of attack.
Oh, what a great block that is.
Akimoto.
Akimoto, 18 years old, comes in.
And that is the kind of block that Japan is going to feed off of.
Three blocks entering this match.
Absolutely shuts down one of the biggest hitters for the Dominican Republic.
Interpretational, Ariyama.
Going deep.
Wada, perfectly placed shot.
That is from Yoshino.
Well, the thing is, they'll practice that.
Oftentimes they'll have like buckets or markers in the back corner of the court.
And in drills, you try to aim for them.
And I'm sure Yoshino has hit them many times.
Make sure if there's a chance, you take it.
You have to.
How many options do you want?
Fantastic back row attack from Japan.
Right now, you can just see how in control of this match they are.
It's their ball control.
It's their brand.
Again, she's got so many players going this week.
For sure.
O'Reilly, one hand set.
Van Rijk drills it, but nice pickup.
Wada.
Hammers it.
And O'Reilly was there, but couldn't quite pull it up.
Yeah, it's too bad she couldn't reward herself with another chance
after that great one-handed set.
Wada, just so...
Musalac.
Knew where she wanted to put it.
And she absolutely arrowed it.
Well, Japan knows that they're expecting tougher serves from the Serbian.
So that's in their mind.
They're prepared for that.
You could see it coming.
That's exactly where Wada wanted it.
It's exactly how they would have practiced.
And the ball is dispatched with interest.
14-6.
A rare prize point.
Shimomura on the slide.
It's all hands on deck at the moment, it seems, for the Netherlands.
They haven't got enough people, it seems.
Have they really got six players on court?
The ball just going back.
Another free ball for Japan.
It's taken away by Yoshino, just coming on to it.
The court just opened up.
And she's into double figures.
Yeah, and Shimomura had a couple cracks at it here in the front row.
But it's the back row attack there from Saito that just puts it away.
Top score in the match, though, with eight.
Not bad for someone who was nervous beforehand.
But she's taken to it really well.
Just as her coach could have predicted.
And anyone who's watched her in the SV League would know as well.
Yeah, and Saki right now, I just love the offense she's running.
She's changing it up.
All of the hitters right now are involved.
There's Ishikawa.
We see Wada get a couple balls.
We see, you know, Yukiko.
As the Dominican Republic said, Japan is on another level compared to every team.
They're hanging with them right now.
Into that one.
And here comes Geiler.
In off the line.
That's very close.
A little joust for Shimomura.
They have a great experience.
But it's still not going to ground.
And now it is.
Yoshino.
Cross court.
A place in Ottawa.
There were some plays here.
One really tight.
Yukiko.
Yukiko Wada.
Ready to serve.
Great serve.
Here's Mitrovic.
Recycled by Canada.
Mitrovic.
Push to cross for Yoshino.
Canada digs it.
But can't get on the other end of the play from Mitrovic.
Kudeti, he's constantly said from Mitrovic, he needs you to pick up some of these balls.
Be a grinder of a player.
She was there.
Watch this.
Offense, cross court attack.
She gets a piece of it.
