One of the coolest places we've ever been to.
I can't quite get over how big and epic this place is.
Las Vegas has been dropped into Malaysia.
Malaysia is definitely becoming a place for us.
Morning.
Welcome back to another video.
This is all for Koda.
It's hot.
Yeah, it's hot.
So as you guys know, we checked in yesterday to the Sunway Lagoon Resort.
Extravaganza, I'm going to call it,
because I can't quite get over how big and epic this place is.
We said yesterday, it's like Las Vegas has been dropped into Malaysia.
There is everything here.
There's a water park, which we're heading to later,
a theme park, a petting zoo.
There's shopping, a shopping mall.
It's like an entire city in itself.
A huge, huge hotel.
Loads of swimming pools.
And we're going to properly show you around today.
So welcome back to the vlog.
Mummy's going to put your egg nice and cold again.
Say thank you, Mummy.
Something that's very cool here and very unusual.
I've never seen this ever in a hotel before.
Kids Dining, which is a lower buffet station,
so the kids can help themselves.
And there's little portions of everything.
You've got fish fingers,
little pre-made portions of the fried rice and the noodles in plastic cups.
Some more kid-friendly options,
like butterfly-shaped waffles and scrambled eggs and creamed corn.
Loads of little sweet treats down here.
But it's nice that they can help themselves.
I love that.
Strawberry milk, cereals, Yakult, fruit juices.
It's such a nice little touch
because then the kids can sit with other kids
or with their siblings on little tables.
And it's more about the kids
as opposed to just them joining the adults at the table.
It's a bit more fun for them.
So, yeah, it's very cool.
Okay, breakfast finished.
Very nice breakfast.
Really enjoyed that.
Loads of choice.
And we are now heading down to the theme park,
which we're very excited for.
It's a theme park, water park, petting zoo, all in one,
just behind me here.
And we're just walking around the pool area.
But it's so cool.
There's even these big pillars,
which also remind me of Vegas around here.
I mean, obviously, we've never been,
but I've watched loads of vlogs from there,
seen loads of movies from Las Vegas.
And, yeah, it's really, really given me that feeling.
But this place is insane.
I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel like this.
I didn't like the scale of it
because it's just huge.
It's kind of overwhelming.
And you just want to go and do everything all the time.
Very, very cool.
And the weather's perfect today.
It's very warm, very sunny.
I don't know why I'm choosing to vlog here
with a massive waterfall behind me.
It's probably really hard to understand me.
So I'll catch you guys in a second
when we're somewhere a bit more quiet.
Okay, this is kind of crazy.
I thought the theme park was just kind of
a small extension of the hotel.
But this is like huge,
like Disneyland or something.
If you've seen the vlogs over the past few days,
you would have seen that we were staying in
a completely different area of Kuala Lumpur
near the Bajaj Times Square Mall.
We had no idea that this was its own
kind of separate area or city.
I think it was about a 30-minute drive out.
And we honestly just thought
we were coming to stay at the hotel.
But it is so much more than that.
When you get here, it's like a whole...
I can't even describe it.
It feels like...
It genuinely does feel like its own city.
And I've never been anywhere in the world
that has that same kind of feeling.
Oh my goodness.
That's crazy.
Like Koda is going to be a little bit too young to...
Wait, what?
That's mad.
Okay, look at this quickly.
This looks absolutely terrifying.
I just can't quite believe how big this place is.
It's all kind of...
I think it's all kind of built into a cliff.
We got very confused in the elevator this morning
because we go down to our room
and then we go up to the ground floor.
No, we go up to our...
I don't know.
Basically, it's like the opposite of what you would think.
So the lobby is not the ground floor.
But when you go out, it's still like the road
and it's very confusing.
Whoa.
Okay, not going to lie.
I thought I was about to get soaked then.
I've also never seen such colourful fish.
Are they real?
They look pretend.
I thought they weren't real,
but I think they are.
I think they're like neon.
Maybe they dive them.
This is crazy.
So we're about to go to a zoo on site.
I...
You think of anything and they have it.
It's so bizarre.
Like I've never been somewhere like this.
Look at this parrot.
Meow.
Are you talking to the parrot?
What's a parrot say?
Eh.
What did he say?
Eh.
Orange arrow.
Coda thinks this animal is a kangaroo
and I can't laugh about that
because I have no idea what this animal is.
Never seen it before.
It's kind of a cross between a donkey,
a rabbit and a cat.
This place is never ending.
We were in a water park.
Now we're in a zoo.
Feels like we're in a jungle.
All this greenery and trees
and all these animals around us.
Got some flamingos here
mixed with Canada geese.
Mixed with.
Hilarious.
Like a dish.
No, like it's one animal.
You saw some animals?
Yeah.
Crocodile.
Yeesh.
What is that?
Yeesh.
Crocodile.
Wow.
I wasn't expecting this.
I thought it was like a bird zoo
and then suddenly there's a lion sat here.
Where on earth are we going?
There's three rant raving lions in here.
Best to put these gates in.
Yeah, coming from the UK,
we don't really have that many zoos.
I mean, I guess we do,
but we don't really go to the big zoos
where you see like lions and stuff like that.
So for us, it's like quite surprising
and shocking to see.
Wow.
To see a lion.
It's quite a big deal for us.
Lion.
This is crazy.
Lion.
You see the lion?
Wow, Koda.
Is that the lion?
I know there's a lot to see here
like the water park and the animals and stuff,
but personally, I'm quite enjoying the trees
and the plants.
It's very, very peaceful
and you forget that you're in the middle of Kuala Lumpur,
major city in Malaysia.
Like they've got all these beautiful,
like tropical, tropical plants
and it's just so, so vast.
Lucy's calling me over.
I think the lion's on its way to us.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
What's that leopard?
Koda, what is that?
What did he say?
Koda, what did you say?
Open.
He wants to open the door.
Yeah.
You want to go and see the cheetah?
Or is it a leopard?
Really nice big cat.
It's beautiful, isn't it?
Look at the spots.
Can you see spots on his fur?
On his coat?
What do you think?
Check it out.
What do you think, Koda?
Is it big?
Say hi.
What is it?
Are you walking with it?
Can you do it?
Can you walk with the lion?
What's the lion doing?
Is it walking?
Can you walk with it?
Oh, that's it.
Can you follow the lion?
Say hi, lion.
I'm feeling slightly delusional right now.
One minute I'm eating my pancakes at the breakfast buffet,
the next minute I'm getting pounced at by a leopard
and my face is this close to a white lion.
So I'm slightly overwhelmed.
Yeah, that was...
We didn't...
We weren't filming, but Lucy walked past the leopard cage
and it jumped right up, like at head level.
That was mad.
So we're going to the waterpark bit now
and there's like a whole kids play area around the corner.
So I don't know how much there is to do with Koda
because he is obviously a lot younger than I think this place is really designed for,
but there is like a little kids area as well.
So hopefully we can enjoy that over this bridge.
Okay, Koda slept for two and a half hours,
meaning we've got loads of editing done.
And he woke up.
We went to the little play area just outside our room
and there's a swimming pool and loads of kids stuff there,
which is really cool.
And now... Hi.
And now we are heading down for like a late lunch
slash early dinner in the resort.
And then after that, we're going to show you the outside of the resort.
So there's loads of shops.
It's like a whole shopping mall complex thing.
We've not been yet.
So we're going to go and have a look after our dinner.
So we're going to have something to eat quickly
and then head out outside.
I say out of the resort,
but it's kind of part of this Sunway City thing.
I'm going to give you the grand tour of Sunway City,
the land of dreams.
Is it?
Well, my dreams are coming true, yeah?
Okay, I spoke about this earlier.
I actually couldn't put into words this.
I couldn't quite fathom what happens in these elevators.
It's kind of like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
where you like zoom around and you just don't know where you're going.
You're just going all sorts of places.
But you go...
We're on the floor now.
We have to go up for the lobby.
But when you get up there,
you feel like you're on the ground floor
because you walk out, you're on the street, you're on the road.
But this isn't low,
but I think it's because the whole thing's like on a cliff or something.
Here we go.
So we are now out for dinner.
Sat outside on this beautiful sunset terrace, they call it.
However, I think we've been a little bit unlucky tonight.
A little bit gray and cloudy.
I don't think we're going to particularly see a sunset.
Just been doing some Googling about Sunway City.
I wanted to know how long has it existed for,
who owns it, where it came from,
what it looked like before.
And I just found out that the founder and chairman of Sunway Group
purchased a derelict 800-acre mining wasteland near Kuala Lumpur,
which he then turned into Sunway City.
So this was a wasteland.
There was nothing here before.
And the transformation began in the mid-80s according to this.
So imagine before.
It's a little bit like BGC in the Philippines.
That used to be like a military ground.
Now that's a huge global city.
I just can't imagine there being nothing here.
Now there's everything here.
I also had a look because we've been saying,
oh, it feels like Vegas-y or what we imagined Las Vegas to be like.
And then I was like, hang on a minute.
If it's going to be like Las Vegas, is there a casino here?
So I started Googling about casinos in Kuala Lumpur
and I found out there is only one casino in the whole of Malaysia.
But I couldn't quite find out why.
If you know in the comments why casinos are not really a thing here,
please let us know because I find that really, really interesting.
Dinner was excellent.
We just walked out the hotel now
because we're going to check out the shopping mall that's here in Sunway City.
I keep wanting to say it like that.
It's like some American movie or something.
The most incredible lobby I think I've ever seen in the world.
It used to be, we used to say that about the peninsula in Manila.
That's a very cool lobby as well.
It's different though. This is like super gold.
This is kind of golden and spectacular.
We're just walking now.
They've got like a cafe here.
Maybe we could grab a cup of coffee here tomorrow.
Looks really nice.
They've got some pastries and things like that.
But you can walk straight through here and get to the mall.
I mean, everything here is linked.
There's the university.
There's a hospital here.
It's like, it's all, it's vast, but it's all connected.
Yeah.
Okay, so you walk straight into a food court.
There's no door, just straight in.
No, just straight in.
It just segues into this.
Ooh.
Are you hearing this?
She's like screaming for eggs.
They've got Japanese restaurants.
They've got like a really high-end looking bakery and bake shop.
That looks, is that Din Tai Fung?
A whole alcohol store.
It almost feels like we're in an airport as well at the same time.
Yeah.
It's so vast.
This place is so confusing.
What?
There's now an ice rink.
I'm so confused.
I feel like I need a break from this.
My brain is just in overload.
I need to sit in a very small, quiet, dark room and just take this all in
because it's too much happening right now.
I did.
We just turned the corner.
Here's Din Tai Fung.
They're in there busy making their world-class dumplings.
Unbelievable.
If you haven't eaten, then you have to at some point.
Anyway, this is...
Look at that.
There's some pro skaters on them.
When Koda's a little bit older, we should definitely take him ice skating.
This is crazy.
We've just come from our hotel, which is massive, and it's right...
And none of this was here before the 80s.
It was just...
Really?
Nothing.
No, somewhere...
I was reading it out at dinner.
I'm sorry.
It's all right.
I'm used to it.
Mid-80s, the transformation.
It was wasteland.
It was nothing.
But also, is it just me, or do I feel like the 80s was 20 years ago?
Yeah, true.
In my head, 2000 is where we are now,
and the 80s is 20 years ago,
the 70s is 30 years ago.
I know I wasn't around for any of this,
but in my head, I can't quite get to grips with the fact that that was still 40-something years ago.
Yeah, but do you know what's going to be weird?
In our lifetime, when we're 80 or 90,
the 80s will be like 100 years ago.
We'll be able to say...
We're going to be able to say...
Like, I'll be able to say,
Oh, it's my dad's birthday.
It's 100 years ago he was born.
Anyway.
Wait, is that right?
Now we're in Vegas.
Look around.
No casino, but lots of...
Penny machines.
Oh, yeah.
Is there a gate key?
One more.
Really hard, really hard.
Really hard.
Just spotted the most incredible Ferrari outside our hotel.
Beautiful.
Just finishes off the day perfectly.
That is stunning.
Wanted to say thanks for watching this vlog.
We're going to end this one here.
We've really, really enjoyed today.
This place is amazing, overwhelming, vast, over-the-top, incredible, hilarious.
Probably, on the whole, one of the coolest places we've ever been to.
Malaysia is definitely becoming a place for us, if that makes any sense.
Like, we've been before.
We visited in 2019.
This is our second trip back.
Both have been short trips.
We are thinking that in the future, we're going to be coming back to Malaysia again and again.
It's impressing us so much this time.
So, wanted to thank you for watching, if you made it this far.
If you did, please give the video a thumbs up.
Subscribe to the channel, if you're new around here.
And we'll see you very soon in another video.
Goodbye.
