This is where we hang out in the graveyard.
It's
been a wild ride.
I never expected this to be part of my life.
This is where I get out here on the street.
Hi, my name's Dave Newman.
This is Newman House.
I created it back in 1993, I guess,
after a divorce.
I started with three tombstones.
I got a lot of unusual things,
all flea market, thrift store, yard sale.
There's nothing to scare me out here,
not even my little ghoul.
I'm 72 years old and still climbing out the window
and doing my thing here.
I even worked graveyard shift at the post office
for 36 years and still did this.
Wow.
Look at the tail.
What, with the spiders?
Whoa.
That's so smooth.
Took about three weeks to put together
and it's been every day.
Even when it's raining, there's been people here.
Dead man tells no tales.
It's like the Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come.
And they've been coming!
Whoa, that's a big snake.
That's a cobra.
Is it a cobra?
Well, my favorite part was that spider over there
and those big spiders up there.
We love this. Halloween is our favorite holiday.
So when people take the time to do stuff like this for the community
and make it free for everybody to come out, it's just so nice.
I like the mermaid skeleton,
because I've seen all kinds of skeletons, I've seen all
kinds of mermaids in my time, but I've never seen a mermaid skeleton.
I do other holidays too.
I do Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Christmas.
I'm the spooky house, I'm the hippie house,
because I have peace signs out here throughout
the year.
Just driving by, people use my house as a landmark.
It's been in my family for 125 years.
We came here back in 1867 to the property across the street.
Five generations have lived in this house.
I brought it back to life.
Never met my grandmother, but yes,
there are two older spirits in the house.
If you want to learn more, just come talk to me.
I'm on Facebook, Newman House.
My address is 100 Raymond Avenue
in Evesham Township, New Jersey.
My granddaughter is somewhere around here.
Would love to take it over,
but it's a full-time job to maintain it.
but it's fun.
This is Tessa.
Say hi, Tessa.
Hi.
I really hope I can keep doing this with my grandfather
or much longer.
I mean, the people you meet are fantastic.
As long as I stay this young, mentally,
I hope to continue doing this as long as I can.
