Welcome to Zurich, Switzerland. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world but also one of
the most expensive. But today I'm going to show you how to have an amazing time here in Zurich
without spending too much money. We love Switzerland and we always make sure to include this
beautiful country in our Europe road trip. But as you probably know Switzerland is pricey, really
Skydiving 400, train ride is 250 dollars per person. No! But don't worry, if you are like us you can totally
visit Switzerland on a budget. We made it through Interlaken with just 100 euros, soaked in the
stunning views of the Matterhorn for free and did some epic hikes without spending a cent. And today
we are pushing ourselves even further, enjoying a day in the most expensive city in Switzerland,
yes, Zurich. Our first step was finding a place to park the car. It wasn't easy but we found a spot
at the train station for a good price. We have a parking and that's something to be happy about.
Since it was a bit outside the city, our next step was to find a cheap way to get to the city center.
Yes, 20 minutes. 20 minutes for four Swiss francs. How much is it in euros?
Wait, it never translates. Just think it's good. Start right. Transaction failed, maybe later.
We were super excited to hop on the bike and the step, but getting them activated, that was another
story. Luckily it all worked out in the end. So after 20 minutes we figured it out. So you have
to scan now. It started. Let's go. I am going. Already. See how pretty that is. The bicycle lanes are
not as impressive as how it is in the Netherlands. It's not really clear. So you can just try to go
wherever you want, unless there is a sign that you cannot ride bicycles, I think. Maria is riding a
bicycle next to this beautiful lake. Look at the water. Look at the color of the water. So Mira is
behind me on her step. I think bicycle is so much more comfortable than the step. Mira, are you
already missing the Netherlands bicycle path? No. And biking or standing is a really fun way to
explore the lake around Zurich. Just don't ride it for too long or your wallet might not be so happy.
So soon we had to say bye bye bikes. We found something on the budget here in Zurich. You can just sit.
For free. But this is perfect if you want to do a cheap picnic. So let's go. Apparently we are heading
to the cheapest bakery in the city, which to be honest, I don't quite believe it. She has a little
plan, right Mira? You have a little master plan of how to make it cheap. Adi doesn't trust this. He says
no, this cannot be nice. This cannot be nice. I will tell you a bit more when we are there, but I
have a good feeling about this. Are you talking about Starbucks? That is a backup.
Look at this beautiful place. This is under a train station in Zurich.
How cool is that? And yes, we made it. This is it, the S-Bar. Not sure if I pronounced that right.
Yeah, that one.
All this for just seven euros and it's a lot.
Let's do it again, this is bad.
So Mira, what have we got? S-Bar. I will explain you how we got this for so cheap.
As you can see on the package, there is Frisch von Gersten. Gersten, it's German. That means they
pick up bakery goodies from all over town, which bakeries normally will throw because it's the end
of the day, but they will sell it the next day. But why would they throw it? Because it's not good
for the next day? No, that's what we're going to test now. Adi really, like that cannot be good.
What if it gets sick, Mira? It was really cheap. So I also looked at some other bakeries, like what
do you normally pay for something? And for some sweet stuff, you already pay like almost five
Swiss franc. Yeah, it's almost double, right? Four times, but this is just altogether seven.
It's really cheap. If it's nice, then it's... What if my whole teeth comes out because it's so hard?
Yeah, I do see it and it's like the next day. The quality is really nice. The taste is still
perfect. It's just a structure, but it's of course like, yeah. Yeah, it has become a bit moist. A bit dry, moist.
Let's enjoy our lunch in the most expensive city of the world. So we have the star of the day.
Grand desserts. She just put it down when we were just about to choose. It's not strawberries,
it's raspberries. Oh, even more expensive.
This is why I love Switzerland. It's just so smart and efficient. And
look at this, you can just pump your air off the bicycle in the middle of the town.
Next, we visited the Grossmunster church. It has two tall towers that stand out in Zurich skyline.
Built in the 12th century, it's unique and the best part, you can enter for free.
We are now in Zurich old town or Altstadt and as you can see, it's just so pretty.
You know, what do you have for free here? This blue and clean water. It's so beautiful that all the
cities in Switzerland, they have this amazing blue clean water. I can literally see the fishes
and the floor. That's not really... Have you seen a floor in Amsterdam, Mira?
Luckily not. We only see bicycles in Amsterdam.
Apparently, Mira wants to eat here now. Yeah, let's skip the budget video, Ari.
Let's go for the how to have an expensive fancy city day trip in Zurich.
Nope, we are definitely not going there. Instead,
we are heading to the most beautiful viewpoint in Zurich.
And if you're on this fancy day trip to Zurich and you're coming with your dog,
then there is even ice cream for your dog. The dog boutique.
Now Ari wants to taste it. What if it's really nice? No, I'm not going to spend money on dog
ice cream. Even the dog ice cream is expensive. Luckily. Otherwise, I might have actually tried it.
So we are going on a little hike now.
We were just saying it's so quiet here. There's almost no tourists now. Welcome to the tourist
area. Look at that. But there is a reason why they are here, because this is first of all for free,
but it's also a really cool viewpoint because from there is what I think you can see the whole
old town of Zurich. I'm saying Zurich all the time. It's Zurich. Zurich. Yeah,
it's super English. Like German would be Zurich. This video is in English, right? But it's
Switzerland. So I think you should pronounce it the Swiss way, but I'm not sure if that's even
the Swiss way. Zurich. It's just a Dutch way and Dutch people think that their way is the whole.
Oh yeah, that's true. A little bit less Dutch already. So then it's German. Let's go check
the viewpoint in Zurich. They're all sitting there super casually, right? So I think there's like
some safety. Nothing, just. So we have some brave people there sitting with this.
Such a crazy drop. You also want to sit Mira for the gram? No. So you know what else is for here?
Tastes like Switzerland? It's a bit warm. No, not warm. It's not tropical, but it's really,
it's like mineral water. Yeah, but you would get from a bottle. There's also one more thing
really cool about traveling to Switzerland is that there are always chairs or just places to
sit. We are not sitting on the edge of the world like that, like that place there, but there's
always places to sit. And of course you see the tourists from all age groups. And that reminds me
of something. We were in Venice. I think we were in peak season. No place to sit, like zero places
to sit in the city. There was no chairs. There was not even place like this. And even if it was there,
I think you were not allowed to sit. So Mira also has to go to toilet and we're looking for
a free toilet. We were looking for a free toilet and then I thought I think I smell one.
No, it's just there. They say some people say in the reviews it's free. Some people say it's not.
So we have actually been in a free toilet in Switzerland. Until now we always had free toilets.
The facilities are always so amazing. Yeah. Like I showed you before the pump for the bicycle,
but we also saw once a whole bicycle repair set. Like really big, really proper tools. Just
on a middle of a MTB trail. Yeah, it's really cool. For free. Let's see who's going to the free toilet.
From the old town, now we move to the fanciest street in Zurich.
So you're trying to sneak in, in a really fancy car show. What are you doing Mira? You're on a
budget video. I think it's with your fingerprints. Oh no. Even the touching costs money. I think we
have to break all our budget because Mira decided to buy a bloody car. I just like the logo a lot.
But I do think you have Tesla's now also coming with a really cheap one. I have to do a bit more
competitive with the prices. Let's hope so. But yeah, we are in the city center of Zurich and
there are a lot of people, but it is really quiet surprisingly.
There goes our budget. Mira wants some Swiss chocolates.
100 grams 17. That is like four chocolates. Where are we going? We're going to find some dinner.
For dinner, we headed to one of our favorite spots in Switzerland. Coke. It may not be as
fancy as a traditional restaurant, but the food is delicious. Just picture it as one big buffet.
So exciting. Always to walk in foreign supermarkets. I'm getting some protein.
We've been here, right? That looks like Bermuda triangle. Yeah. Oh there.
So Mira has her grocery bag. So there's rain coming, so Mira is hiding under this tree.
This tree thinks it's already autumn or so. I don't know. We got some pasta and tomato salad
all the way from Italy. We got some couscous all the way from Spain. And we got some...
Couscous is from Spain? No, Morocco. And salmon from Norway. 10 euros, 10 Swiss franc I should
say correctly. We just discovered, we thought that 10 Swiss franc is 10 euros, but it's not.
It's more euros. Yeah. Like 12 euros or so. I think we chose the wrong tree. I think it's so cozy.
To go under. It's all getting wet. That is like nature. Yeah. If you had a restaurant on this
spot, you would be going crazy. Now we can just have also delicious food. It's a beautiful view
with some 3D rain effect. That cozy dinner wraps up our butter-friendly trip to Zurich.
But don't worry, there are plenty more adventures coming from Switzerland. If you haven't already,
make sure to subscribe and we'll see you in the next one.
