I was hunting.
But I gave up.
Hey y'all, I'm Ann.
And I'm Matt.
We've got a story.
And it's a good one.
Where do you want to start, Matt?
Where to start? That's always like the interesting thing.
So for me and my life, I'm going to start back in like late 2023, early 2024.
Okay.
And then where are you going to start out time-wise?
I'm going to start around like the beginning of 2024 because that's when it really just started hitting me.
Okay.
Around that time.
So let's go ahead and get your perspective, just a little bit.
I grew up on a farm and I was just like a farm girl and everything, just trying to do the will of God.
And there is like no guys anywhere for me to marry.
And I'm getting older right now.
I'm 19, but I was 18 then.
And I just felt like, wow, I'm just an old maid, just living on a farm, milking a cow out in the middle of nowhere.
Who's going to find me?
So with me, I was, as I would tell my buddies, I was wife hunting.
It was always a pursuit, nothing like crazy.
But anytime I would go to an event or something, I was always looking.
You know, I was always up for it to have a conversation with the girl.
Um, I would approach girls in not a creepy way, just as a, I just want to be nice to people type of way.
I traveled up to Tennessee.
I traveled to North Carolina and it was, nope.
You didn't travel to the Midwest.
No, it was nope, nope, nope.
And nobody, nope.
Uh, just nobody that met a lot of girls, but just none of them that were really in my criteria.
I had standards, not like they were bad girls or anything.
They just didn't fit my genre, you know?
And I think that was the way it was for me too.
Like there was, there was guys.
Physical guys.
There was physical guys.
There was men.
Most of the time they were either gone to college and I wasn't going to college.
You know, I thought about it.
They were gone to college.
You know, they moved on.
They found a different girl or they just like, yeah, they didn't meet my criteria or my standards that I had set for myself
or who I was looking for in a husband.
So I started searching and just praying to God about it.
I went to, like I was saying, I went to a lot of events.
I had, I spoke to a lot of women, talked to them.
Uh, I spoke to a couple fathers of these girls.
It just kept feeling like God was saying nope.
And that's the way it was for me too because, I mean, I obviously couldn't do what he did because he was out there looking.
You know, I was just in my place, you know, as a woman just being at home.
You know, I had a part-time job then working at a grocery store, you know, just looking around, you know, just watching.
You know, see if there was one that, you know, magically appeared and there didn't.
And, but I couldn't like go and like look for him.
Like, and so that kind of made me angry too because I was like, you know, why aren't you?
I would be like to my like future husband.
I had no idea who he was.
I'm like, why aren't you coming to me?
Isn't that how it's supposed to work?
You know, but you had no idea that I was thinking all that.
So, uh, you know, very frustrating for me because I couldn't do anything.
I mean, I was, I could go to like church events and everything like that, but I couldn't like openly just walk up to a guy.
Like I didn't feel that was my place, you know.
And, and it's not seen a lot where a guy approaches a girl nowadays.
Like they just don't do it.
And I don't know, I guess I've told you like this before.
Like, I don't know what I would have thought of you if you would have approached me.
I don't know that.
We've, we've, we've talked a lot about that.
It's like, well, if I was at it, like Anne would be like, well, if I was at one of these places that you went and visited, you know, what would you have done if I was there?
You know?
And I've told her like exactly what I would have done.
I'm like, I would have definitely noticed you because you're just not like normal girls.
Like certain girls are just like immature.
Certain girls are very mature.
It just depends, but she's just kind of a little bit more of an outlier.
And I was a wallflower.
I was definitely a wallflower.
I did not like to be in front of anything.
Not really like to be, I mean, I would be noticed, but I wasn't like, you know, hey, look at me.
You know, I'm here, you know, type of person.
Not the center of attraction.
No, I wasn't the center of attraction.
And also my height too would kind of throw me off.
I'm really tall.
And like, I would kind of stand out in that way, but I didn't want to stand out in that way.
You know, so I was like, you know, it would be like impossible.
Like, I'm like, no guy is going to want me.
Like, I'm just a normal girl.
I'm not like the other girls, but I'm just a normal girl.
So I just would be like to God, I'd be like crying out to God.
I'm like, where is he?
Where is he?
Why haven't you brought him to me?
You know, I'm trying to, you know, I'm trying to obey your word and I'm trying to do what's right, you know.
And I feel like my hands are tied.
That's what I really felt like.
My hands are tied.
I can't do anything.
I'm not doing anything right now.
And I was just trying to work on surrendering everything to God because I was always like looking.
I never really, I like stopped looking, but not quite fully until the summer of 2024.
I was counseling at a camp and I was teaching the girls on surrender.
Like, surrender is not like just like one time thing.
It's like an everyday, you know, surrendering, being a sacrifice.
I'm like, you know what?
I really haven't surrendered this to God at all.
Like, I'm still doing my part.
So I'm just like, God, you can have it all.
I'm giving up.
I'm done.
And that's, that's what happened on, it was around like June 20th, which is very strange.
Yeah.
I think what the Lord was trying to teach me in that time, because I'm the like commander type.
I'm the go get it done.
Go get it.
Okay.
I got it.
I achieved it.
Awesome.
Keep going.
Keep moving.
Try to fix the world's problems.
You know, that's just me.
I was like, I am on this mission to find a wife.
I wasn't naive thinking that it was like easy or anything, you know?
And then I was just like, absolutely just like every day for like the whole eight hours of the day
or 10 hours of the day when, while I was working, just listening to podcasts about relationships
and all that stuff because you're preparing.
Yeah.
I was preparing myself because I was like, I know that I want to be the person that I would want to marry.
So if I want to marry a girl or a woman or a lady, if I want to marry a lady that it looks good, I need to look good.
If I want to marry a lady, because there is a difference between a lady and a woman.
If I want to marry a lady that has good self-control, I need to have good self-control.
If I want to marry a lady that is happy, I got to be happy, you know?
So these little things, it always starts with yourself.
You never can change anybody else, but you can always start on yourself.
So that's what I started doing.
Also watching a lot of videos on just being confident.
Not cocky, but just confident because most girls aren't going to really approach you
and then you don't want to approach them, you know?
So then it's like nobody wins. Nobody wins.
So it's just be confident. You're not going up to them to get in a relationship or anything.
You're just going up to them, think about them that they're just a person.
You're just going up to them to say hi, be friendly.
Not necessarily too much small talk.
See if you can get into some in-depth things.
Kind of read the waters and then go from there.
Which is kind of hard nowadays because one thing that I really was looking for in a husband was that he was a deep thinker.
And that's just not seen nowadays.
A lot of people don't talk about spiritual things or don't think about spiritual things.
Everybody has a very short attention span.
They don't cause you to think too.
That's what I wanted, him to challenge me to think a little bit about this.
And I wasn't finding it in a lot of guys.
A lot of guys just want to have fun, go to college, stuff like that.
It's just rare, I guess.
For anybody that's new and I know it's already been a couple minutes into the video.
I'm 20 now and my wife is 19.
Which she's already said that.
Back when we're talking about this, I was 18 at the time and you were 17 at the time.
No, I'm 18.
I was saying in 2023.
Oh, 2023, yeah.
I've been thinking for the last two years.
I kept thinking about this in my head.
We both were thinking about it.
Yeah, I got to write this down.
I got to write this down.
And I was thinking about, I need to surrender this.
It just kept coming up.
It was just this little voice in the back of my head.
Hey, dum-dum, just ask for it.
Not just pray for it, write it down.
When do you want to get married?
So I finally, I finally, and it was in June?
Yeah, it was June 20th.
June 20th.
I wrote it down, 2024.
I wrote it down on a piece of paper.
I was writing my other goals, really believe in goals setting and everything like that.
So I wrote it at the bottom.
Us boys were doing our goals, right?
And we were all done for the night writing down goals and I just slipped it in there.
I want to be married before the spring of 2025.
Crazy, like super wild.
And then like one of the times when my mom came into my house, she looked at our goals because it's pinned up.
It needs to be pinned up where you can see it every day.
Even if you don't fully read down the list every day, it's just there.
And she was doing something and dropping something off here.
And she saw that.
Probably laundry.
Yeah, probably laundry.
And she was like, wow, that's crazy.
He wants to do that.
You know?
Anyway, because I guess for the most time, I wasn't like you too.
It was like I wasn't fully surrendering it to the Lord.
And anyway.
Which is very hard to do because you just want it and you want it now.
And this is how it's going to be.
And it feels like there's this ticking time bomb inside of you because you're not getting any younger.
And it's like I just and then it really is terrible when your parents were married young.
Oh, you know, because then they're like, oh, it's not, you know, you'll be fine, honey.
You know, you're not an old maid at all.
I don't know what you're talking about.
Y'all got married when you were like 14, you know, or whatever.
You know, it's always ridiculous.
Like, oh, you're perfectly fine.
And you're like, really?
You know, so it just so it just like, ah, it'll just irritate you.
And then so anyway, so long story short, I mean, we just.
You wrote it down.
I wrote it down.
And I surrendered it.
And it was like in the same week.
Pretty much within literally the same week of it.
Yeah.
And that's when I really kind of started.
So Matt, Matt was on the YouTube channel.
Yeah.
And that summer is when I really just started being obsessed with watching their YouTube channel.
Most particularly Matt.
But I wouldn't say that necessarily to anybody.
You know, and I just kept watching him.
I was even watching them at camp, like when we have rest times or whatever.
Being like, man, he's like so nice.
Like, look at all like these characteristics that he has that I would want in a husband.
But like, it was impossible because I was in the Midwest and you were in the South.
Like, it seemed like worlds apart.
Like, literally, I never really been out of the state that I grew up in.
Nothing.
And there was no way that we were really going to meet.
Literally, there was no way.
Like, it felt like it was impossible.
And I guess the whole dynamic too, which is funny, and I'm not going to just dispelling this little thing,
is that it's like literally without technology, we would not be married today.
Yeah.
We would literally not be married today.
Like people are like, oh yeah, we met on like a dating app or like at church or something like that.
Ours is totally unique.
Yeah, it's pretty wild.
I don't know.
I guess I was stalking him.
Since we were young and married and everything, people ask you all the time like, oh, so how did you meet?
And you're like, how do we tell that?
How do I say this?
I guess on the internet, I guess.
I guess on the internet.
But you didn't know me.
Yeah, exactly.
I was watching him.
She knew me for a couple years.
Yeah, he had no idea about me.
But I was just like, you know, I just, my mom was like watching them because our families are pretty similar in their values.
And I just saw him one time, you know, but it was really that summer where I just got obsessed with like watching him.
So.
Oh dear, the super stalker.
Yeah, I guess I was stalking kind of.
And yeah, I just like watched you all the time.
I'd be like, you know what?
It's impossible.
I know nothing about him.
I don't know who he is, you know, and it's just not going to happen.
But was it just a coincidence?
That's what we're going to be talking about in our next video.
So stay tuned.
I know, but it's going to be awesome.
And these videos are only going to get even more awesome because this story is.
It's going to blow your mind.
And it's going to.
It's awesome because it's all God.
It's like none of us.
All we had to do was sit back and say yes.
Like literally.
Yeah.

We've been recording for a while.
Cut.
He has to get on the bed.
Yeah.
Don't.
I don't want to be too close to you but not too far.
What are you trying to say?
I'll say.
I was hunting.
And you say that I gave up.
And then we'll do like a little.
Just keep your.
It's hard to keep it up.
I know.
You just got to kind of think about it like here.
Just.
