This is a Disaster!
After being in the new house for a few days, we quickly realized we had a problem...and we needed to fix it ASAP...
I think we have a little bit of a problem here.
Our house is getting destroyed.
Our life is about to change. My life is about to get easier.
First it's going to get harder. Then it's going to get easier.
It's here!
I am so tired, but so excited because it's here.
Our life is about to change. My life is about to get easier.
First it's going to get harder. Then it's going to get easier.
The kids' life is about to get a lot more fun and less being yelled at
all day every day for making a mess.
It's here. It's here. I can't believe it's here.
Are you so excited? Are you so excited?
It's bright out here. It's early, y'all.
It's like 8.30, but this is a big, amazing day.
The truck out front is full of sod.
Beautiful grass that we are going to put all over this red clay.
Do you see what our patio looks like?
We power washed it already once,
and it just like within an hour was covered in red clay again.
And it gets everywhere. It gets on your feet.
You walk in the house, it's all over the floors.
It's all over the furniture. It's the doors, the dogs.
It's bad. And it doesn't come out. It's not like normal dirt.
You know, normally you could just like wash your clothes and get dirt out of them.
This stuff stains, like stains like nothing I've ever seen.
Forget about it.
Like it's if it gets on your clothes, you've got orange clothes now.
And that's just the way it is.
So anyway, it's going to be gone. I cannot wait.
I'm so excited.
We're going to lay sod on as much of it as we can.
We were trying to be budget conscious and but also cover as much of this stuff
as we possibly could because the seed just isn't doing fast enough.
And you can also see where like the water drain really good drainage,
but that kind of washes away seed, especially over here.
There's like a big slope.
So the sod is going to take care of that.
It's going to help really take root, hopefully take off.
And then the rest will of the patches around the side in the front of the house
will put seed on.
But this is going to be amazing.
It's going to be a lot of work.
We're going to get started.
Thankfully, it's only like 68 degrees right now.
It's really nice.
But I have a feeling we're going to be out here all day recruiting some kids.
John's going to carry it.
We're going to roll it out and going to cover this stuff up.
Hey, Johnny.
OK, so slight issue.
I was going to bring the sod down, but our septic field is right here.
And then it's kind of soft on the sides.
So he's going to put it on the side.
We're going to have to figure out a way to carry bunches of it.
Borrow a wheelbarrow because it's heavy to carry from far into the middle.
But we also don't want to risk driving over the septic field
and messing anything up with that, because that's going to be a costly mistake.
All right, we got the kids out here today.
Please don't. Why are you putting mud on there?
You're just going to get mud on your feet again.
You're just going to get mud on your shoes again.
You're wiping on the wall.
Now we have to clean the wall.
Oh, John, I was just in.
Wow. Wow.
Look at these shoes.
I touched my shoe with great.
You've never worn them.
I know I bought them.
I like them.
I accidentally
thought one is a different color than the other because it got wet.
So then I didn't wear them because they were two different colors.
So then I thought
this can be my they're very breathable.
Look, they're so mesh.
Very breathable.
You see how my toes are?
I see. I see your toes.
So Judy here is pulling out weeds.
All right. This is heavy.
Yeah, but it's also dry on the top.
It's going to be.
We got to wet it.
It's supposed to start watering.
All right.
Can I push it down?
The first go.
Dude, do you want to stamp it down?
Yeah.
Stamping and stamping and stamping.
Right there.
It is not.
I don't know if you want to get that off.
Smart.
If you need more, you can.
It's not going to be a problem.
No, because this will decompose right into the.
I found out.
That helped.
You ready, Ty?
You going to help me carry some sod?
Guess what, Daddy?
What?
Elena's Martin Crat and I'm Chris Crat.
Nice.
See?
I think we have a little bit of a problem here.
I think you got too much sod, Danny.
We haven't even done one pallet.
It's been like an hour and a half.
No, you're kidding.
Maybe too much to lay or too much.
Too much to lay.
Like more than we can lay.
Not more than we need to lay.
We just might be up until.
I might be up until midnight laying all this.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
That's like 20 pallets.
Oh, there's eight and seven.
Eight and ten.
Eighteen.
For an hour and a half.
We did one pallet and we already did this much.
I guess we've done one pallet.
I took some from the other pallet.
We've done one pallet and we've covered.
Did I get more than we needed?
I don't know.
We might be going.
The front yard.
Down to the creek.
All right.
Back to it.
It's hot.
It's going good.
We've got two and a half pallets out of 18 laid.
Two hours in.
Super sweaty.
No, we have stopped numerous times.
Yeah, but the day doesn't stop whenever we stop.
There we go.
All right, guys.
We are thoroughly exhausted.
Apparently, their butts look different.
Meow.
Um.
What does having a butt look like?
We are about three and a half pallets in.
Maybe close to four,
because I've been pulling from a few different ones.
I'm ready just to be done.
I'm going to just give up.
No, you wimp.
I'm just going to let the sod sit there and grow.
And it's, I'm going to roll.
Hurry up, princess.
Back to work.
You hear how she talks to me?
That's how she always talks to me.
She always calls me princess.
Yeah, hold your hand up.
Put that cup down.
Watch.
No, I'm calling him princess.
Look at him drinking out of this.
Here, hold your hand up.
Hold your hand up.
What about my hand?
Just hold your hand up.
Okay, hold your feet up.
Look at my feet.
And look at my feet.
Yours are way less dirty than mine.
Look at our hands, John.
Princess.
Because I'm wearing gloves.
You chose not to.
No.
She chose not to wear gloves.
My hands would be torn up from carrying that sod.
Sod's heavy.
If you've ever laid sod, it's not fun.
Am I getting sunburned?
Yeah, I'm getting sunburned.
Let's see.
Yeah, check that out.
Princess, you must have a drink.
Princess.
Look at that little spoon.
Whatever, dude.
Whatever, I'm the one carrying this sod.
Take it away.
I am ready to be done.
It doesn't mean that I am done.
All right, well, we only have like 15 more pallets to go.
When is he going to wake up?
No doubt, we're going to have to finish it tomorrow.
And then two days.
So anyways, we just took a lunch break.
And I think I'm ready to get back to it.
I'm ready, but my eyes are closing.
My eyes are closing.
It's the food.
It was the food.
Look, there's shade.
Oh, we got a big shade cloud.
We don't have too many of those.
We've got some clouds that just appeared.
Thank you, Lord.
Look what we're working with.
Look what we got so far.
Oh, there's my partner right there.
She's done.
It's looking good.
Looking so good, so worth it.
Got a sprinkler going, keeping the grass wet.
This is tough work.
I haven't had my bandana on to keep
the sweat out of my brow.
I am super stylish.
But we still have lots to do, I think.
We're probably done.
How many palettes did we do?
Four and a half?
Yeah, four and a half.
That's almost done.
Four and less than a half, even.
We're a quarter of the way through.
Yeah, a quarter of the way through, Danielle says.
Awesome.
So still lots to do.
Back to it.
She's like, I'm done.
I'll meet you upstairs.
So I wanted to update you guys.
We still have a lot to do.
But we finished this backyard area, which is great.
This is where the biggest mess was being made,
because they'd run, they'd go down to the creek,
come back, run through here, and if it had rained or was wet,
then mud all over and into the house.
I mean, you can still see the patio.
Look at it.
It's like horrible.
So we're getting close to having this stay fairly clean.
This is also from dogs.
Anyway, so we have less than three and a half palettes
over here that we're going to actually use
that to fill that spot over there.
There's still some area that had straw on it,
but it's not growing very well.
So we're going to put sod down there, and then all this
up here.
So we got seven and a half palettes up there.
And that is supposed to do all this right here.
Maybe not all of it.
We might not.
We won't go all the way to the tree line.
It's just not worth it to use the grass for that.
But to at least get a good, clear, maybe here.
So the only problem is that it's supposed to rain tomorrow.
So at least the sod will stay a little wet.
We'll have the first thing in the morning to work on it.
But then I'll get my tools.
But then it's supposed to rain, which
might be nice to kind of break it up into two more days,
because that's still a lot of palettes.
10 and a half palettes left.
Maybe 11, 10 and a half.
Yeah, 10 and a half palettes left of sod.
Anyways, I think we did about seven or eight palettes today.
Can't remember.
Yeah, seven palettes.
So anyways, grass is getting watered.
It looks great.
We're just happy to have that and be getting it done.
So I'm going to go upstairs and see what Daniel's doing.
All right, guys, we'll see you tomorrow to finish.
We'll have a little more sod project.
So let me know what you think about the new grass.
We are super happy to have it.
And on that note, we will see you later.
Bye.
