Good morning guys. Good morning. Welcome to an incredibly rainy day. It's so grey in Manila.
This is the first rain we've had for such a long time. It's absolutely chucking it down.
And it has been for the whole morning. Yeah, it's grey outside, it's gloomy,
but that's not going to stop us guys. We're in the gym, we're working out, we're feeling good.
Hope you're all having a good day, whatever you're up to. We're going to start today with a workout
because in a few hours this afternoon, even though it's raining, we're going to have to take
the umbrella, we are heading out to a street food market, a Sudbo. Is it Sudbo in Mercado?
No, it's Mercado Central. Okay, Mercado Central street food market in BGC,
five minutes away from where we live, literally. And we haven't been there before. So we saw it,
it's open weekdays. We thought we fancied some nice Filipinos. It's got very strange opening
times. Anyway, it's open this afternoon, this evening we're heading there. It's raining,
it's all outside actually. No, it's covered. I think it's, I'm pretty sure it's covered. We've
walked past it so many times. It is going to be intense in the rain. It's intense. So it might
be that it's like less vendors are there today because it's raining maybe. Which means more food
for us. So less food. Anyway, we fancied, let's start this treadmill. Oh, mine's not even on.
We fancied some Filipino street food. We're going to take you guys along in a bit. We're
in the gym this morning. We're going to get ourselves an appetite and then we'll head down
there. Oh wow. It's so hot in here. I'm dying. I'm sweating like crazy. Maybe I'm so out of
breath to vlog, you know. Maybe I should kill myself a few more minutes. Let's do that.
Okay guys, the rain has stopped. It's still a little bit misty. It's still very muggy in the
air. It feels like there's going to be another storm, but, um, it's almost half past five now.
We're heading out. I think it opened at four and it goes on till like 2am if Google's correct.
Um, so it should be fine, but we're super hungry because all we've eaten today is breakfast.
Um, and I made a little salad just now to have off from gym, but very hungry. Also, let me know
if you want a plant update anytime soon. As you can see, they're doing very well out here. Growing
very well, growing very nicely. Um, but we realized the other day, we've never really filmed clips on
this balcony for the vlog, but it's so nice out here. So maybe we should start doing it more often.
Masks, guys. Coronavirus. Be safe. Let's go. All right. I'm glad that it stopped raining, but
it feels so humid in the air. It kind of feels like it could start raining at any point, any
second. It could just go again. We're not coming into rainy season yet, but today that was definitely
the first rain that we've had for so long. Maybe like since being back in Manila, you know.
Do Filipinos talk about the weather? Because I don't know. It's such a British thing. It's a
known British thing that if you're looking for small talk or you just meet someone or you've
got nothing to talk about, even if you do talk about, even if you do have stuff to talk about,
you always still talk about the weather at some point in your conversation, don't you?
But thankfully we decided to walk. It's a little bit of a walk, but good exercise, guys. Get out in
the fresh air. And we will be wearing our masks when we're in close contact with people, of course.
But it's nice coming into evening time. Always one of my favourite times of day to come out
and do something that we've never done before. That's exciting as well. Which is strange that
we've never done that because it's so fun. I know.
Just bumped into one of our friends there. One of our neighbours, actually,
him and his wife. He's an Irish guy. She watched our videos and messaged us and was like,
we're neighbours. First we were like, how do you know where we live? Then we were like, oh cool,
you're really, really nice people. Went for dinner with them and we're actually seeing them
Sunday. So you guys will see them in the vlogs. Will they bring the dogs though?
Guys, they've got two incredible huskies. They're senior huskies. If you've walked around BGC and
you've seen someone walking two massive huskies, that's probably them. But you'll see them Sunday,
hopefully. We're excited for this video. Here we are guys. We have arrived. The lens is too blurry
to actually see it. Hang on. It's incredibly smoky here as well. So I think our clothes are going to
smell. We're actually going out after this. Hopefully we don't smell smoky when we get
there. But if you want some good street food, there's going to be some smoke involved.
What are you on about? You know that old saying? Yeah, yeah. Are you going here?
Uh, okay. After you. Age before beauty. After you then. Oh, okay. I'm younger and more beautiful.
Thank you.
Had a little walk around the whole thing now. We're kind of surprised because we thought it
was just Filipino food, but they do so much different stuff. Pasta, pizza, seafood, Japanese
food. So we didn't want to fill up straight away on like the first thing we saw, but we are going
to buy a few things. Um, I got maybe two or three things that we like the look of. I'm incredibly
hungry. So let's go. Good news guys. They have our favorite lechon. Wow. Oh, look at that. So crispy
Lechon salad. A healthy twist. Look at that. This looks super crispy. Super delicious. Hi. Oh,
thanks. Try some. Is it crispy? Oh yeah. Oh wow. The kuya here was kind enough to let us try some
of this before we buy. Wow. Probably the best skin I've tried actually of lechon. Delicious.
There's something here called Dada's Grill. There's Mama's Grill in Choa Gao, which is amazing. It's
grilled food. So we might get some chicken barbecue from there. Um, I think they cook it
fresh for you as well. Um, but it looks really good. Can we please have, uh, one chicken with
rice? No rice. Do you want rice? No, no rice. And one, is this just pork? Yeah. One pork please.
Oh, great. Okay. So I think you're meant to, I think you're supposed to tell them what you want
by putting it in there, but I didn't know that. So that costs $1.30 for one piece of chicken,
like a, quite a big chicken chunk, uh, skewer and also one pork. They give you a little card.
So I think when it's ready, you come and swap the card, I guess. I guess so. Leave it at that. We
just paid $1.30 for a playing card. So literally since we got here, it's been 10 minutes and it's
gone from being like mainly empty to every seat is full. We can't find anywhere to go and sit and
eat. Um, so either we're going to share a table hopefully, or maybe we're standing and eating,
but it's gone crazy. So I think the best time to come is like five o'clock I'd say,
just before the rush. Um, so I think people leave work, true Friday night, people leave work and
then come straight here. Cause there's loads of office buildings around here. That's something
else that's really cool that it's like a tent and it's like, feels quite local. And then you just
look up and there's huge skyscrapers around. It's just plonked in the middle of the beach. You see,
it's really cool. Let's go and make some friends and share a table. Yeah.
They packaged it up really nicely for us. Nice. Some sort of like marinade dressing on it as well.
And then they've also cut the chicken up for us. So it's easier to eat. And they've given us some
cutlery and stuff in here. Looks so good. This is the pork one. Okay. Let's dig in. It's really hot
as well. So good. Such a nice flavour. Good night George. Okay. This is a knife, a fork jobby. Oh,
yeah. Nice flavour. Nice skin. Charred as well. So hot. Just spotted that they do also have a bar
in the middle here. So the idea is that you go and get your food, sit down in the middle,
enjoy with your friends. And there's a bar directly there. So you can get beers by the
looks of it. Maybe wine. Oh, there's spirits as well. I think. What are you looking at?
Alcoholic ice cream. Oh, should we get some of that? Alcoholic ice cream. Wow.
This is our best seller, the hot chocolate brand. We're getting a little free taste of it.
What's in it? Brandy. Brandy and chocolate. Nice. It's called hot chocolate. Hot chocolate brandy,
spicy with chocolate. The other one is our limited edition, lychee gin sherbet. Nice.
Wow. Yeah. That's really good. Really? It's really rich, but it's not like overwhelmingly
alcoholic, but you get like a nice little burn down your throat. Should we get a pot?
Yeah. Oh, there's another one. I didn't even see that. Oh, what's this? What's this one?
Lychee gin sherbet. So it's our limited edition for February. Cool. Oh, that's so good. That
chocolate one. Really? Oh, that's nice. That's more like a sorbet. Really? Really fresh. Yeah,
I want to try the chocolate one. Is it worth getting a pot? It's very filling. Small. Do you
do like a small one? We have the single scoop, so it's like this. Perfect. Just a share. Should
we get one of the chocolate ones? Yeah. Because of course, guys, we are trying to be healthy. As
you saw, the start of this video went to the gym. So just a little, little taster. That's all we
need. A little taster. We've got our protein, the chicken, the pork. I've never had that.
No, with alcohol. Nice. I'm pretty drunk now. Cheers. Cheers. Thank you very much.
All right, guys, we're going to end off this video here, but this evening is continuing and
you will see it in the next video. The night, maybe a little bit. We got found a really bright
light here. It's a little bit too bright. The night is young for us. We meet Mike and Nelly.
We're heading over to Makati Poblacion area for dinner, drinks, a little bit of nightlife because
it is, of course, Friday evening. Thanks for your support on this one. Please leave a comment if
there's any other food markets, things we should try in Manila, in this area, wherever. Let us know,
guys, as you always do. Give the video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it. Wait, I have something else
to say. We were just walking out of the food market and we were like, this is really cool.
It's so crazy that we live here. I don't know. It's weird. We have these moments off camera. We're
filmed us talking about that. We were just talking about how nice the market was. I look like I'm
naked. George, I look like I'm naked. Oh, we don't want to get demonetized. Lucy is wearing clothes.
All right, guys, we'll see you in the next video. Please subscribe if you're not subscribed already.
If you're new around here, I'm George. She's Lucy. Daily travel vlogs, daily vlogs,
whatever you want to call it. We'll see you in the next daily juice. Bye-bye. See you soon.
