Hey, it's Shay here again and today we
need to talk about one very bad fever
that is sweeping through the world,
especially in Canada and United States.
It's called house fever. You know what
I'm talking about, right? That intense
desire to own a home no matter what.
That condition that makes people forget
to do the math. House fever makes you
rush to buy your dream home without
thinking things through. And trust me,
I've seen it. People dive in head first
and they end up with what I call home
buyers remorse. Here are some of the
classic symptoms. First, you find a
house. Oh, it looks perfect, right? The
kitchen is amazing. The backyard is
huge. And you're already imagining the
housewarming party. But then the reality
check comes. The mortgage payments start
hitting hard. The property taxes, ouch.
Not to mention the repairs you did not
budget
for. You start thinking, "Wait, did I
really think this through?" Next thing
you know, you're looking at your bank
account like, "Oh no, what have I done?"
Here are a few more signs of house
fever. getting emotionally attached to a
house before even checking if you can
afford it. Ignoring red flags in the
inspection report because you just want
the house so badly and of course
stretching your budget beyond what you
know you can realistically pay. House
fever is serious and it can leave you
with years of regrets. But don't worry,
there's a cure. It's called planning.
Yeah, taking the time to do the math.
Budgeting for the real cost, not just
the mortgage, but taxes, repairs, and
unexpected expenses, too. Buying a home
should be exciting, but it should also
be smart. The goal is to buy a house you
love, not one that is going to make you
broke. So, if you feel that house fever
is creeping in on you, pause, take a
deep breath, do the math, and make sure
you're not setting yourself up for home
buyers remorse. Trust me, your future
self will thank you. If you or someone
you know is showing signs of house
fever, get them the help they need.
Financial advice and careful planning.
