whoa okay
i just grabbed my phone so we just
lucy just thought i was shaking the bed
i said i literally said george why are
you doing that
because it was suddenly just like what
it's not me it's an earthquake
she's like no stop it stop it it's you
the bed so good morning good morning we
are not we weren't going to start the
vlog yet but i'll just grabbed my phone
um to record this little clip i think as
english people living in the philippines
we're still kind of
surprised every time that we have an
earthquake the last one was christmas
day and it's just reminding me of that i
couldn't believe it was on christmas day
it started
we woke up two and a half that one
actually woke us up christmas morning
here and luckily we actually have these
hanging lights in front of us which is
basically our
guide to when it's because basically
they swing like crazy
these these lights here
they start swinging around yeah when
there's an earthquake
and that actually happened this morning
that's our guide
but yeah good morning welcome to today's
vlog i guess
still in bed there are different types
of earthquake on there maybe it was a
different one because usually it feels
like shaking sideways
this felt like it was going up and down
that's why i was like george what are
you doing i felt like you were like
thumping up and down on the bed oh we
don't know what the situation is yet
yeah we went on twitter i every time we
have an earthquake just to check that
it's not just me
going crazy i got on twitter i searched
earthquake manila
hundreds of tweets already did you feel
that so i hope everyone's safe i i don't
we never know if it's a big one yet or
if it was localized here or if that was
just an aftershock of a bigger
earthquake somewhere else social media
is crazy it happened literally two
seconds ago
and there's already like news people
imagine is there more information people
in news teams must just have to jump on
it so quickly totally and there's
already like thousands of retweets and
likes and stuff
so the philippine star said just in an
earthquake was felt here in manila did
you feel it too where were you stay safe
hashtag earthquake ph
yeah so it's yeah a couple of minutes
ago uh
ah this is where it was lindal ph is
that the name of the earthquake
maybe i don't know strong quake felt
in parts of metro manila maybe it was
close wow it was
really strong because sometimes
earthquakes the christmas day one
it was a very like side to side you felt
a bit drunk and you felt a bit dizzy
it was like a side to side thing but
this the bed was going up and down
really fast yeah really really it didn't
last very long i'd say about
10 seconds maybe by the time you realize
it and realize what's going on it's
over usually that's kind of our
experience with earthquakes and how we
felt and stuff
what if we've got the clips from the
christmas day one lindor means
earthquake
oh i see in tagalog let's put in some
clips from the christmas day one see how
we were feeling there
okay we just woke up this morning george
was woken up to
an earthquake but it's so weird this is
our first
christmas in the philippines
and we get woken up by an earthquake
which would never happen
in the uk yeah interesting to look back
on that we've also had one of the
biggest videos on this channel
is when we felt an earthquake a big one
and we picked up the camera and that was
a devastating
yeah we'll put some clips in as well we
were in a restaurant and we
everyone was flooded out onto the
streets pre-covered time yeah
you can see how busy these streets were
in manila but that's something we've had
to adjust to life here in the
philippines
we don't get that in england we don't
get that in uk my dad grew up in canada
and i remember him telling us as kids
about earthquakes and stuff
yeah i think i've had a few and starting
qc
into gig yeah it feels like a metro
manila thing and until you experience
one yourself we
first the first one we ever experienced
was in bali until you feel one yourself
you can't describe it to people can you
no yeah and it takes a long time
for you to stop feeling it even if it
stops yeah in your head you kind of
still feel this rocking
and honestly i say probably twice a week
is this an earthquake
and you might be feeling dizzy you get
paranoid to it you get paranoid and you
think any little shake is an earthquake
um and also when you're a kid and you
see the films of it really shaky the
really bad ones
you think i used to think they were all
like that
and like you really don't want to be
caught in an earthquake but often
we will just feel a small murmur i
suppose
and i'm sure there's been so many
happening that we didn't even notice
yeah absolutely
i want to know where it was so it says
ah moderate earthquake mindoro
apparently they're not hundred percent
yet when we're filming this but in
mindoro
okay so it's not far from us and like
you can see here
so here is the different rings that show
so the stars where it happened
and then the rings of what the different
areas and then we're obviously in the
third ring in manila
um where it's been felt here so well so
actually it was quite far away
yeah so if you're in mindoro you'd have
felt it a lot heavier i guess but there
could be obviously aftershocks
if we have viewers from there and you're
are we just going to put this video on
that today
yeah it's like informative isn't it yeah
that's what we've done before with
earthquakes
well that's what we did with christmas
day wasn't it magnitude 5.8 that's quite
high
i think the manila one was 6.1 yeah
really
so it would have been felt like crazy i
hope everyone's okay
me too i really hope they are if you're
a viewer in that area if you've got any
viewers in that area let us know
let us know as let us know the situation
let us know um
kind of what it's like and if there's
been destruction or
injuries or anything like that then
obviously think about you yeah
like i can't we we often do videos about
how
we have to adjust to life in the
philippines because if you're new to the
channel
um we have basically been
not stuck here but we've basically been
here for the whole of covid for the
whole of the lockdown we haven't wanted
to travel anywhere else
for a number of reasons obviously due to
safety and
health reasons uh restrictions
borders travel that kind of thing so
we've been here the whole time and
there's been so many things
even small things like in yesterday's
vlog we mentioned that mother's day is
on a different day
yeah we've had to adjust to small things
here
and i think the natural disasters side
of it
or natural occurrences the typhoons and
we've seen a lot here we've done a lot
of storm watches from this
very balcony oh it's a nice day there's
your morning weather check kind of seen
a lot i guess
and it's interesting to have new
experience
like people from the uk if you stay in
the uk you would never experience a
typhoon or an earthquake so
i think it's interesting for us to
experience
these occurrences and also see how
people in another country deal with them
and we always say that
uh actually we don't know how bad this
one is today but we always say that if
that when there is these really bad ones
um how amazing it is that people in the
philippines
kind of get together to help the wider
community
it's trending on twitter there's only
five really really really really good
earthquake philippines
so excuse this very raw vlog
um but literally we just felt it we're
still in bed having our morning
cup of coffee watching a little bit of
youtube so it's 106 kilometers south of
manila
so we hope everyone in the area close to
where it happened
is safe and well these
condo buildings in metro manila
apparently they're built
and designed to withstand earthquakes so
there's actually special structures
within the buildings
like rollers or something or they absorb
a lot of the vibrations so clever
and i guess that's something that's not
considered in when you make a building
in england you don't consider that but
here
you don't it's like the number one
priority i guess anyway excuse the raw
vlog excuse
the camera quality because i've just
grabbed my phone because we literally
just felt it i feel like
excuse the croaky voices in the morning
i feel like we um
always like to document these moments
because we have a lot of viewers abroad
you might have woken up yeah
i don't know maybe you're gonna watch
this later when you wake up wherever
you're watching from
i think it's interesting you see on the
news that there was an earthquake in the
philippines and you might want to see
what's going on
or like what news there is from when it
just happened so that's the kind of
reason we do these videos to
let's raise awareness be like tell you
guys the current situation
and document it even for us to look back
on in years to come
to say wow remember remember that we
were just lying in bed and then there
was an earthquake yeah
so yeah i hope everyone's safe that's
the main message comment below if you're
from the area if you've heard anymore
how bad it was or hopefully it wasn't
severe but it sounds like it's quite a
big one
um they come out of nowhere don't they
it's crazy well i guess
all your hair i know my hair is this
video isn't about my hair we've just
woken up i've actually i don't sleep
with a hat on by the way
i that's yeah i wouldn't be surprised if
you did let's keep that on for now
anyway we're gonna
leave this vlog we'll see in a video uh
usual back to usual programming very
very soon but
we did just want to check in from our
bed there will be another vlog today
if you um enjoy bed vlogs let us know
because
that would be way easier for us no i
joking
um yeah hope everyone's doing well on on
a serious note
and stay safe and take care yeah as a
time stamp i think it happened at 9 10
a.m so comment below where you were when
it happened and your experience from it
and we love the comment section on these
videos because
people share uh information and help
each other out
obviously take it with a pinch of salt
because we're not a news channel and the
people commenting
i mean yeah this is purely documenting
what we've experienced this morning so
anyway we're going to end off this very
impromptu vlog yeah i can still feel it
though
do you think no no i don't think it's
all happening oh my head i still have
that i don't know why it takes me ages
to get they're still
they're still not totally still they're
still very slowly getting back to normal
there's lights
i don't know anyway if you were walking
on the street you would have noticed
because i looked outside straight away
and everyone's still walking
yeah you might not if you're walking
you're all bouncing and moving yourself
because
we were lying here so still anyway we
are gonna end this one
um we'll see you in the normal vlog
later on guys take care
