FINDING THE BEST GIFT FOR A 4 YEAR OLD!
Our last birthday in December is here and we are on the hunt for the perfect gift for a 4 year old! Unfortunately 4 year olds seem to be harder to shop for than we thought. After a long day of shopping at Target and then Costco, we think we finally found it!
We have something to return.
I feel kind of silly doing it.
Like, what's a good gift to get a four year old?
We went down every aisle.
Did we get her anything?
No, thanks.
Okay, I got one gift wrapped.
This one's gonna be a surprise, you guys.
Good morning.
How's it going, everybody?
Guys, today is a very special day.
It is the day before Adelyn's birthday.
So actually, I guess tomorrow is a very special day.
But we are at a very special place.
The Fancy Target today, guys.
We're at the Fancy Target.
We're going in.
We got Mary with us.
We are ready to buy some birthday presents.
We have no idea what we're getting her,
so we'll kind of figure it out as we go.
First off, guys, we have something to return.
I feel kind of silly doing it.
It's a whole bag of Halloween costumes.
The girls did not wear them.
So before you jump down our throats.
They did not get worn.
Angry that we're returning Halloween costumes.
They did not wear them.
They did not wear them at all.
Will they take them back?
Like, is there a policy on like Halloween
or seasonal things like that?
Well, joke's on us.
We don't have the receipt.
And for some reason, we never have cash
and we never pay in cash,
but we bought this in cash that day.
I think that's because we had that big yard sale
and had all that money.
We used it to buy these, of course.
Why would we buy Halloween costumes with cash?
And of course I didn't bring the keys with me.
So double joke on me.
So I can't put these back in the van,
which is what I was going to do.
I don't know, man.
What are you getting?
What are you doing?
Of course I find Danielle in the dollar section.
Every single time.
Listen, there's so many good things in here.
Like I just found these new cards for my business
and I like send out gifts and stuff to people.
Oh my God.
Cute.
Love it.
A dollar, a dollar.
Look at this.
Thankful for.
Adorable.
Whatever, dude.
I agree.
They're tiny.
The tiniest of the trees.
Oh, I love it.
Like Mary loves it too over here.
Danielle is totally a training up a child
in the way she should go.
I thought we were shopping for Adam.
I know, but what do you think about this?
I think he'd look like you could be Chewbacca.
Do you like it?
I mean, I guess.
I don't know.
Do I look hip?
You look like,
you do kind of look like Chewbacca.
If you had pants.
It's hip right now.
It is Chewbacca's hip.
Star Wars is in.
You're right.
Why are you going to be rude?
You like that?
Okay, so Maren, Maren likes everything.
And she pretty much wants it.
Look, she definitely will want this.
Oh yeah, like this.
These ones.
Get the little dandelion fuzz.
You like that?
Oh yeah, you don't like it too close, do you?
Watch this, watch.
My name is Olaf and I like warm hugs.
Give me a hug.
Oh my gosh.
She just pummeled her with the dang thing.
Poor baby.
Is this one better?
It's still scary, but it's better.
I was just pushing it away.
All right, that's enough, Ma.
It's a little too close.
She likes her personal space.
She really, really does.
Like the other girls will be like,
oh Mary, try to hug her.
And she's like, don't.
She does that to me and you too.
Okay, we're looking at some Melissa and Doug items here.
We got a magnetic matching picture game.
And then we got this little thing here.
These are all just things we're looking at right now.
Rock, paper, scissors, pickles.
What?
What is that?
We're at the end of the toy section.
We went down every aisle.
Did we get her anything?
No, I don't want to buy her just junk.
We're trying to get rid of stuff right now.
Like, what's a good gift to get a four year old?
When you don't want them to have.
Not that I don't want them to have a bunch of toys.
It's just, they don't care that much about toys.
If I don't want to have stuff,
they're not going to care about.
You guys think we should get this for Mary?
No.
Oh my gosh, no, that thing is creepy.
No, look at her.
Look at her face right now.
Do you like it?
How are you going to like that?
You don't like Sven.
You don't like a teddy bear,
but you like that thing.
No, she loves it.
Are you kidding me?
Look, she likes his teeth.
You're an odd one.
Are you trying to give it a kiss?
Oh my gosh.
Okay, that's it.
Mary never got a birthday present, so.
She didn't.
All right, there you go.
Happy birthday.
It's like a fuzz.
That's going to freak you out.
She can't.
I think she can't do that.
No, this one's not as scary as the other one was.
It's still, it's going to remind her of the other one.
Please, please make a good choice right now.
Isn't there something else that she would like?
If she freaks out, we'll get rid of it.
We're getting this.
A hundred percent, she will love this.
They can't play with Play-Doh
because it has wheat in it
and celiac disease, wheat is gluten, it's bad.
But this, leave a seat.
She's going to love this.
I'm certain of that.
So we ended up doing a little more
than just a birthday present shopping today.
We got some Christmas gifts for the kids,
which is also probably like the only time
we actually can get out of the house and do some shopping.
Might as well as make the most of it.
Okay, I got one gift wrapped.
This one's going to be a surprise, you guys.
Addie's rainbow dog that she wanted.
I stuck it on top instead of a bow.
We've got Paw Patrol movie, the kinetic sand.
This one, we're going to let John's parents give her
because his mom has to work
and I don't think she has time to go get a gift.
What?
I have the sticker pad right here.
I have one more gift upstairs I'm contemplating giving her,
but John is on his way back with them right now.
So I'm just trying to wrap these ones to have them done.
Come here, come here.
And this is new, Mary's my helper and my little helper.
She's trying to show me something.
What is it?
Go get it.
Oh, you want me to take you somewhere?
She wants me to take her to see something.
What are you trying to point at?
Anyway, so we are just, I'm like, John, we need balloons.
We need something, anything.
The cake is in the fridge.
Thanks to John's dad.
He went and picked it up yesterday and brought it over.
So we have a gluten-free cake for her.
Aw, yeah.
So I'm going to wrap these gifts.
You guys, I think sometimes we just set our like,
own expectations so high.
Kids are so happy just to be loved
with a few things that make them feel special.
And I think sometimes,
especially in the world of like Instagram and Pinterest,
where you can see everyone else showing up
with these like incredible talent,
crushing it on a whole nother level.
It's easy to like look at that
and feel like we have to keep up.
But at the end of the day,
know that what kids care the most about
is feeling seen and special and loved.
And I know that this is going to do that for Addy
and she's going to be so happy.
I think for me, I'm just in my own head about,
oh, we should have had, you know,
a little more intentionality and a little more this
and a little more that.
And there's always going to be that.
There's always going to be that voice saying
you didn't do enough.
You're not doing a good enough job, whatever.
But y'all, make the conscious choice to tune that voice out,
hug your kids, give them your full attention
and know that that's what they will remember.
And honestly, when I think back about it,
like do I remember how my birthdays were decorated?
No, I don't.
I remember certain things,
certain memories of people that I spent time with.
Maybe some of the things I got,
but for the most part, like my memories
with people around me.
Hi, stand out way more than anything else.
All right, what do you want?
She's putting out these cookies.
Let's go.
What do you want?
Let's see.
What is it?
What do you want?
The heavenly hunks.
Mary, is that what you want?
Look, she's doing more.
Oh, you're so funny.
She wants some cookies.
Okay, got to wrap these.
John's going to be back any minute.
Okay, Mary's being a troublemaker.
Mary's being a troublemaker.
I have no tissue paper.
So I am curling strips of this ribbon
and putting it in here.
Look, get me that.
Go get that one.
So I am just curling ribbon.
Paper, wrapping paper, okay?
No, Mary.
Oh my goodness.
Mary, I don't have time for this.
Hey, it's your sister's birthday.
It's Addy's birthday today
and we're about to do something fun, right Addy?
What are we doing?
Cake.
Yeah.
Yummy cake.
Are you excited?
Yeah.
How old are you?
Four.
Yes.
Oh no.
Addy, say four.
Yeah, that's right, four.
Addy, four.
How old is she?
Three?
Four.
Four?
Yeah, four.
If you saw our first pregnancy announcement video,
the parody video of Shut Up and Dance,
that was about Adelyn.
And so she's four now.
It's crazy to think that many years has already passed.
Since we started vlogging.
Because it was, it was like right at the beginning
of everything.
Yeah, that was the fourth video we posted.
That's why we started vlogging.
Yeah.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday dear Addy.
Happy birthday to you.
Chop, chop, chop.
Blow them all, hurry, all of them, all of them.
Good job.
Did you make a wish?
Mommy, I wish for the party.
You wish for the party, yeah.
Well you got your wish.
It's a rainbow, you see?
Red, blue, yellow.
Was that a rainbow cake?
Her one request is a rainbow cake.
And like, we forgot until after we ordered.
Anyway.
We made it work.
Without food dyes too, you know it's harder.
I don't even know if that bakery would use the natural dyes.
So, that's the rainbow cake.
I made it myself, I added the fruit.
What'd you say?
Happy birthday daddy.
Happy, happy birthday.
Oops.
How was it Addy?
Got a thumbs up.
Nice, you got a thumbs up.
Looking for more cake.
You see it?
I know it's around here somewhere.
It's so good.
Who gave, did you, was that yours?
You are the nicest.
Put a piece of hay in that manger.
She just gave Maren a little piece of her cake.
Maren, did you say thank you?
Let's watch John.
Oh, come on.
What'd you get, Addy, what'd you get?
Pup's changing.
Dude.
Stickers.
Whoa.
It's a sticker pad.
Sit back please.
Nice.
What do you think?
A puzzle.
Do you like it?
Or, like Nana.
Yeah.
Nana could come.
Dude.
Stop it.
What is it, what is it?
You know what that is?
She's looking to see what color it is.
A scissors.
Here, let me show you.
Look, you can cut hair.
You can pretend to cut hair.
See, look.
They're not real scissors.
They're not real scissors,
so you can pretend to cut hair.
You can come and, oh, cut, cut, cut.
Isn't that fun?
Look, it comes on a little apron,
so you wear it around your waist.
And you can go cut in people's hair.
What do you think?
Do you like it?
You ate chocolate.
No more.
I want the puppy one.
The puppy one?
Okay.
What'd you get?
Whoa.
This is what parents buy their kids gifts.
It's for us to like, see their like, joy.
I'm excited.
Look at it.
She's the only one who can't see.
Whoa.
Can we play?
I'll be both.
All right, so it's fair and safe to say,
if you're looking for a gift for a four-year-old,
these are a hit.
We're going to the after crashing boom.
Do you like your Toy Story toys, Addy?
I guess if you're looking for a toy for four and up,
to eight, then that's a good option.
So Adeline said she had a really good birthday.
I'll put that as a win in our books.
So I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
We will talk to you later.
Have a good one.
Bye.
Hey, thanks so much for watching.
