Hi 👋 we're Chris and Bec, the two salty sea lovers behind Salt and Charcoal. Exploring life through the lens, living in our 4wd Toyota Coaster Bus – “Bunji”.
Travelling Canada in an RV is one of the most iconic road trips in the world,
and you won't believe the level of comfort in a rental motorhome.
With the luxury extension setting, large windows, full kitchen,
awning and modular dining, come have a look at just how comfortable camping can be.
Hello, we're Chris and Bec. Usually we travel Australia in a bus,
but for the next two weeks we're travelling Canada in this beautiful RV.
So come with us as we give you a tour on the inside and the outside.
It is a class C large motorhome from Fraser Way RV.
We absolutely loved it. Let's get into it.
Come on inside. Let's have a look.
Look at how much room we have in this house.
Like, I can't even touch the sides.
We're gonna get straight to the tour and we're gonna start with the kitchen.
As you can see, we have a large kitchen with a lot of room, including a double sink.
Fraser Way RV, they supply everything that you need,
so you don't have to worry about buying dishwashing liquid or soap or anything like that.
We have a microwave, which is like,
I can't even fathom the fact that there's a microwave in here, and an oven.
So you can get to baking, you can bake some cookies while you're travelling Canada.
Any luxuries you have at home, you've got them in the RV.
Three burner stove top, and it runs on gas,
but Fraser Way RV supply the gas.
Probably won't really need to replace it,
depending on how much cooking and hot showers that you're having.
All your knives and forks, including a can opener.
Thank goodness they don't have the flick tops that we have in Australia.
In Aussie, we have tabs to open our cans, you know.
We're lazy, maybe.
All of your utensils.
I mean, look at this.
First aid kit.
We don't need to supply all this stuff ourselves.
We've got spare fuses.
Like, they've thought of everything.
A fire stick.
By the time we make this video, we will have probably left Canada.
We can show you all of the campfires that we had.
And you're able to run your toaster on the AC power.
If you're not plugged in, you do need to run the generator to run the toaster,
or to run the air conditioner and the microwave.
But pretty much everything else runs on 12 volt.
So in here, we have all your fry pans, saucepans, cutting board.
Everything you need, including a colander.
Where the magic happens, bedroom.
They supplied towels, a spare sheet.
We've got two dooners here in case it gets cold.
And there's a spare one in here.
So obviously, it can get cold in Canada.
But we are here in summer, and it has actually been extremely warm.
We haven't had to run the heater.
It's just nicely insulated in here.
It's very comfortable.
We are warm enough with one dooner at night.
So it's been, yeah, really comfortable to sleep here.
So in the bedroom area, we got heaps of storage.
Look at that.
That is a massive amount of storage.
Thank goodness.
So I have a lot of clothes.
The understatement of the century.
This will be my clothing area, and then this will be Chris's.
We have storage, and we've got Chris's Kindle and his surf watch.
We've got USB charging right there.
We've got light switches and a exhaust fan.
So you've also got a curtain.
If maybe there's some light coming in or something,
you can just close this up and have a really good night's sleep.
A quick break to say that this video is kindly sponsored by Fraserway RV Rentals.
It was on our bucket list to travel van lifestyle in Canada,
and we were so grateful to do it in luxury.
We chose this company not only because they are the largest RV rental fleet in Canada,
they also have an excellent reputation and their family owned with 24-7 support.
Plus, we love what they stand for.
Thanks for your support, guys.
Let's get back to the tour.
All right.
Here is the whole kitchen dining area, and it also doubles as a bed as well.
It sleeps five, this caravan.
So you can have a couple of kids up here or even an adult down here as well.
But it is a huge space.
Easily fit four people here and another person there.
Flip that off.
Go down.
So smooth.
You don't even need to take the clouds off.
And it goes down.
And then you put these two over the top and you've got a bed.
Flip that back on.
So we do a lot of work from our laptops.
The great thing about it is we're going to have enough space for Bec and I to work.
We have power up here.
Can you even see that we've already got a power board in there?
And a little captain's chair.
You can sit here like this.
Move your tee away.
Look out over the expanse over there and make sure kids aren't acting up down there.
Shoot away any bears.
Off you go.
Go away.
Very handy.
You've got this little thing here.
So you can have plenty of flow without any flies coming in.
It's really the inside.
Oh, the last thing as well.
This really cool thing.
If you look up.
But if you want a little bit of air, you just open this.
Nothing quite like these beautiful Canadian leaves.
You can tell why they're the iconic leaf on the flag.
They're so beautiful.
Come on in.
I know it probably doesn't look massive on the video,
but this is relatively huge for an RV bathroom.
I washed my hair in here this morning and it was perfect.
We got hot water, everything.
You need to close this when you're having a shower.
Otherwise, water's probably going to go everywhere.
All right, let's talk toilet stuff.
So it's a fully functioning toilet.
All of the stuff goes down to a separate tank,
which you can dump at any dump spot at the RV parks around Canada.
There's no cassette.
It's just a simple hose.
Coming from Australia, I'm not going to lie.
I'm a little bit scared of bears.
I'm terrified of them.
And the other night, I was so grateful to be able to have a shower
and go to the toilet in here late at night,
rather than having to walk outside and go to the outside toilet.
So this is crazy that there's a whole vanity going on.
You can brush your teeth here.
You can wash your face here.
You can store all of your toiletries up here.
Hello.
Nice big mirror there.
So I can put my makeup on, no worries.
Exactly.
We can leave the house, no food on the face.
Also, you can hang your clothes up in here.
I can't believe we have hangers.
That is rare.
So we didn't empty this out, sorry.
Don't let them know that we live.
We eat food.
So yeah, we've got some frozen veg in there.
Amazing to have a freezer when you're traveling.
If you don't, you know.
We got a huge fridge going on, ample space for everything that you need.
All right.
So here's our main switchboard where we kind of control everything.
And I'll just take you through all the nice little gadgets.
First things first, this is super cool.
And what a lot of caravan companies in Canada don't actually provide you for free.
And this is the use of the awning.
This is an electric awning that retracts on the button.
You got lighting for the awning here.
Got a water heater.
So that's hot water.
That's run on gas.
You just flip that on and it starts in 10 minutes.
You also have water.
We've got our lights here.
You also have these little buttons here that tell you how full your tanks are.
Grey water, black water.
We'll talk a little bit about that later.
Now, the great thing about this RV is it does have batteries.
So you can run lights and everything like that when you're not connected into power.
However, you do have a gen set here as well, which is super easy to work.
You just press start and it starts.
One thing to note though, in Canada, you can't use the gen set everywhere.
So you just got to be sure that you're using it at the right time.
That is all our switch panel.
Now let's go check out some other cool stuff.
Where are we going?
So obviously much of BC is absolutely epic to drive through.
You are on a road trip anyway.
So it's really important that kind of all this is comfortable.
Our RV back in Australia, not as comfortable to go on road trips.
So to sit here in this luxury, honestly, is absolutely amazing.
We've got cruise control.
You need a powerful engine to boost up those hills, which we do have.
We've got air con.
We have Apple play and Android audio, Apple audio, the maps and stuff like that.
We've got charging points here as well.
And we've got massive cup holders for the copious amounts of coffee that we drink.
Also, we've been storing some snacks in here so that we don't get in hangry arguments.
100% snacks are the key to a successful relationship.
But either way, this is a nice, comfortable spot.
Driving it, the RV is quite large, okay?
So you have quite large rear vision mirrors as well.
This probably was one of the main hurdles for us to decide to do this bucket list road trip was,
is it going to be okay for us to drive on the left hand side?
What's happening with licenses, all that sort of stuff.
First things first, you don't need any special licenses to come to Canada.
You don't need an international driver's license or anything special.
You can come in, show your full license that you have in that particular country
and be able to drive away that day.
Now, these RVs as well can be driven on just a normal car license.
You don't need any special truck license.
Now, driving on the right hand side, I thought it was going to be a little bit difficult,
but it is not.
Probably in the first day, we took it a little bit slow.
I got a handle on it very quickly.
This one is automatic, so it's super easy.
It's just a hand drive.
You just put it to drive there.
It has a special button in case you're driving up and down hills, which we are a lot in BC.
Runs on gasoline.
All the cars though, by the way, and this is huge for Fraser RV,
is all the vehicles are only two years old.
They only stay in their fleet for two years and then they're moved on.
So pretty much every single vehicle you jump in is literally brand new.
We're out here now for the outside walkthrough.
And the first thing that you will notice is we have this epic awning.
And one thing you got to note about Fraser Way RV is that they allow the use of the awning for free,
which isn't necessarily the case with some RV companies in Canada as well.
So when you're booking, definitely check the fine print.
If you're going with anyone else and you need it on a day like today,
well, it's 30 plus degrees.
So this is a fully automatic retractable awning.
You press one button, comes out.
You can see the LED light strips along the top here.
And then we also have a light out there.
Basically, you have levelers provided as well.
You put them underneath the wheels and reverse up onto them to make sure
the bus is level on uneven ground.
Here's where you get some good goodies and where you can pack a lot of things in.
So this is awesome.
This is a table right here that you can take out and put out.
You get two chairs, a bucket.
You get an axe for firewood.
There's a lot of places that allow campfires here in Canada.
Huge plus.
You have a chop here and all your wheel stuff right here.
This is a great space to store your bags and everything like that on the outside.
We used it a lot.
Even your dirty gear when you're going for hikes, all that sort of stuff.
Right here is where you fill up your portable water tank.
There's a huge portable water tank.
For us, it took about maybe three days until we needed to fill up.
Now that was heavy use of the water.
Maybe with a family, it might be a little bit less, but that's how much it took.
This side is the business end with all your electrical, water and sewerage.
So this is up to 30 amps and they also give you a converter for 15 amps.
So at any campsite, you can connect up and it'll be right.
Different campsites have different amperage in Canada.
So that's not the case in Aussie.
That's interesting to learn.
You need different adapters.
That's all provided.
This is the grey water and black water as well.
Some campsites include sewerage in there with black water included.
So it's absolutely perfect.
Just click that in, pull those levers and it all comes out.
I'm not going to go deep into it.
This one, water hookup, gas tank.
I think it's around about 150, 200 litres.
I'll put that up on the screen now, but in our car versus RV comparison.
So go check that video out.
We talk all about fuel comparison, everything like that.
So check that out.
We have an outdoor shower.
Well, that's a luxury feature for sure.
Again, you can see this big thing.
This is the side extension.
It makes such a huge difference to the inside space.
And this is the main difference with one of the large models as well.
It doesn't look like much, but it makes a huge difference.
Now, finishing off, you've just got some more storage compartment,
plenty of storage to put all your gadgets in.
And that's pretty much it for the outside.
Thank you so much for watching our RV tour, guys.
We're interested to hear from you.
