THE CREEK IS RISING!

So we just had a crazy storm roll through. Oh my gosh, is that the creek? Whoa that's insane. Oh gosh. Whoa that's insane. So we just had a crazy storm roll through. Kind of out of nowhere. I knew it was supposed to rain but I didn't know it was going to be like this. We lost power. Still don't have it and that's our only way to cook food basically except for the grill so really screwed up our dinner plans. But we're looking out back and like we're like oh my gosh is that the creek? So come check this out guys the creek is literally crazy high. When we posted our like house tour, I don't even know what it was, a lot of people had messaged me like with concern about us having a creek on our property. Everyone thought the basement would probably flood and said that we should really make sure that we have someone come out and check on it. Which we do appreciate the concerns but obviously all we've done our due diligence and so did the builder. The very reputable builder of this home and people lived here before us so. But don't worry because the creek is like way at the bottom of a gigantic hill. It has flooded one time up the hill really far and that was like a once in 50 or 100 year kind of situation. It wasn't even up to that where our house is. So I think we're safe to say that we don't have to worry about that but but this is nuts because I've not ever seen it this high. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Where's our beach? Our beach is washed away. Dude look at that. I don't like that you can't see in it. So the waters are running down here. Look John, that's all covered. That log is all covered. Look at right here. This is usually all dry. Where I'm standing right now is usually totally dry. Dude that's wild. But there's a little bay. You're gonna get washed away and I can't come save you babe. I'm afraid I'm gonna step on like a snapping turtle or something. What was it? Probably a leaf but still. Oh my gosh. You're gonna die. I'm not coming in to save you. It will easily go above my knees. Yeah so all of it's like being poured in from upstream and then our water is running into it. I know it looks like it but like there wasn't a crazy like I stepped in a hole that's why I'm so that makes me feel a little better. This is still wild. It looks like chocolate milk. I want to come and take a sip. Isla you want to get some chocolate milk? Yeah look. Here's the chocolate milk. Okay. John look. John I'm still on the sand. I haven't reached like the rock bottom yet. Okay now it's I think our big kids could stand in it a little bit. That's wild. Maybe. You're not gonna make it are you? I am. I'm resilient but that's where our kids dug a big hole in the sand so I should have known that was there. What do you think buddy? You want to go swimming now? You want to go swimming now? He's like no I can't see in that. That's scary. It's just running down the back of the property which it actually drains pretty good back here. I thought it was just pooling but you can see it kind of slopes and comes down and then it all seems to pour in right here. This is why we lost our chairs babe. Yeah this must have been what happened. Over there that's pooling really hard is what folded them up. Yeah. They probably got caught on something and then folded up. But I don't like all this messy stuff over here. Well this is exciting. I think so. Look at the, watch the logs float by. We could play poo sticks if you want. What? Poo sticks? Your face. What is that? Gosh I wish we could get your face recorded. What's poo sticks? Poo sticks. Comment if you know what poo sticks is. Nobody knows what that is. They all do. Nobody. What is it? I'm not gonna tell you. You can't tell, you can't not tell what that is. Now you gotta look it up. I'm not gonna go look that up. I don't know what's gonna come up on the internet if I google search poo sticks. There's a poo stick right there. I know it's gonna, get it boy. Go get it. I'm gonna walk down and see if the waterfall area, the little mini waterfall we have looks any different. I hope our power comes back on soon because we were going to make leftovers for dinner. So now it just might be like cereal. Even this is deep. Look at that. Yeah it is. Can you hear it? Oh my gosh. Dude it's rushing like crazy. Oh my gosh. That's insane. No. Holy crap. That's dangerous. Dude give me an inner tube though bro. Give me an inner tube. Our baby waterfall is now a full-on rapid. It's not white water. Honestly this is really dangerous. Thankfully whenever it thunders the kids scream and run to the house. But yeah they can't play in it when it's after. So look at him. He's scared. Don't you do it bro. That is wild and crazy and kind of scary. Here are the girls seeing it. It's scary. You had like an inner tube flow down that thing. What's an inner tube? Like a you know like a location device. That would be fun. It'd be cool huh. But you're never doing it. If you're not familiar with what our creek normally looks like here's some clips of it uh when it's just like a normal day. So now you can see the comparison and how insane this is to us when it typically doesn't look anything like this. I can only imagine what it would do when like a hurricane or something came through here. It rained hard for like a full day. I just can only imagine that this would be crazy down here. I'm sure at some point in the future we'll get to experience that. A little ravine. Okay to be honest I am just hoping that by the time we make it back up to the house the power will be back on. It's dinner time and I'm hungry and if it's not we're gonna have peanut butter and jelly. So there's that. Well there's no power back at our house. Still off. I was hoping because Danielle made some amazing enchiladas the other night. Chicken enchiladas and I'm not gonna lie I was I wanted to eat them for lunch today and forgot. So I made a sandwich and then I was like oh that'll be yummy for dinner for leftovers. Well guys that was crazy. I can still see it from here. So you typically can't see the creek from our house. You can see like the drop off into the creek but you just can't see the water. Here it's just like here I am. I'm a creek. Maybe a river. That's what it's saying. I think it's saying okay we just I understand creek and you don't. So I'm more outdoorsy than she is. Now trees that's another thing. She is into trees. More nerdy than I am. No that's not true. We know that's not true. Hey look at this. Power's back on and just in time. I didn't eat a sandwich or anything yet so now I can make my enchiladas. You look like a mom hack. Oh yeah. Thank you. Mom hack. Make your sandwich first and then eat it real quick and then make someone else's and that's how you can make sure you get one. Dad hack. Make everyone's food first then order. You door dash. If you have that kind of thing. We don't. We don't have it anymore but if you did like that's what I would totally do. Well the power's back on and I'm grateful. Very grateful. All right guys well we don't have to uh go without power and uh the kids are eating. We're gonna put in the bed right away afterwards. It's what it's 7 20.
