SHE GAVE HER SISTER A TERRIBLE HAIRCUT! | PARENTING FAILS
It was just one thing after another today. First we had no idea what was going on with our girls class today, then in the midst of all that confusion two of our daughters decided they needed to give each other haircuts. And this time, there's not much we can do to fix it. Today has been one parenting fail after another. Please tell us we aren't alone. Can anyone else relate?!
Look at her hair. Oh my god. Oh my god.
But happy Veteran's Day to everyone who is a veteran. First off, I just want to say that
because my dad was in the Navy, my brother was in the Army, he went to Afghanistan,
actually got injured and was medically discharged. His Humvee was hit by an RPG.
It was a pretty scary time for our family, especially because the information we were
getting from the military was not accurate information. So we got this like super extreme
crazy story that he like broke collar, like all his bones were all broken, all this stuff.
He still had some pretty significant injuries, lots of shrapnel, but not to the extent that they
said. So it was like a really scary time for us. So my brother's been in the thick of it. So we
just have so much tremendous respect for our military. And with that said, thank you so much
if you've served, if you are family of someone who is serving or has served, thank you so much.
We really just appreciate all you're doing for our country. So we have a really cool day out
this morning. It was like in the like high 20s, low 30s through the night. It's giving me high
hopes for snow this year. So, you know, I know some people already are getting snow. That's crazy.
If you're getting snow, let me know in the comments below. I want to see how many people I can be
jealous of today because I want some snow. Okay, so the girls have American Heritage Girls Today.
They have been doing this for like, how long now, you guys? Like three months. Yeah, a few months.
They are, are you loving it? They're loving it. They are all dressed today because it is a very
special day. What do you guys have? It's our ceremony and we get our gold thing, gold awards.
It is the flag ceremony day, which is so suiting because it is also Veterans Day.
They are getting, these two are getting their joining awards, which means they're officially
a part of the troop. So it is kind of a big day for them. They have to know the oath. They have
to know the creed and then they have to know some information about how American Heritage Girls
started. You don't have to memorize it, baby. You just have to know what it is so that you can
say you accept it. Okay. And then they have to know some information about how American
Girls started. Jude is going along for the ceremony. She is still a pathfinder because of
her age. So next year she will be a tender heart like the big girls. So they are going to be
getting ready to go. Normally their meetings are Monday nights, but today, because it's a flag
ceremony, it is actually this afternoon from 12 to 3 or 1230 to 3. They're going a little early
because they got to prepare for their joining awards. John is going to take them because if
you can't tell, I am not feeling great. I have actually been in bed all morning, whatever.
He passed to me. That's what I get for calling it a man flu. So I've just been kind of feeling
crummy. So John's going to take them. Hopefully Everly's going to nap and I'm just going to hang
out with Addy. Marin is asleep until they get back. When does it start? It started in Ohio.
What year? 1995. Yeah, girl. Tyler, do you hear that? You got to know all those things.
All right. What's the oath? I promise to love God, cherish my family, honor my country.
All right. Are you ready? Yeah. The girls are ready for you. We're not prepared for that. So
if you need anything, just come home. It's not far from our house. Thankfully,
I'm going to go lay back down. I'm starting to feel really like my head. All right, let's go
kids. We're out the door. We're already running behind. Typical. Oh no, you're not an American
heritage girl. You're a puppy dog. All right, guys, I just got back in the car. I don't know
what's going on. I don't even think Jude's supposed to be there. I'm calling Danielle right now
because I don't know what's going on. Hello? Hey. Are they naked? Yeah, but I don't know what's
going on. I don't even think Jude's supposed to be there. And it's like a class or something.
Like not at all? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not. I didn't see anybody wearing the same shirt she
was wearing. I think, I mean, they seemed okay with her being there, so I think I'll just leave
her in there. But I don't think, like I asked them, I was like, am I supposed to stick around
here? And they're like, no, you can leave. And I said, okay, what time are you back? And she said,
be back at like 3.30 whenever this ends. So I was like, okay. So I don't know what's going on.
I don't know. I saw some snacks in there. So I mean, there's an orange. I was like,
eat an orange, I guess. And I guess I can, if I need to bring him something,
I can bring him something. But all right. Yeah. I'll just be home in a second. Bye.
What did you do, John? What did you do? You guys. I didn't know what was going on. I still
don't know what's going on. Apparently it is not a ceremony at all. What it is, is a,
they're working on a badge. It's a workshop. It's a workshop for them to learn and get their flag
badge. So they're learning all about the flag, flag etiquette, when to fly it, how to fly it,
how to fold it up, how to put it away, how to store it, how to carry it in a parade,
how to do all the things. That's what they're learning today. Your sisters are learning about
So it's really a take your kid, drop them off and leave while they learn all the flag things for
their flag badges. Are any of you on the same parenting bus that we are on right now? The one
that shows up late with your kid, who's supposed to be in her full uniform, missing a scarf. Cause
Lord knows we looked and could not find it anywhere. And wearing rainbow, sparkly rain boots
and to a thing that you thought was a whole ceremony. And it's actually just a workshop
and Jude wasn't even supposed to go. I don't know either. Um, that's what,
that's the level of parenting we're at right now. I didn't even know they didn't have school today
until yesterday. So there's that. And this massive pile of laundry, which I guess now,
since we don't have any kids, we can party. Or we can party. We can push off the bed and
pretend that kid doesn't exist. And then what? And then we'll put it back on the bed again tomorrow.
Oh, and then what? Oh, just kidding. Um, keep this PG rated. We too. Why don't we,
why don't we watch home improvement and full laundry? Oh gosh. How did you not see this?
What? Look at her hair. Oh my God. Oh my God. Addie, did you cut Everly's hair? Adeline,
why? Why? No, no, no, no. Oh no, no. She's got more. Oh my gosh. Addie, did you cut your own hair?
You did. Sit down. Let's see. Let's see. Oh M goodness. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.
Them kids, they bring stinking scissors in this room and they cut a paper and then this happens.
We thought they were watching a show in here cause they were. And then they found some scissors.
That. Oh, and here's some of Addie's hair. Yep. And here's the doll. Or here's the scissors.
And there's hair all over the floor. There's hair here. Some hair right here. Hair right here. Like
the whole back of Ev's head is like just short. It's just short.
Ev, why would you let her do that? Addie does not have good ideas.
Oh yeah. There's a big pile of it in the other room. Yeah. Cause she finally has hair.
It took her like two years to grow any and in one fell swoop. Hey, come talk to me. Come here.
Hey, come here. Hey, come here. Give me a hug. It's going to be okay.
Why did you do that though? Remember the last time you did that and we said,
don't do that anymore. Why'd you do it? What made you do it?
The scissors made you do it? This one cut my hair so it can grow like a berry tree.
Like a what? Like a berry tree. You were cutting your hair like a berry tree?
Come show Addie your hair. I thought it looked rather thin. Oh my goodness. And it's on the side.
I mean it just kind of looks like the like scene kid emo haircut. No, no, no. It does. Like they
cut it short in the background and left it long. No, they didn't. They cut it short in the front.
No, I've seen it all. Or short in the back and long in the front. Not short. No, I've seen it
like this. No, you haven't. That's called a mullet. Yeah, that's what they did. That's what they were
doing like towards the end of my scene days. Well, I saw this part sticking up right here and I was like,
what's in her hair that's making her hair stick up like that? And I started looking. I was like,
oh, it ends. It just kind of goes and stops. What happened? And then I saw it. I was like,
oh my gosh, the rest of her hair looks really thin. Oh no. And then I saw the back.
We are on a roll today. Okay. There was a movie on in the other room. John started a movie for
Addie. I told you guys like Addie was watching a movie. Ed went in there. We're like, okay,
you're going to watch a movie too. Cool. Left the room. The other day when John's mom was here,
his mom was making puppets out of paper with the girls. It might be. No, it's our girl's fault,
but they were making puppets up in their room with scissors and they are not allowed to have
scissors in the room, but there was an adult with them and they were doing something fun with her.
And so I didn't say anything about it, but normally they're not allowed to take scissors
in their room because, well, because of things like this, but most also because they always just
cut up paper and leave little paper pieces. So I was like, clean up, clean up. They did. Okay.
Didn't even think to say, did you bring the scissors back downstairs?
Apparently they didn't. Um, because John found three pairs of scissors, which makes sense. Tyler,
Elena, and Jude. So this whole time I'm like, oh, they're just watching a movie quietly. This
is so sweet. They never do that. Like how wonderful not haircut from hell.
It is like Addie. When she cut her hair last time, it was pretty bad.
This takes the cake. Mary, when your hair grows, don't let your sisters cut it.
Hey guys, there's seven days left for my Kickstarter campaign. I'm not gonna lie.
It's not looking too good. I haven't really been focused on talking about the last, like,
I don't know, two weeks, I guess it's been just like some of my dad and then just
busyness around the house. I haven't had a chance to mention it. Um, got a long,
long ways to go, but here's the thing. If we don't make, uh, the goal, the album is still
happening. I already have other plans for it, um, on how to help it get funded, uh, that I didn't
think about before. So, you know, I'm not too worried about it, but if you want to help it get
funded, um, I'll put the link in the description for you guys right now. If you go and get any of
the, um, rewards options that are at least a $2 or more option, you are going to get,
uh, I still remember to download right now. So, um, go do it if you can. If not,
I appreciate it. I appreciate so much all the people that have already done that.
Um, it means a lot that even have the support we've already gotten. So, um, I can't wait to
share some of these songs with you and some of the music. I just, I've been kind of letting some
friends listen to what we're doing and everybody's just like, man, this stuff's really good. And so
I'm really excited to share that with you guys when it's time to release it. So, um, let me go
get the kids and, uh, let's get on with this crazy day. How was it guys? Oh, that's very rude.
She says she wished I never came back. No, I said I thought you'd never come back. Oh,
that's what I thought. Right on time. When it's time to leave. That's because mom sits outside.
I went home because those three hours she sits outside. Yeah. Can you believe it?
Guess what? There's a silly surprise of the house.
Not anything that exciting. It's just more silly. Oh no. We dropped the flag. Oh no. It's not the
real one. The real one's in your hand. Okay. No, we're not getting another puppy. All right guys,
tell me, what'd you learn about the flag? How to float it. You learned how to float it?
What happens if you drop it on the ground? It gets all muddy. I had some combinations for that.
Do you know what they were? What? It feels like, um, um, um, um,
on the ground and they dropped it and then it rains last night and then it wept in at night time.
What do you do with it if it does that? Do you have to get rid of it? I have to retire it.
Oh, okay. You have to retire it? Yeah, if you can't fix it. How do you retire it?
Oh, you, you bury it. No, you don't. You put it on the fire, on fire and it turns into ashes.
Yep. You put it on. Nice. So they learned all about the flag and proper handling of the flag.
Yeah. So I had to bring a snack for them. They had oranges and other things,
but oranges was the only thing they could eat. And they literally had,
how many oranges did you have Tyler? You had 10 oranges? I was hungry. Oh my gosh. And I had five.
Five and I'm fine. I guess I should have brought them a snack. I thought they could hit, they just
ate lunch before we left. So I was like, they'll eat some oranges, eat an orange. They'll be okay.
Then we go and have a snack at home or something. I guess not. They had to have a thousand oranges
and I can't believe they gave them a thousand oranges. Whatever. Let's get home. Let's get home.
Hey, tell mommy how many oranges you ate today. 10. Are you serious? I ate six and she ate five.
Why? We were hungry. Alayna, oh, your stomach. Oh, that is so much citrus.
Do you guys want to see part of the surprise? Yes. It's not a surprise for you. It's just
something that's very surprising. Wait, do you see it? Oh, well wait till you see Everly's haircut.
Adelyn cut their hair. Daddy did it. Here, show them more. Why didn't you cut it? I didn't. You
think I would cut that like that? Look at her. Look, wait. It's okay, buddy. I'm sorry. Hey,
do you want to be a hairstylist when you grow up? She said no. She's like, I've tried. I've
tried it twice now and it's not working. I'll show you guys. Okay, are you ready? Hold on,
don't look yet. Okay. I'm going to show Alayna first.
It was so long and now look. Stop, stop, stop.
Basically, all the hair in the back is gone. Yeah. It's like this long. Yeah. Kind of like
Maren. It's not really surprising. It's not really surprising. She's too funny.
But here's where we're actually at with this. And then
look at this. All right, Addy, what do you think we should do? Should mommy try to trim your hair
and fix it a little bit? No. Are you going to cut it again? Are you going to cut your hair again?
Are you going to cut Everly's hair? Anybody's hair? Good answer. No more haircuts from Adelyn.
I might have to do something about Ev's just at least like trim the bottom and make it like a
little less dramatic of a mullet, but it's so short in the back. There's not really much hope.
So we're just going to have to put her in some ponytails and let her grow up.
Ponytails every day for Ev. I'm going to go. Me and Addy are going to rest. She's sleepy.
They have all been a little bit off the norm since the time changed. Everybody's been waking
up at like, I don't know, five o'clock in the morning. So they've all been really exhausted and
just struggling a little bit through the days. But Addy took a good nap today. We're going to
snuggle a little and then have dinner, you know, do the thing. They got school tomorrow.
We love you guys. I hope that you have enjoyed this wonderful day full of parenting fails. I
hope this video has made you feel better about your parenting. We didn't, we didn't even plan
for half of it or any of it. This is just normal life here. Hope it makes you feel a little bit
more normal, a little bit more sane. When I'm saying that I'm actually hoping that y'all will
comment below and let me know that we're not the only ones. Okay. We love you guys.
