A Delaware County man accused of trying to silence his neighbor's dogs with poisonous meatballs is speaking out.
Tonight we are hearing from the Delaware
County man who faces charges for
allegedly trying to silence his
neighbors dogs with poisonous meatballs.
It all happened last month in Broomall.
And tonight, that man defending his
actions, blaming what he did on a
condition that he says he has. Action
News reporter Jessica Cartalia live for
us in Broomall with the details and what
this man has to say. Jessica?
Yeah, Gray. He says it was a big
mistake. He admits to trying to poison
those dogs and he'll appear here in
court next month.
63-year-old Mark Nan is seen here on
surveillance video throwing meatballs
laced with rat poison into his
neighbor's yard in Broomal, Delaware
County. I'm disgusted. I'm uh you know I
I totally regret what I did. It was uh
you know stupid. Nent posted bail after
he was arrested and admitted to trying
to poison Hogi and Sushi.
He says he called police multiple times
to complain. Every time someone walks
by, the dog goes berserk. The dog's
owner, Joshua Hunter, says two weeks
before this incident, his family found
hundreds of pieces of chocolate
scattered across their yard. Chocolate
can be fatal for dogs. No one's ever
come to my door. I didn't get a letter
of apology after any of this happened. I
mean, we're just we're just floored from
this. I hope justice is served. I really
do. And I think the whole neighborhood
would like to see that. Also, Nent faces
a number of charges, including cruelty
to animals. Since this video circulated,
he says he's received death threats and
wants to bring attention to a condition
he has called misophonia. It's a
neurological disorder where certain
noises, usually things like breathing or
a lot of repetitive noises u that are
outside of you, things that you can't
really control. And what happens is
these noise and the repetitive nature of
these noises can cause an intense amount
of internal discomfort. Hunter, who
suffers from ALS, says since the two
incidents, his children are scared to be
outside. Nothing is peaceful now for us
living here.
And police tell me if you ever find
yourself in a similar situation, your
best bet is to try to talk with your
neighbor before taking next steps. As of
today, both neighbors tell me they have
never spoken to one another in Broomall.
