Teachers, have you ever given students full control of a creative project and just watched
what they do?
That's what I did on Day 3 of our French Poetry Project.
I gave them thick paper, markers, paint, and I let them use AI tools like ChaiGPT or DeepSeq.
But first, I showed them how to use AI the right way.
Because with AI, the better your question is, the better your answer is.
Then I stepped back.
No pressure.
Some students worked hard right away.
Others were distracted, pretending to work.
You know how that goes.
But in the end, the deadline will speak for itself.
One student even gave me her final project on Day 3.
It looked great, full of color and design, but it felt rushed.
She still had time to improve it.
So why finish so early?
That's when I knew I needed to change something.
On Day 4, I told them exactly how I would use ChaiGPT to help evaluate their project.
Not because I'm lazy, but because they need to learn how to use AI with purpose.
In the future, a good diploma is not enough.
If you don't know how to use AI, someone else will get the job.
Then I gave them a new challenge, not from ChaiGPT, but from me.
I asked them to write their poem in French cursive, handwriting, just like we did at
school in France.
They were excited, and some started practicing right away.
It made the project feel more personal and special.
So if you want to try this in your classroom, I'm giving away everything I used, for free.
You'll get all my planning documents from Day 0 to Day 4, the same prompts I gave my
students, the AI evaluation prompt I used, and my full French cursive bonus challenge
handout.
It's all ready for you to use.
No matter what language you're teaching, you'll find the link in the description and in my
bio.
And let me know what you'd like to see next.
Thanks for following me in this AI PBL challenge, and I'll see you in the next one.
