Does MANILA Have the Best STREET FOOD in the World? (Night Market Taste Test)

[Music] street food is such a big part of so many cultures and so many different countries that we have visited and i'm super excited today to say that we're going to be checking out some street food in manila and we found a new market that's been set up we miss street food so so much and due to the pandemic there's obviously a lot less street food options now but today we're going to bring you guys along on a night time almost night time it's getting dark as you can see on a kind of nighttime food hunt and we're going to try and find some delicious street food tonight try a few different and we'd love to have you on the channel so without further ado we're going to hop in jose we're going to head down to the parking garage and drive over to mckinley hill so it's right outside the venice grand canal mall where this street food market is and we're just excited aren't we it's been a long time since we've had proper street food i don't know what options are going to be i'm sure there's going to be filipino food but also some cuisines from all around the world and we just know that manila is pretty renowned for its street food options and you know what we're starting the vlog super late today but yeah it is 6 p.m i looked i looked hand you do a little bit oh it is just about sunset we've waited for this time it's so hot at the moment yes it's too hot wait for the perfect time to go out so let's go i want to catch a little bit of the daylight we thought we were going to do it like at midday and then we were like that's a really bad idea my phone said it feels like 42 degrees today so i'm not interested in going outside in that weather so that's why we're waiting for the evening get our shoes these on and head over to mckinley [Music] we do this every day and i'm still so amazed by you [Music] so hold me tight through the night [Music] is [Music] um [Music] more than friends [Music] yeah [Music] you know i'm here to stay every single day [Music] so hold me tight through the night [Music] just us too [Music] okay so lovely oprah music again we parked in one of our favorite little free parking spots here by the road and we've just driven past the market it looks so cool it actually looks like a real traditional street food market it reminds me of the roe house market in davao city we were at before the sky though this guy is beautiful look at this whole thing at night very nice lovely singing george um and we're gonna head there now so yeah it's like loads of tents stuck next to each other it looks awesome what's that there's seating over there as well oh we could sit in the love venice park or we could sit there's some seating by the actual market so this is the first time we've actually had a night out in our new area true so it's very cool yeah and i'm loving this new light we've got i hope you guys are appreciating the better quality of night time filming so lovely so nice yeah so it actually looks like they've got a bit of a live van set up oh we're good here yeah the roads are closed look we've got drums they're not being played right now and then all the way along here street food so we're gonna have a little walk along see what we like the look of order some food and then try it see what's going on here but so nice to see so many people out there's a lot of people out here but still spread out enough that it's not we've been to some markets in the past so crowded you're kind of squeezing through between people when you fly that that smells incredible that smells incredible okay let's i can see some barbecue over there already so let's let's have a little look around and also you've got the um separation markers on the floor so this is a kovid friendly featured market it looks a bit misty on the screen but actually it's just the smoke from all the food cooking yeah looks so nice it smells incredible [Music] oh got some lemonade nice electron hi it's been a while because we've had an electron [Music] yeah so they got so much nice stuff here my personal favorite my personal favorite which is all the barbecue kind of stuff and then they've got i want to try these octopus balls not like the balls of an octopus but balls made from octopus they've got electron they've got some shakes a lot of the kind of stuff that we missed that we missed from the other bgc market that we used to go to all the time so we are gonna order a little bit of food now there's so much here we could try so nice hi hi hey oh none of that was in focus but they were waving hello this looks good what do we have here crispy chicken skin chicken skin tablets wow shrimp thank you [Music] thank you [Music] so at the barbecue store the one that smells the best here i think and we're going to get is three for 120 and you can add rice for 20 pesos do you want rice i'm probably good to serve the bbq actually so i'm going to get a combination of pork and chicken skewers and then they cook them fresh on this little barbecue and just behind me here i think so i like the look of this chicken and then this pork yeah i think so it's a three for 120 all of us how much are these ones okay so would you like to just go for it anyway just get what we want how much chicken do you want probably can we have two of these thank you and one i don't know if i was meant to do that myself or if now i know normally i would but do they do it for you now these days leave it to the experts the chicken's a little bit more expensive because you get more meat so it's 280 for one two chickens in one pot four pieces thank you so we're gonna try some of this as well six people 65 pesos for four pizzas which is a pound amazing you want chili served spicy [Music] nice i didn't realize they'd have all the toppings you put a load of stuff on them wow this should be delicious thank you so much all right thank you keep the five thank you this is actually super close to our new condo here and it's here every single weekend so i feel like we're going to have our favorites here and it's going to be a very regular evening dinner spot for us um so we're gonna try the octopus balls and the barbecue for starters and see how we get on okay we have found a little spot to try some of this food lucy's we're gonna spray the fork that they give you because they do give you a little bit of a fork it's not a little bit it is a fork they give it four but oh now it's gonna really just taste like sanitizer better than tasting a cobia that is true so i'm gonna try this octopus balls i'm just gonna go straight in with the whole one you know might be a bit of a mouthful but go for it she put a few different sauces on this i think some mayonnaise yeah mayonnaise and maybe some dried fish on top yeah and chili we asked for chili as well that is so good a lot of flavor in one place so much flavor going on not as fishy as i expected absolutely delicious a lot of different sauces got some plates oh nice and really soft actually melts in your mouth i've had octopus in the past and it's been a little bit chewy this really isn't okay our food got nice chunky beer chicken i'll give you the big one so i'll have this one yum looks really good chicken chicken in the sauce is one of our favorite foods i've just missed this flavor so much the proper barbecue flavor to get right in there with all the bones super warm as well so i guess you can pick it yourself so other people could have been near it but they properly cook it very well over a very high heat so obviously it burns anything off so it does feel very safe look at that this is my favorite part of chicken and there's the charred kind of burnt edges and the skin it's just incredible the chicken's so warm so fresh when you order takeout you don't get it this fresh do you you don't get it piping hot just off of the barbecue [Music] i literally have missed this so much it's been way too long and the only way to eat chicken right down to the bone finish every single piece of meat on here [Music] [Applause] [Music] and i've got the bbq glistening nice bits of fat all over it as well really nice really nice flavor this and chicken are our favorite barbecue we didn't go crazy and we didn't try loads of different things because we want to do another video here and try like a part two of trying different stuff and as it's our new neighborhood hangout spot i mean it's so nice it's a sunday for us and everyone's just sat out with some street food in their lap eating um it feels like the old days ago it really does it's such a nice atmosphere here and it's definitely going to be a spot that we head to a lot um i mean i feel like the chicken barbecue is pretty healthy right so even when we're like going hard in the gym we can come down here grab a chicken on a stick enjoy i mean it's it's such a nice place to just be i feel like when we bring our families out here it's so close to a new place we can show them some um aspects of filipino street food by coming here and showing the sort of culture side of it and i just love how traditional the little tents are and it just feels really nice kind of feels like we're traveling again which we haven't had that feeling for a lot very long time and it's nice just yeah nicely so many people out and about yeah really nice it's it is warm it's hot out here everyone's sitting on the street we're not used to it anymore but everyone seems chilled and relaxed and happy everyone's in a good mood and yeah kind of brought back all those good memories that we have traveling the philippines trying all this amazing food so we're going to maybe next time head to the other seating area where the the hashtag love venice signs are that could be yeah try that out or maybe get some different food and sit there exactly so many fun things to do in this new neighborhood but for now back to the real world masks and shields back on yeah walk back to the car yeah and end off this vlog so thanks so much
