Former President Joe Biden was encouraged by his senior advisors to debate Donald Trump
earlier in the 2024 election, Politico reported on Monday, citing a memo.
The memo is dated April 15, 2024, and not signed.
Every reference to the former president is written in all caps and bold.
The former president's advisors urged him to debate Trump before summer instead of doing
it on the autumn dates proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Debating Trump early would help Biden to reach the widest audience possible, they argued.
Before we are deep in the summer months with the conventions,
Olympics and family vacations taking precedence.
In addition, the earlier you are able to debate the better so that the American people can see
you standing next to Trump and showing the strength of your leadership
compared to Trump's weakness and chaos, reads the memo.
Biden obviously took the suggestion and agreed to attend the June 27,
2024 presidential debate with Trump hosted by CNN.
However, the debate didn't go as well as expected.
Biden melted down with faculties.
It finally caused him to drop out of the race and be replaced by his vice president Kamala Harris.
Harris lost the 2024 race with the Republican Party taking control of both the Senate and House.
