Staying in The Philippines FOR GOOD?

[Music] well I thought what welcome well well welcome to our garden we're currently staying in Lu and we thought we would film a sit-down Q&A today because we do this once every so often but we got a month as we're here at the beach while this is hot if we're going to try and do this in one take very little editing we're going to get through some questions Lucy asked us some questions on the community post and you guys delivered as always so get comfortable get a drink get snack let's answer your questions for you to feel sunshine in our garden we've got like nice plants and flowers around us yeah we did we were really hot as well but because we turn the air con off in the apartment do you remember oh yeah because of the noise oh you're just slowly sweating during the video right question one if you could relive one experience in your life over and over again what is it online oh wait they may be the main healthy guys well thanks for me it would be when we first decided we were moving to the Philippines and we knew that we could experience things like this the whole time the excitement of finding our apartment finding our place having an amazing audience who watch the videos and engage with us and that whole yeah it was like a period of maybe 2 or 3 weeks we were like wow this is actually happening it's going here we got our own place is really really cool I think similar for me but maybe when we hit like 100k because that was when it was like okay this is getting kind of real now obviously the audience before that was incredible but then like suddenly we raced up to 100 kala within a few weeks I'm true it was like oh my god Wow because the whole thing before was like a risk of coming away and like I mean our jobs and this is like oh it's actually kind of work we weren't full-time youtubers before yeah and it was on that journey that were like oh wow we believe we can actually start to do this full-time dream I'm just insanely grateful for this yeah every day we wake up we're grateful so yeah I get to you God I do relive that every day technically we are live reliving it every single day really yeah so yeah it's any great fool if there was only one Filipino dish you'd eat for the rest of your life what would it be one chicken in Assam I mean I just love that it's just chicken barbecue with rice with some soy sauce vinegar with calamansi squeezed on the top perfect meal I could eat that every day three times a day probably if I had to mine would be sin again because I feel like it's quite healthy you get some good nutrients from the vegetables you get a good amount of water in it that's good it's for me I feel like it's a good all-rounder - plans for 2020 or your main goal for this year I don't know for me well for both of us we discussed goals and stuff for this year we want to mean we wanted with YouTube and works I think we want to continue to create a lot of videos on this channel we want to travel a lot we want to see a lot of things we want to do a lot of cool things we also a goal of ours was to launch our own separate channels which we have done just like expand content around make more videos make more really focus on the content and making videos the thing we love the most is making videos you get the idea of the 2020 goals and also know to look after ourselves a bit more because I think last year we were very full on like we said and we didn't take days off we didn't really take very many breaks yeah I'm so listening to ourselves a bit more like once a quarter having a few days completely off and just switching off from social media yeah we're trying to have one day off a week yeah ourselves because we weren't taking any days off so that means no emails no filming no editing no you know not even been on our phones because a load of what we do is on our phones it's easy to suddenly get caught up in DMS or emails when you're just looking for your phone like because we love it and it's fun but we did we have realized last year if we just go go go go go we can experience burnout I'm gonna burn out sat here we don't do that this year so it's weird because it's almost like the goal is to do more and make more content and go crazy and also the goal is to look after ourselves so for us it's like finding the balance this is exactly like that book I was reading stillness is the key by Ryan holiday I've said about it in the vlogs before but it's exactly what you said it's about expanding and doing more but also being able to do it by doing less like yes is focusing on the things that matter not caring about the other things as much and just generally like it's kind of like some weird balance thing but it but we're working on it it's going well so far at which point in time did you each realize that you would definitely want to settle in Philippines I think when we first went away we said to people we were like we're going traveling for I don't know how long there was no set amount of time and we've had a few conversations saying maybe we'll settle down somewhere but we don't know where yet we've not been there yet that was the only kind of hint we had before seeing the Philippines then when we kept coming back when we saw how much there was here when we fell in love with the country in the people and everything there is here like how diverse is we were still very much traveling so we like really didn't have in our minds obsessing anywhere then a few months later we were like oh how nice would it be to have a base somewhere in Asia obviously Philippines was the absolute top of the list and it just kind of fell into place really we just said it'd be amazing to have a place it'd be amazing to live in the Philippines it'd be amazing to have a base it'd be amazing for that base to be in the Philippines so we can explore more of the country and also have it is like a point in the middle of Asia to travel elsewhere and it just kind of made sense really didn't it it totally made sense it was there wasn't one day they turned a turning point I think when I started looking like physically looking online for apartments and stuff that was well not okay this could be really cool I think we decided a few months before that we wanted to do it or least explore it it was very very tired about like living in hotels and yeah constantly traveling checking in and staying two nights checking out packing up unpacking moving around suitcases that kind of thing so yeah all happened at the right time and I think we needed it more than we realized having a base or you know things like having a wardrobe being able to cook our own meals having our own bed and not having to carry everything we own with us to every place we go being able to leave it small bag but it's like weekend trips like this one it's just made a hole water because it was a whole year that we were on the road a year living in a suitcase for a year hotel traveling Constantine for one whole year yes so obviously incredibly fun we saw so much we did so much and we still do but it's so nice having a place we can come back to very good questions thank you Hiro Kai for that question how do you guys budget your travel or your trips can you give details about your budgeting and how much you spend and it just says can you give details about yeah I guess you guys want to know the problem is we don't we said when we first went away our first trip we had a spreadsheet and we were like let's put down every meal we have every hotel we stay at every train work every bus everything we did it for a week we got kind of pissed at having food constantly every meal we have like write down and remember because it took up quite a lot of the day when we were just daily vlogging and editing and it was kind of a pain so we stopped now this year said let's actually maybe start looking again but just a bit more broadly just because it would be interesting to know because we do get questions like this a lot so yeah we might try and start tracking it a little bit more basically at the start of our travelling and trips and stuff as we said it was like we have a set amount of money and once that's gone we're done yeah that was kind of a whole thing we didn't know if YouTube would kick off we didn't know if we could turn us into yeah a job and income but not really any much yeah but now we are and we have done that so it's kind of like okay we we make your money and we're spending money so it's yeah would be interesting so I'm there are really good guides if you'd need to know like how much you can spend in this place for a week they're really good guides online just google it but it's hard for us to give you guys that information but we often try and say like this air B&B cuz this or this breakfast but so we can bring more of that into the vlogs if you guys were to find that useful but also like when we first went away the way we've kind of track it would be what's the cheapest option to stay somewhere what's the cheapest meal we can have what's the cheapest transport so I guess to begin with me where to spending the minute now we all love fish with money at all I'd say we still have like a certain amount of money we'd spend on the meal i certain amount of money we're spending on this and that but like George said it's not a set amount we spend but we know if something's a bit too expensive or de jure let's go somewhere else we're mindful of what we're spending and we always always always try and find the best deals because hotels flights food like everything you can always get a better deal well we say the other day in Mobile with my cannelli we found it on one website for like 50 pounds and I and then another website was 25 pounds that on the same place they shop around the iris shop around we're always gonna want to say to me shop around shop around buy that song shop around so this question starts with a compliment thank you very much I'm a fan you guys influenced me a lot my question is do you have any plans to stay here for good in the Philippines or are you leaving well a lot of people say to us like are you saying they're for good like is this permanent and you're gonna stay there forever quite honestly we have no idea what's gonna happen in the future the foreseeable future yes definitely we love it here we're so happy here who knows who knows like in 20 years I don't know where we'll be I don't know what we'll be doing but it's why I didn't know I'd be living in Philippines if you told me this - yeah I like a change so much yeah even like grown-up teenager I never thought I'd like to live abroad or travel around yeah it's crazy for us that we've been doing this but yes definitely we want to stay in the Philippines we're not no plans of leaving whatsoever for the foreseeable zero plans of leaving we want to stay here when I'm travel more we've got so much to see we want to make videos we love meeting you guys who watch the videos yeah no plans of leaving at all definitely staying here for the foreseeable but if you asked us like plan out the next 50 years of your life impossible we could not do that so keep keep watching guys you never know what's gonna happen on this channel also as you guys know we love to travel so we're still gonna travel other countries and explore other places but we love love love having the base in Manila coming back here all constantly coming back to the Philippines and yeah we just love you guys no you watch the video see we love spending time in gonna do two more questions because we're physically melting yeah no seriously I think I just want to ask what do you guys think about the current events that happened and are happening happening around the globe especially here in the Philippines how are you guys coping up PS wear your masks stay safe so I'm guessing that's like the recent our volcano eruption coronavirus and things like that happened 20 funny just the end of January we personally haven't really been affected by anything on a big scale yet thanks I'm very grateful for a lot of people messaged us with the whenever there's a volcano eruption and earthquake typhoon in the Philippines saying are you gonna leave now has it put you off are you gonna go back to your country because obviously this kind of stuff doesn't really happen to this scale I'm in the UK and but it's not enough we wouldn't get like put off by that it's a natural disaster no one can help it yeah and we've said in this video video before about Filipino resilience and how events that happen it all depends on how the people cope with it not on what's actually happened yeah exactly it makes us just want it it makes us love the country even more does how people deal with these things it makes us proud to be here because you see the way that people deal with it the photo all the things you see after an event like towel people the smiling kids like the way everyone helped the donations from the other cities the help that went down there the way that people are rebuilding their lives saving the animals yeah it's incredible that people just instantly switch it on and just go for it and just try and help all the people around them in situations like that that that's amazing to see okay guys final question before we melt was there a time in your life that you wanted to quit vlogging because you're both tired of doing it for me no absolutely not love logging love making videos however there are days when I feel like filming more than other days sometimes if you're on a school trip I'm like yes let's blog let's start the vlog early let's make three videos in one day let's film this film at other days I'm like ah daily vlog for two weeks feel like you're not filming today I want to pick so love logging it's insanely fun everything around blogging they're editing reading comments replying to all that kind thing absolutely love it never wanted to properly quit vlogging it's like a dream it's a dream job for me in the camera um yeah I agree totally agree I'd say that I've never wanted to quit over a roll but there's been days where I've gone uh not today try again tomorrow and that's totally normal that's same with anything in life really you can't always be like ready to go there's often pressure on people like grind grind grind work work work don't ever stop don't sleep guys sleep super important we get seven eight nine hours a night yes I'm much more when we need to catch up as much as you love something as much as it's your passion you still need threat you're human you still need a break from stuff that you love like a musician doesn't talk from like January to December playing every night the outbreaks like people who surf have breaks people who paint don't paint every day it's I don't know whatever your passion is it don't feel guilty if you're not doing it every single day and sometimes you take a step back and go back to it you can actually improve what you're doing anyway yeah with that said it's another balance thing so you need if you want something bad enough you have to work hard enough for it and you don't get anywhere without a hot humid weather as well but just got a it's all about balance it's all about balance that is balance okay guys the final question we're not actually going
