Good morning guys, welcome back to another daily juice. Today is a very unusual day for us.
We're about to eat out in a restaurant for the first time since early March, early March. So
it's been months and months and months. We are meeting Mike and Nelly at a restaurant in BGC,
a German place. So they do really good sausages. They do beer. Maybe we'll have a beer. I don't
know. It's a Tuesday. Who knows? And it's going to be really strange because Manila has just
been moved on to GCQ. NCR has been moved on to GCQ literally today from midnight as in yesterday
midnight or today midnight. I don't know which way round it is. It means that there's some more
changes that have been made. It means that some restaurants are now doing eat-in. Obviously it's
going to be very different to the eat-in we're used to. It's going to be very separate. It's
going to, we're going to bring like hand sanitizer and wipes and make sure we clean the cutlery and
stuff before eating. But it's just going to be interesting. This is such a strange moment in
time for everyone right now. And we just wanted today to document the first meal out since this
whole thing began. We're meeting Mike and Nelly. We thought we'd invite them along today to
experience this together. I believe they're vlogging as well today. We'll leave their
channel link below. So please go and check them out. Give them a subscribe. If you're new around
here, we traveled with Mike and Nelly across the Philippines for like pretty much a year.
I'm going to say it pretty much was a year eventually in the end, at least like five
months solid travel with them. They're good friends of ours. They live in Makati and Manila.
This is going to be strange. I wonder how many times we've eaten out with Mike and Nelly over
the last like two years. Probably 4 million. Probably over a hundred. Oh yeah, way over a
hundred. It was like six months of travel solid. If you imagine breakfast, lunch and dinner,
that's more than a hundred. Loads and loads and loads. But it's going to be, it's going to be
strange. It's going to be very distant eating, but we just wanted to see things starting to like
try and reopen. We just wanted to like experience what it's going to be like
eating at a restaurant. We're like, we're going to be so careful. We don't want to do anything
that's going to put any like us in any harm or our friends or anyone else. Or like the restaurant
staff and stuff like that. So we're pretty sure it's going to be very, very distant eating, masks.
We've got our own hand sanitizer, so we're going to be safe. If it looks dodgy, we won't do it.
If it's like they've just opened as normal, we're not going to do it. We walked past yesterday and
we saw that they're doing like outdoor seating. So already that feels a bit safer. It's not like
circulating in the air kind of thing. I don't, I honestly don't know how it works, but that's what
we've done. Your skin looks very smooth by the way. I was just staring at your skin. I'm a beauty
blogger now. I'm a beauty blogger. Didn't do a weather check this morning, so I'm going to give
you guys one now. It is boiling. Really, really, really hot today. It is 25 to three. We're actually
on time for something for once, which is good. We don't have internet at the moment on our phones
because we haven't needed it like 4G. We haven't needed it to go out and about. So we said to
slightly old, it's like the 70s. The olden days. Where you had to message them on WhatsApp before
you left the house. It's like we said, we'll see you there at three, but until then we can't
contact you at all. So hopefully it all works out. If they can't, we won't ever know.
The restaurant we're going to try and go to is just over here. Although it looks really busy
they're obviously going to be halving down the tables, aren't they? Or more, but let's see. Let's
see what we can do. Are they here yet? I don't think they're here yet. So I've got these signs
here that's like, do not occupy. Hi. Yes, please. For four? Yeah, we'll wait for them here and then
we'll decide. Thank you. Okay, so we're just waiting for a table. Well, not waiting for a table,
waiting for Mike and Nelly. To see if we want to sit inside or outside. When we came here yesterday,
I only saw the ones outside available, but now that we're on GTQ, I think they've opened up
inside as well. Yeah, and this is like a huge strip here. There's loads of restaurants along
here, but this one seems to be the only one that's open right now. But I guess as time goes on,
a few other things will open for a dine-in. A lot of things are open for takeaway and stuff.
This is the first one we've seen that has a dine-in. There they are hiding in the bushes.
You can always spot a vlogger with the camera.
I know. Yeah, we haven't got any umbrellas to say hello. Air high fives.
Sound effect now. So we have two options. We can eat outside or inside.
Nelly, did you not get the memo? We sent a memo early on.
You have to have white shoes with something. Oh, they are white.
That's good. That's good. We got all the colour palettes. Very nice. Very nice.
I can hear them laughing about sausage party. Did you just say we're having a sausage party?
That's pretty accurate, actually. That's true. Lucy loves a sausage party. Has been known.
We're going to be very separate, I think. Out of the four seats, two you can sit on,
two are sanitised, two you can't sit on. And there's a big glass screen in between as well,
so you can't spit your food onto each other. Can't have food fights. That's quite good, actually.
Yes, please. Four tables before, probably. This is funny because this is the last restaurant we
ate at before lockdown as well. Like the day before we came here. That's like a full circle.
That's new. So basically there's a contact tracing and health declaration form that we need to use
our phone to scan this QR code and then sign something to say that we're kind of, does it
look like a health form? You just do it on your camera.
Now here there's the tracing and health declaration and we have to say whether or
not we've had any of these symptoms in the last 14 days. I will go with no for all of them. I'm
not feeling unwell. Have you travelled to any Covid hotspot in the last 14 days? Who knows?
Been in contact with farm animals. Interesting, no? Okay, and there's also a one-way system on
the floor here as well, like the malls. I've been inside a restaurant for months. This actually
feels really strange. It feels like we shouldn't be in here. I don't know what to do. And you've
got loads of these glass screens as well. I guess we're going to have to be separated by these glass
screens. Yeah, definitely. Maybe they'll seat us. So where should we sit? Okay, thank you.
So one pool each. Okay, these two are the ones that more like to spit each other's food out,
so they can go with the glass screen. Nelly, we can play shot. Welcome. What can I do for you?
Something that I was highly concerned with about being in restaurants is the menus and touching
the menus, which is actually another QR code just here that we can scan and then using our own
phones, we can look at the menu, which makes a whole lot of sense. I think we're going to be
seeing this in a lot more places in the future as well. So it's good. It's really like anti-social,
because it's social distancing. You're just looking at your phone. Yeah, true. Things
haven't changed. Look now, which sausages we're going to go for today. We were just deciding
whether to have a beer or not, and Nelly thankfully goes, okay, I need some beer. Yes, didn't have to
be the one to suggest it, but now it's all good. Even though it's Tuesday afternoon, I feel like
I'm either retired or a student. The last time we ate out just before, like a day before the first
quarantine, this is the restaurant we came to. Cheers. Now I remember what it's like hanging
out with vloggers. From a distance, that's something we say in German. Really? Yeah, so if somebody gets like you're too far away, then we say. Oh, that's cool. There you go.
Okay, so George and I often do this. We order two main meals and share. So we've got some,
kind of switched it up. I've got three of one and two of the other, and George's got
three of... Okay guys, here we go. First time eating out in over three months. Four months, I think.
Maybe four months. The first bite. We've actually cleaned our own cutlery. Here we go. Okay, let's go straight in there.
I've got a lot of takeaway food. It's always been a little bit cold. So having like a nice hot meal.
All right, we're sanitized up. Leaving the restaurant. Good experience all around, right?
So nice. Really nice. I felt like life was back a little bit. No, it's like the old days.
Interesting. So if you're watching this in 2025, this is what life used to be like.
Crazy. Crazy that we're documenting this time. Thank you. Thank you.
So good to be out and about with these guys. I think that was a good experience overall.
Everything in the restaurant was set up for like the new normal. The phone scan thing when you go in
as things start to open again. The precautions that that particular restaurant are taking.
We can already say I'm very, very good. We felt safe in there. There wasn't a lot of people in
there. If there was a lot of people, we may not have gone. We may not have done it.
And it's this weird time where it's kind of going into like a new normal, but also kind of still on
the edge where we wouldn't recommend anyone go to busy places and things like that. But
genuinely, as you saw in the video, hopefully it showed that we really, really were separated out
and every precaution was taken to keep us safe and to keep the staff safe at the same time.
Coffee man back in action. Thank you very much. Thank you.
Bottom cheers.
YouTube Red. You too. Good to see you.
Absolutely. We're glad you're back in Manila. All right. We'll see you very soon.
Oh, we just got back guys. Got a little bit of a sweat on.
It's very, very warm out this evening. It's now 6.30. It's all right. I'm used to it.
We ended up walking up to the mall to pick up some bits that we needed. So
we've been walking for a lot and I'm very tired now.
It's good exercise. Good exercise. So nice.
To have some beer.
Yeah. Yeah, it was. No, it was.
We had some huge beers each, so I'm feeling a little bit tipsy now, but it was really lovely.
Let us know wherever you're watching from in the world. We have viewers
from all over the world, which is insane. Let us know what the situation is. Are things opening
up where you are? Are restaurants opening? Is dining a thing yet? We're not going to make like
a total regular habit of it.
No. It was just nice to celebrate that moment today, I think.
Yeah.
But I think we still feel safe for being in really.
Yeah. We still want to stay indoors.
You're so sweaty.
More than not, I know.
Hopefully this isn't too like high definition.
