Welcome to my channel and to my home! In today’s video, I’m tackling my small guest bathroom and giving it a complete refresh, both in function and style. From smart storage ideas and solutions to thoughtful decorating touches that make guests feel right at home, I’m walking you through every detail of this cozy little transformation.
Hey there! Welcome to my channel and to my home for another decorating video. Today we are in
my downstairs guest bathroom which also serves as my powder room in my home. As you can see,
it's pretty barren here and with the fall and holiday seasons fast approaching, I want to
ready this space. I want to decorate it. I want to get it organized so that it better serves my
guests and my company that will arrive during the holidays, during the seasons that we have coming
up. Of course, I don't decorate a space in my home without sharing it here with you so I hope
you enjoy this video. Let's get to decorating! I'm going to start with the small vanity that
I have in here today. I like to keep this space simple and functional for guests but I still want
it to be pretty. I am adding a hand lotion and hand soap dispenser. This one came with a nice
bamboo tray to go underneath. These are glass. You can put any soap or lotion that you want to in
here. You can change it with the seasons and I think something like this elevates the space a
bit more than just those disposable hand soaps that we buy. Of course, you can't forget the
tissues. I always like to use a tissue box cover where I can. I also think adding a bit of greenery
in the bathroom is always a nice touch even if it's faux like this slim olive tree from Amazon.
It fits perfectly in this corner and I think it adds just the right amount of life to this space
especially since the walls in here are white. It needs some warmth and this olive tree brings that
right here to this corner. Next, I'm focusing on the small amount of cabinet and drawer space I
have in here. I want to make the most of it by keeping just the right essentials that my guests
may need except this. This is my Pura back stock and this is just the best place for me to keep it.
I'm using this super functional sliding under the sink organizer to store extra hand towels and a
size essentials guests might need from time to time like extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss,
disposable razors, some hair care items, and a variety of travel wipes. Just a small selection
of things that people may not be traveling with or perhaps they didn't think about and in this
space I think it's nice if people come to use the facilities and they think maybe I need a toothpick
or maybe I need an Advil. I have a headache or something. They can open this drawer and hopefully
they will find what they're looking for and what they need. When it comes to stocking the guest
bathroom or shower with products, often we think we need to give our guests a bunch of options and
it can be really easy to overstock I think in a lot of ways. When we do that, even with good
intention, it just seems cluttered. So what I like to do is stock the guest bathroom with the
essentials and with products that I actually use personally. So today I'm stocking this shower with
the body wash that I actually use. It is from Philosophy and I'm also stocking it with the same
body bar soap that I use when I use a bar soap and then the same shampoo and conditioner that
I personally use which if you've been following me here at all then you know I use Kitsch shampoo
and conditioner bars. I personally use their purple toning bars. Not everyone has bleach blonde hair
so I like to stock my guest bathroom with their rice water protein bars. I really like the rosemary
as well but today I am putting the rice water protein shampoo and conditioner bar in here. The
rice water protein bars are strengthening shampoo and conditioning bars so they're great for all
hair types so this is perfect for something like the guest bath. Helps in the regeneration of hair,
it helps aid hair growth. I'm also using the Kitsch self-draining soap dish to organize the
shampoo bars and the bar soap that I'm putting in here because I just think this is such a nice
sleek product. I have this in my own shower it doesn't over clutter the space and I just think
it's going to look very simple and clean in here. Plus I love that it is labeled so you have a spot
for the shampoo bar the conditioner bar and your bar soap so your guests won't get confused. Of
course the Kitsch shampoo and conditioner bars are shaped in the letter S for shampoo and C
for conditioner so it does make it a little bit easier. Another reason I like to use the shampoo
and conditioner bars here in my bathroom is because if my guests really like them which
anyone that's used them here has always said they love them, I offer to let them take them home. I
always keep a couple of the Kitsch bar bags on hand so they can just put them right in there
and take them with them. I always think it's really nice and hospitable as a host if you have
products your guests love and they enjoy using to offer to send it with them send it home with
them. I always appreciate having Kitsch as a partner here on my channel because I genuinely
love these products and I love that I get to share something that has really helped me improve
my overall hair health with you. Each bar is under $11 with my discount or $21 for the set so it is
a great deal. These bars will last you so long. On the top here it says one bar equals 100 washes.
I'm going to put a QR code here on the screen and I'll also put a link in the description box below.
A few things to know before shopping with Kitsch they do ship to the U.S. and internationally to
over 90 different countries worldwide and they also have a subscription that you can order which
would be an even bigger discount so definitely check them out give them a try you will not be sorry.
Since I don't have much countertop or storage space in here I'm bringing in this small table
that I've had for a while. It's actually a bar cart that I bought from Wayfair years ago and
I've been using it in my office but I think it's going to be perfect for this spot. I didn't want
to overcrowd the vanity with a lamp or candle but I really think adding those touches to a small
bathroom like this adds to the overall aesthetic makes it feel more at home and warm.
I also love that this cart has a bottom shelf because I plan to use that shelf to house a
basket that's going to hold all of my bath towels for this space. I also have to tell you about the
rugs that I'm adding in here because these are the same type of rugs that I have in my bathroom
upstairs they're just a different pattern you've seen them if you've watched my other bathroom
videos but I love these because they double as bath mats. The back is more like a bath mat they
are super lightweight easy to wash and they are so incredibly soft plus I love that the top looks
more like a rug than a bath mat and you can get them in different sizes. These definitely look
more elevated in a space than a traditional bath mat. These hooks that I'm adding to the shower
right now they are from Amazon they come in a set of three. I think they are so functional they are
specifically made for glass shower doors you can move them around as you need and they have a
padded back so they won't scratch the glass. I think that is great. They're also extra long which
is perfect if you have taller shower doors like I do. I'm hanging two on the outside for towels and
one on the inside for things like a loofah or a washcloth. I also added a robe in this bathroom
so my guests will have everything they need if they have to shower here. Okay so day two of
decorating. I did not think it was going to take more than one day to do this space but you know
what it is. I finished pretty late last night and I knew I wanted to hang this piece of art in here.
I got this at Hobby Lobby. It was $80 and I know that's a lot for an art print from Hobby Lobby
and I did break the cardinal rule. I did not buy it on sale but I loved it so much that I had to
have it and they only had one so I bought this a while back. I didn't know where I was gonna put it
at all. I love when small spaces like powder rooms or bathrooms have a statement moment or a bit of
whimsy so I knew I wanted to hang this in here and then I got to thinking you know what it would
be really neat to make this whole wall right here a gallery wall and so I have a few other pieces
that I can hang in here that I've collected over the years. They are from places like Hobby Lobby,
Target, Kirkland's and I really like the pieces. I definitely don't have enough to do the the wall
in its entirety but I think over time curating and collecting pieces from different places will
be really fun. I plan to go thrifting and hopefully find some great pieces from local
antique stores or maybe thrift stores. I think the powder room is a great place to decorate
in a way that's a bit unexpected from the rest of the house. We always see those powder rooms
with great wallpapers or really beautiful colors on the walls and I'm not painting this space maybe
one day I will and I'm not wallpapering so I thought a gallery wall in here would be really
nice add a bit of whimsy a bit of fun and a little bit of a delight when people come in here and they
aren't expecting it and they see it so we're gonna do that today. We're gonna start with this one
right here. Okay here are some of the pieces that I have so far. These are the pieces we're
gonna start with and then over time I will build out the collection but I think this is a great
start. For the small prints I'm gonna start with this one because I think this would be so incredibly
cute right here. I think this is such a moment. It definitely completes this little space. I am
not a professional photo hanger. I do not do this right. I literally just eyeball it
and like mark it. That's probably where I want it to go. We'll see if it works.
So cute. I don't think it's too high. I would have hung it a little bit lower
but I want I don't want the gap between these two to be so big. Oops.
Okay I think this one would be perfect for here.
I love it. What is next? See I'm just eyeballing it. I'm just gonna eyeball it today. I'm being
honest. I'm just gonna eyeball it and put it put the pictures where I'm feeling them
but what you can do is take paper like long rolls of that brown just paper. I can't think
of what it would be called or even wrapping paper if you have it. Cut them to size and then use those
pieces with some painter's tape and put them up in an arrangement that you would like. Then you
would know where to hang each picture without making a bunch of holes in your wall. Because
this is going to evolve and we're going to add more in the future I'm just going to add what I
have today in spaces that I like it and if it moves around in the future that's okay too. That's
how we're doing it. So don't take this as a tutorial because this is not the best way to do
it but this is just what I'm feeling today and this is this is how we're doing it. So it's really
about whatever works best for you in your space. Maybe I was gonna put that there. I don't remember.
This one's kind of cool. That would even go there and look neat. I'm gonna need my ladder I think.
I think like that would be good. You can always change them out you know. This was also a Target
print. Target. Pretty positive. These were both from Target. I think that one was too but I don't
remember. I could probably look on the back. There we go. Well I kind of want to do this one because
it's so different than what else everything else we have up there so far but like here maybe. Had
these in the Airbnb before I sold it and I think they're so funny. Maybe I want to do the cow.
Like you guys cannot see that. Do we want the cow? I want to do the cow. Oh the cow over here is kind
of cute. This is so cute. Since we put the one cow up top I say we put his partner down here somewhere.
Probably like here. Maybe even lower. Actually kind of like it down here because we can fill this in
with something later. That's a stud. A little study stud muffin there and then like maybe something
I'll find something long or like too small would go here would be really cute. We'll see. We'll see.
Next I want to hang this butterfly. I think this is really pretty. I got this at Hobby Lobby but I
know I got this one on sale so let me see. Do we want it like up here? Something definitely needs
to go there but I feel like I want something gold so I'm gonna hold off. It's like a cow wall.
Oh that's kind of good. That kind of fits but I don't like the black and black. Not into it. Not
into it. We're gonna hang on to that guy. A few of my friends and I have an inside joke. I don't
know how the conversation got started but one day we were all talking about if you were an animal
what would you be and someone said I would be a llama and I don't know we just had such a good
laugh about it that it stuck. Now they buy me llama things so I have a llama planter in my office and
now I have this lovely llama portrait that I am going to put in here in the powder room. So we're
gonna give the llama a special place right here by the door so everyone sees it.
It's so cute. I love it. Since we have so many cows over there I'm gonna hang this longhorn right here.
hanging out with me today, for decorating with me. I appreciate you and I hope that you enjoyed
this video. I will see you again very soon in the next one. Until I do,
take care and of course happy decorating!
