Good morning, guys.
Welcome back to another Daily Juice.
Welcome to our Saturday.
You join us this morning
as we are heading out on our morning run.
It is Saturday morning,
which means the running track is usually very, very busy.
We're gonna do a bit of dodging of people today, I think.
That's an exercise, isn't it?
If you're new around here,
please hit that subscribe button if you can.
Hope you're all doing well.
Let me know in the comments what you're up to today,
what you're up to this weekend.
We are heading straight out.
It looks like a hot one today,
so get ready to switch to some sweaty shots.
Headphones on, mask on, and lastly, music on.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, post-run sweat is on.
Oh, I'm the color of a tomato,
but the Greenway Park is looking so nice.
They're putting so many new plants and flowers there,
and it's just a pleasure to run that route every day,
or most days, at the moment.
I do think, however, we just, quick weather check,
we just missed this huge storm coming in.
It started to get a little bit dark
towards the end of our walk,
and you can literally see the rain down there.
Feels like there's a lot of rain at the moment,
but it's all good.
I quite like watching it.
There we go.
That coffee machine is extremely noisy, but well worth it.
We finished our workouts, we've showered,
we are preparing some, I say we,
Lucy is preparing some breakfast,
I am preparing the coffee.
Lucy is making us some scrambled eggs
on some delicious sourdough that we got from this place,
which does the best sourdough ever,
and she's also, this morning, made her hummus as well,
her famous hummus.
I mean, I've just said what you're cooking,
but I just wanted to kind of do this shot here,
because this reminds me of the original quarantine vlogs.
I'll do a recap then.
So we've got sourdough with hummus, scrambled eggs,
I'll have some tomatoes, George won't,
some coffee, and some smoothies,
but I'll show you them,
they're in the fridge cooling down currently.
I'll show you them in a second.
Right.
So I've started doing something on my Instagram recently.
I've done it like twice.
Well, actually, today's the second day,
so I've done it once.
Follow me on Instagram to see.
I've been doing like what I eat in a day,
like a little grid of all the food I eat,
because we always get questions asking what food we eat,
so I've just taken a picture for that.
So I've got hummus with some scrambled eggs.
I've a tiny bit overdone the eggs,
but don't at me in the comments.
Salt, pepper, chili flakes, hummus, tomatoes,
and then I've got a smoothie,
which consists of banana, avocado,
moringa leaves, turmeric, chia seeds,
almond milk, spinach, and water.
So I have this, George has something similar,
he doesn't have the spinach in it,
but he has extra, oh, I have peanut butter as well.
Oh, peanut butter, yeah.
He has extra banana, extra peanut butter,
and extra almond milk, plus protein powder.
Yes.
That's the best I've had so far.
Really?
I've also got a double espresso.
So we're gonna eat our breakfast,
and then we're gonna head out.
Now this may look like a familiar area
in several of our vlogs.
We do film walking around here quite a lot,
but we've never acknowledged something around here.
Let's let Lucy tell the story.
As George said, we're here all the time.
There's this amazing tree structure
in the middle of Burgos Circle here in BGC.
Let me show you right now quickly.
This thing, there's lights at night,
and it looks beautiful.
It's a bit of a random and unusual piece of art
clonked in the middle of a roundabout.
And I just wanted to find out what it is.
So I did some Googling, I did some research,
and the story behind this thing
is a lot cooler than I first thought.
You'll often find people here taking selfies.
Or even filming TikToks.
No one's filming TikToks right now,
but you could film a TikTok.
So the, I think it's made, what's it made of?
Ow, ow, that's harder than I thought.
I think it's metal.
Oh my God, yeah.
And it's so big, it's, I've never been in here.
I've never been inside this thing, ready?
Ooh, so cool.
So should we sit down and explain what's going on, or?
Yeah, sure.
Thank you guys, thank you.
So the reason that we're showing you this today,
and that we've only really ever walked past it
and not really acknowledged it,
is because we found out something incredibly interesting.
And it kind of leads on from what we were talking,
oh, there's a Ferrari over there.
Kind of leads on from what we were kind of talking about
this morning on our morning run.
That whole area is being transformed.
Let's wait for this trolley to pass.
This is not the best place to film a video.
And we're being very dramatic
about the reason behind this tree.
I think we need to just get to the point.
BGC is incredibly green.
As you saw this morning,
they're planting a ton of new trees,
a ton of new things.
They're making the place look really nice,
nicer than it already is.
And yes, Lucy recently discovered
by reading something online, that this area.
Are you seriously taking the limelight?
Is inspired by a place in Singapore,
which is really cool.
And it ties in with the whole BGC,
because Singapore is an incredibly green place.
So there's all the buildings and stuff.
We've been to Singapore, comment below,
Singapore, Singapore.
Comment below if you've seen our Singapore vlogs.
We've been there only once actually, last year.
But they bring a load of greenery into the city,
which is similar to kind of what they do in BGC.
So when we figured out that this area
was inspired by Singapore,
and the name is even similar,
Lucy will explain more about that in a second.
We were like, okay,
we actually have to stop just walking past this
and not even looking properly
and come and appreciate it,
come and acknowledge it.
This is a place where people hang out on weekends,
where they walk their dogs.
It's a safe green space.
They've even got the safe zone for working out and things.
But now we'll flip to Lucy
with a few more facts on the matter.
I feel like we're presenting a travel show today, George.
I'm like, thank you to my co-star.
Full travel vlog mode.
Over to Lucy in the studio.
No, anyway.
Ah, I'm currently doing the Asian squat,
as they call it.
Well, I'm trying to,
but my ankles, no,
my heels never seem to be able to touch the ground.
So there's a place called Bugis,
Bugis, Bugis,
don't know how to pronounce that,
village in Singapore,
which again, Burgos, Bugis,
similar spelling, similar name.
This circle was first kind of built in 2009.
So it's actually older than I thought.
I feel like it looks very modern still.
And especially with all the big high rises around it,
it just looks so, so cool.
So this tree behind me is made of bronze and brass,
if you want the specific metal,
commissioned by the Bonifacio Art Foundation.
George, guess how many feet it is.
Have a little look.
What do you think?
Quicker than that?
45?
Feet, 45 feet.
It's 21, George, calm down a bit.
45 feet, it's double.
Always aim high, guys.
And it actually apparently consists
of three interlocking trees,
which create this dome,
which I didn't actually notice,
but yeah, that makes sense.
There's three little trunks there
and they create this one big tree.
It says here on Wikipedia that the trees
are a reminder of the progress, development
and preservation of Mother Earth,
while the branches represent stability.
More recently, the sculpture became a romantic place
for couples to meet.
And in 2016, became a major landmark
for those playing Pokemon Go.
No way.
Do you remember in the UK,
George and I were addicted to Pokemon Go
at one point when it first came out.
We did a vlog.
We did a vlog and we were just going on the seafront
and you'd see everyone on their phones
trying to catch Pokemon.
They're playing Pokemon Go.
People back there were playing Pokemon Go.
It's ridiculous.
They're playing Pokemon Go.
And I guess this must have been,
you know like on the pier in Worthing,
that was like a hotspot,
I guess this tree,
while we were there on the pier,
people were in this tree at the same time as us.
How weird is that?
Beneath Fergus Park and Circle
is a 72 meter wide,
six story deep basin for retaining flood water
that flows into Manila Bay.
Far away.
That's crazy.
Anyway, enough history for today.
Let me know in the comments what you think.
You've been here before.
What you thought when you came here
and if you're gonna head here after seeing this video.
Nice.
So here's a weekend.
It's Saturday.
This is one of the nicest places to come and just sit.
Like you're allowed to sit here again now.
A few weeks ago,
a few months ago,
pretty much most of this year
you weren't really allowed to sit here
but they've kind of said,
as long as you're distant,
you can sit down again.
You can relax a little bit.
It's a bit nicer when it's sunny to be fair.
But the weather today is okay.
You might see with the lighting of the vlog,
it's a little bit dark,
a little bit gloomy.
It hasn't rained yet,
but it is about to get there.
We haven't done our weather check.
Let's just tilt up.
I did that this morning.
Did you do it?
All right, no need.
A little bit gray, a little bit gloomy,
but you know, we're British.
That reminds us of home.
We're not too bothered about that.
Our plans are often dictated by
whether we want to go and film something,
whether we need coffee
or whether we need food.
Now we've just filmed this
and we've shown you this.
We've just had a lot of coffee
and I'm not really that hungry
because we just had a huge breakfast.
So I think all that's left to do
on this Saturday afternoon
is a relaxing stroll around.
So we're going to go the long way.
We're going to walk up there.
Then we're going to go right around
to the high street.
And at that point,
we are going to end off this vlog
because we are going to show you
what we get up to for the rest of the day
in tomorrow's vlog.
So do come back tomorrow
if you're enjoying the videos.
