Check it out we found our friends from Lithuania. All the way up here they're
doing the spiritual variant weird.
Bon Camino guys. Welcome to day 11. Haven't found a shell yet. Just left the
hostel. The Amoresmo hostel. One of my favorite places we've stayed. We don't
die in traffic. We ran into our friends from Lithuania that we've been bumping into along the trail.
I think it's helping a lot.
Like that last video, I filmed completely the wrong direction with the wrong camera.
It's been good. Oh the bed last night was so amazing. I did wash my hat last night
which I've done many times but this time I actually put it in the dryer and it's
crunked by half. So we're still gonna find out how much I'm gonna be wearing
it today. I'm sure it will stay on because it is small but I did like it
when it covered my nose and it doesn't cover my nose. It covers my eyes now. I can't
believe I'm out of breath and we've only walked about 500 feet. Oh man there's a
big hill today so we'll see what happens but I got a good attitude and today's
gonna be a long day but we can't check in till 4 p.m. it's 9 a.m. and it should
take us about four to five hours to get there. So we'll see what happens but I'm
excited. We've got our first arrow of the day and look at that the Camino is still
providing coffee although I did have to lean over that was a little rough. Hey
buddy and let the hills begin. We've taken a vote and by we I mean Kate and
apparently I am NOT going to be singing little foot big foot get out the way all
day today. No, there would be a stick and there would be a dented head. I have to come up with some new material.
Some people just don't appreciate any talent. I like them when they're in your head. Little foot big foot get out the way. We'll be walking the Camino all day.
There's that bridge we walked by like a hundred hours ago. This one here? No, whatever hill we're going to be climbing.
That's motivational. Hey, let's go that way and we've got a nice little trail marker there. Follow that blonde.
Into the Goblin Forest you go. Maybe the Goblin Forest was in New Zealand but
this is still pretty cool. 84 and a half kilometers to go. 84 for Katie. Kind of
want to buy a villa up here. There's the arrow telling us to watch out because
it's a shared road for a while. But this marketer right here is brilliant. Foot
massages. Camino elevator music. Off we go. This is by far the most pilgrims we've
seen at one time. We got like three or four ahead of us. We got like a group of
four or six behind us. Other than that we've had a lot of a lot of nice
peaceful walking time. Pretty good uphill. About 15 minutes. Now we got this
beautiful slight incline. A little flat in the shade. Cool breeze coming through.
Even more people. We've heard there's gonna be more and more as we get closer
as the other paths from the Camino start to link up. Some of our friends had to be put up in three
different hotel rooms because they couldn't find any. Yeah, so we got the
five-oh up here. We're safe along the Camino. That's cool. I don't think I'd
get rid of my stuff just yet because we've got a long ways to go. He's always leaving me
behind. Big foot, little foot, get out the way. That's my penance for keep walking while you're filming.
They say the Camino gives. Unfortunately today what it's giving is hills. I just
noticed some smart-ass took the distance sign out and put an infinity symbol in
there. I really better catch up. That's gonna suck.
Camino's giving us a choice. Turn left for 70 meters of a brutal hill. Turn right
for 360 meters of not quite so bad. We're going left. Let's do it. And we know what we
just signed up for. 70 meters at a 15% grade. Wayne Camino. But we would probably pick
the other one at the beginning of the Camino. This one, we can do it. I would always pick this one.
It was an innocent tree. I was not. You are now. Say it's stepping sister. Yeah it's steep but really the only
bad part of this hill is it's a loose dirt and gravel so it's steep enough that it's hard to
get traction. Feet are slipping a little bit. Votoroll. Victory. Good job honey. Air high five.
Boom. We didn't even die. Look at this place. Goodness. That's beautiful.
That was worth the hike up. Yep. All right let's hit it. And then we come down the other side into
I don't know exactly how old this bridge is but it's old. And it's really beautiful. As is this
town. I said beautiful even more times than I said awesome. And tons of fish just like everywhere
around here. I thought these were crypts or something. Family crypts along the way. But actually
they're they store their corn there. Let it dry and that's their grain storage. Everybody has one.
There's tons of them. And they're all a little different. Way less creepy than everybody having
bodies in their front yard. And then the brutal downhills on slippery granite. Hey there's a
little steps. I'm gonna take those. We're not done. This is already one of my favorite things.
If not my favorite thing we've ever done together. Buen Camino. That's clear water. These are getting
more frequent. Katie's getting further away. More of these ancient roads. Tracks from wagons from
god knows how long ago. These are awesome. How long it takes to wear tracks like that through stone.
All right time to put this away before I trip and break my ankle. Well it is fire season.
Thankfully that is uh on the other side of us from where we're going. I think we're gonna
walk a little faster. You hear me Katie? Walk faster. I'll try it. Thank god that's behind us
and I hope everybody's all right. When walking through a eucalyptus forest that is what we call
a bad sign. Every mile there's just more and more. One part is the trails are coming together.
There's a lot of people that just come in to do the last hundred kilometers. Because as long as
you get two stands per day for the last hundred you can get your official credential. So there's
a lot more people coming in for this last part. We are not alone to find places to go to the
bathroom anymore I'll tell you. About an hour outside of Punta Vedra. There's shell arrows in
both ways. One goes to the right along the paved road. The other goes to the left. Take the one
to the left. It goes along this little stream. It's out in the woods. Yeah very beautiful.
I mean aside from those guys it's the first time we've had walking alone in about two hours. Yeah.
Better watch my footing. I'm gonna fall down so camera's going away. Wow the trail takes you
some amazing places.
We made it to Punta Vedra and we've already stopped at a boqueria? Boqueteria? Boqueteria.
A little sandwich shop, some coffee, some cast limon, our new favorite drink in Spain. We're here
about two and a half hours before we can check into our lodging so what better thing to do than
relax for a little bit, drink some coffee, have some snacks and uh rest. We made a great pace.
And bonus the lady that we're staying with said that she was home early
so we don't have to wait till four. So we're heading over now to hopefully get a shower.
We need those. Yes. You just see his legs. There's a big color difference between under the socks and
on the other side. I look like a homeless dirt bather. Yeah. This place looks awesome. It's a
wonderful downtown area. Some kind of a festival going on for pilgrims. Tapas places everywhere.
We're going to take a little nap after we get checked in, come back out later. This path has
taken us by some beautiful churches but wow that one is unique and kind of a half circle design.
That is breathtaking.
Where to?
Even the Burger Kings here are snazzy. We were looking for Febreze and found this stuff to take
stink off of our pack straps. It worked fantastic. So there you go. It's like three euros. I don't
know if I said this already or not but we're staying at Hospedaje Casa Sara right in the middle
of Centro Historico in Puerto Vedra. Wow. It's really beautiful around here. And we're right
next to everything. We're right next to the old Roman bridge and there's churches and ancients.
This place is awesome. And our hostess is very sweet. Yes, Meggie. Meggie is lovely. We have three
rooms that share one bathroom but there's one person, one's a single, there's two doubles so
for 50 euros instead of 100 that's uh and we're right here and the place of the hotel is down
here. I think it costs like 250 so very nice. Anyways we're off to find maybe scouting this
someplace for dinner. Super charming little town. Now Katie's going through a tunnel.
Kate found us an empanadas place. Looks pretty good. Empanadas argentinas.
It's a little bready. I'd better if it was warm. I'd like to try the spicy one to see how that is.
Not bad. I don't really care for that. They taste like hot pockets that you didn't leave in the
microwave long enough. They're not great. Try something else. There's lots of good food in Spain.
In a country with amazing food we've had two blah meals in a row so we're going to turn our fortunes
around with Impar. This place has a 4.8 overall rating on google. It's a taparia which is also a
step up. Wish us luck. Definitely put the wrong peppers. First course is some kind of olive oil
and carrot. That's the best thing I've had to eat all day. That's delicious. That bodes very
well for the rest of this meal experience. A new favorite thing in the world. Padron peppers have
arrived. Now these are warm. I'll tilt side to side and look like you're going crazy.
I like them when they're a little more charred. They're good.
We ordered chicharron. Katie's an expert in chicharron.
Amazing. One to ten? Nine. Wow that's high praise from you. I only got like a four the last time I got rated.
And the piece de resistance is the Spanish tortilla.
Wow she took a whole piece. She must be into it.
About seven. Dinner's a success. Also the chef is awesome. He came out really personal.
Impar, double thumbs up. Excellent place to stop. Will we ever get tired of eating Padron peppers?
Join us tomorrow and find out. Keep drinking this coffee.
Click the thumbs up and subscribe. No that was good. That was good. That was good.
