Hey guys, Monika here.
In this video I'm teaching you 3 movements you can do solo at a wedding.
And remember, if you would like to build permanent dance skills plus the confidence to be able
to dance in social settings, you can join hundreds of my students who are already learning
in my online program.
I will share more information at the end of this video, so stay tuned.
The first movement we're going to do is something in place, nice and easy.
We're going to start with feet slightly apart.
You're going to bend one knee twice.
The other leg has to stay straight so that our hip can automatically go up.
So you're going to go, bend, straighten, bend again and then switch.
Other leg, bend, straighten, bend.
What it creates is that little shift where I don't have to think about my hip, but it
does go up automatically because one leg is straight and one knee is bent.
Let's try that again.
We have bend and bend, switch, bend and bend.
Repeat it a few times.
Get used to the hip shifting.
And this is pretty much all you need to do.
As far as the arms, you can keep them loosely by your sides or once you get comfortable
with this movement, you can bring them slightly higher, slowly up and down.
I did the tutorial on the arms, so I'm going to link it below.
You have a lot of options there.
Let's try a little bit quicker.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, again 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
So this movement is perfect for if you don't want to stand out, you just want to blend
in with others on the dance floor and you don't want to travel a lot.
Next movement, that one is a traveling one.
We're going to use a very popular step, which is two step, but we'll make some changes
to it so it's not too boring.
You're going to travel in one direction with four steps.
So we'll do two two steps to the side, to the side, and then come back.
Open, close, open, close.
This move, we're going to need to add a little bit of upper body so it doesn't look very
stiff.
I want you to twist the body, starting with the torso, towards the foot you're stepping
with.
So in the direction that you're opening the feet, okay?
So go twist, reset to the middle, do it again, same move, twist, middle, another way, twist,
middle, twist, middle, repeat that again, open, close, open, close, open, close, open
with the count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, again, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
With this movement, it's very important that you're keeping the torso loose, I don't want
you to make it rigid, so I don't want to see that.
Keep the knees slightly bent the entire time, and everything up here is nice and relaxed.
So it's more so like a little swaying movement, you're just grooving to the music.
For this last movement, we're going to step in place first, so I want you to take a step
on one foot, shift the weight onto that leg, and then the other foot is just going to tap
the floor.
So it's going to be step, tap, and then you switch it.
Step, tap, do it a few times, get used to shifting of the weight, and then we'll add
something with the hips so it's more interesting.
Step, tap, step, tap.
We're going to add the hip motion, so the foot that's touching the floor, you're going
to raise the same hip, and how you do it is you're going to use the push motion.
So pretend that it's the toes that are pushing your hip up, you're kind of pressing down
to the floor.
Warning, I don't want you to do it very far, because it's not going to, don't make it big,
it's going to look ridiculous.
One inch, that's all we need, ok?
Just a small little accent with the hips.
So it's a step, hip up, step, hip up, and you just keep switching.
5, 6, 7, 8, knee first, 1, 2, 1, 2.
Push it forward twice on each side, arms are loose.
5, 6, switch to the next move, open, close, open, close.
Don't forget the upper body starting the twist, and then the entire body is facing the corner.
You're reset in between.
Good, let's try one last step, our step, tap.
Start with just the feet, just so you can get the rhythm.
And then pay attention to the foot that's doing the tapping motion, same hip goes up.
Let's do it.
With this move the good thing is you can take it around, you can travel with it as well.
So in case there's a lot of space on the dance floor, let's see if we can move around with
the same exact move.
Go forward, back, let's go to the side, go around, don't lose the step, tap motion.
See?
It's a perfect move if you're dancing with someone as well.
You can just switch directions.
