Well, happy girl here sharing what happened this week! Thank you for being here and sharing your love for all things French, the slow life, countryside living and all that we share!
[Music]
Bonjour everyone. I hope you are all
doing well. We are truly enjoying the
last days of spring here. I can't
believe it is almost summer. Time goes
by so fast, but I am truly enjoying my
garden this year. If you've been
following me for a while, you know I
have been working hard in the past years
to create the garden that I had in my
mind, in my head. I am not a talented
gardener. I'm learning, but I am really
enjoying how it is starting to kind of
create itself. I'm going to do a video
about it, I think, cuz there's a few
things I learned about that. And the
other thing that I am so happy with is
that I seem to be able to create and
find more slow moments for myself. Last
year has felt extremely hectic and I was
starting to miss the quiet and slow
moments that we had when we just moved
here. This year I feel like I am finally
able to surrender to the gentle slower
pace of life here in the countryside.
And I am so enjoying the peacefulness
that it's giving me, my body and my
soul. And my lovely cat Tigret is always
just such a good example. She is such a
nice mentor and showing me to just, you
know, take time, lie down, enjoy being
in the present moment. I'm so grateful
that she chose us as her home when we
found her in the street a few years ago.

What?
The lights
now.
[Applause]
Call me crazy, but it's in the middle of
the night and I woke up because I keep
hearing
the sheep
And it's raining,
but they usually don't make that much
noise.
So, I'm
see I hear a baby.
I just wanted to add in the voice over
why I'm going out. It has happened
before that a sheep got lost. It got
through the hedges into our field and
then the other ones were calling him and
it was a very frightening situation for
the sheep and I was afraid this had
happened to the baby. So that the baby
was in our field and the mom in the
actual field and I just wanted to make
sure that that wasn't the case. I hear
the baby and then the mom and she's now
quiet.
Maybe because she's seen my light.
But something just feels wrong because
they're calling each other all the time.
I do have my boots though. I never go
into this high grass
barefoot or
not dressed properly cuz they're not
living in here.
See, I just have no clue how I'm going
to
Maybe I can go up here.
They're dark brown.
There's no way I'm going to be able to
see them. What's What's wrong, baby?
What is her?
What is her?
So, in any case, it is not lost. They
seem to be in the same
in the same farm field still.
So, I'm going to see if I can see from
the other side.
Let's go into the village and to the
other end of the farm field.
Still hear the baby,
but I can't see anything.
Oh, what's wrong?
I mean, there is technically a
thunderstorm.
Maybe it's just scared. But look, it's
crying all the time.
Breaks my heart. Probably nothing.
Anybody that understands animals will
probably tell me this is normal, but I
haven't heard it like this before.
All kinds of animals out here in the
evening. So,
And since it's technically
a thunderstorm, which is really far
away, it's not very dangerous. But I
might better not go into that field.
Quiet.
Okay. I can't see anything anyway. Yeah.
See, I think I see the baby. I think I
see the eyes. I can't see anything, but
I think it's looking at me.
I could see the reflection. So, it looks
like they're just both in the in the
farm field. Really?
Yeah.
That's your eyes, mama. And that's
baby's eyes.
So then I can't help you. I don't know
what's wrong.
Yeah, just go to sleep now. I'm happy
you're both in the same field.
Okay, back to bed.
Everybody's fine.
Oh, I'm such a city girl worried about
animals that can perfectly take care of
themselves probably. So, thanks for
going on this night trip with me and
let's go back to sleep.
The sheep turned out to be fine in the
morning when I checked. But a very
exciting thing happened that next day,
our farmer came to hay the field behind
our house and I got to go on the tractor
and actually mow the grass. That's not
how you say it. I know, but I'm a city
girl. I'm reminding you. It was so much
fun.
Huh?
[Laughter]
Good girl.
What's up?

This farm work, hay season, everything
that comes with it must be one of the
things I enjoy most about living in the
countryside. The work on the farm, even
though we do not live on the farm, but
we have four farms in our little
village, give structure to the year.
There are predictable things that need
to be done every day, every week, every
month, and every year. And somehow I
find so much comfort in it. I don't
know. It It's one of the things I really
really love. So, I was so grateful that
John let me drive the tractor and give
this a go. I've been wanting to do that
for so long. So, who knows? I might be
doing that again. Thank you so much for
watching this video, for being part of
my life here in the French countryside.
I will see you again very soon with a
new video.
