Kosamoy, Thailand has postcard, beaches,
hammocks. It's essentially paradise. But
I didn't come for that. I came for the
food. I had only a few hours on the
island, so not enough time to see
everything, but just enough time to
taste what matters, such as bolt noodles
from a local food stall, a mind-blowing
Michelin meal, and some fresh as can be
seafood.
Right now I'm in the center of Kosamo.
It's a shame because the cruise leaves
at 6. So I have to be back at the port
probably around 5. There's night markets
all around the island, but I won't be
able to go any of them because there
won't be open yet like this one. This is
just merchandise right now. There's no
food. There is a restaurant I do want to
check out in this mall.
I wish I had more time. It's a little
harder to get around to go to the rural
parts because it's harder to call a
taxi. So, what I could have done if
there's more time was just rent a
scooter and just drive it everywhere.
All right, here it is. Capis tour.
So, this is a Michelin recommended
restaurant mainly focused on seafood.
Let's get some. There was actually a lot
of dishes I wanted here. Their most
famous dish is this salted egg yolk
squid. The other one that's really
famous is sour grouper curry. Then I got
a crab curry with with rice noodles.
Then roasted scallops. You know what? I
couldn't help but getting one more dish.
I love minced meat with basil here in
Thailand. The pad crab pow. And they
have that dish here made with wagu beef.
Got to have that, too. So, this is quite
a bit of food here. Let's try this
first. Roasted scallops with pepperc
corn. Look at that. That is fancy. And
that looks tasty. See the little pepperc
corn in here? See the little chilies? I
bet you this is going to be tentalizing.
It's good.
It's a lot of flavor though. I feel like
even that dish, you got to chase it with
some rice.
Oh, that is super peppercorny. And that
blast of heat really hits you after this
thing has gone down the hatch. It's
delicious. This is definitely more of a
rice dish than just a dish you eat on
its own. They definitely have a lot of
peppercorn here. I'm just going to go
ahead and take this off. It's going to
be a little too much pepperc corn, but
look at all that roll on that scallop.
This thing is super spicy and peppery.
It's delicious. And it tastes very much
like Thailand.
Spicy,
garlicky, tons of flavors.
It's probably one of the only places in
the world you can find dishes like that.
I mean, usually with a scallop you
roasted usually has some or has some
garlic, maybe vermma chili noodles.
Never had it like that before. Okay,
check this out. This is the salted egg
squid. This looks phenomenal and doesn't
look spicy.
Tummy needs a tiny bit of a break right
now.
10 out of 10. This is mindblowing.
Tons of salted egg. Absolutely tinger
ash can be squid. The salted egg sauce
is wonderful. Little shepherd's pur in
here. A little heat. Oh my gosh. This is
so good. So good. This is like magical
dish right here. Especially with your
rice. I'm excited for this, too. Look at
this. Look at all the giant chunks of
crab meat. Take some noodles. We're
going to dunk it into the curry till
that looks nice and beautiful. Put the
crab meat right on top of that.
It's so good. This restaurant did not
come to play. I mean, this is a hardcore
flavor focused restaurant. Oh, that was
something. Ginormous chunks of sweet
crab meat soaked in that fragrant lake
of a curry. Just an incredible amount of
flavor in this dish. Little crunch from
the greens.
Bright flavors
with that sweet tender crab meat all
with some nice chew. Really nice chew
from the rice noodles. Oh, this is so
good. That curry is incredible. like
incredible, mind-blowing so far with the
four dishes I've had. And this is
supposed to be their top one right here.
Sour grouper curry. Look at this.
Ginormous chunks of grouper fish. Let's
take a little piece right here. Let's go
ahead pick up a spoon so you don't lose
any drop of that flavor.
It's great. Delicious. The fish is
tender.
This curry is so good. Really nice rich
curry with a perfect blend of sour
flavors. It's spicy and sour.
The flavors are rich and deep. And that
flavor has definitely penetrated. Look
at this. Really steeped into each piece
of tender fish.
Wow. Wow. This is ridiculous as well.
Like every single dish, this might be
one of the best restaurants I've been to
in Thailand. Everything is so good.
Yeah. I'm going to have to say highly
recommend. And I got one more dish left
to try. Oh, here it is. H is already on
fire. Basil with waggy beef. Wow. So
much garlic. So much chilis on here.
Love it. I think the common theme for
every single dish in this restaurant is
really bold flavors. Like very bold.
This one, tender beef, garlicky, very
spicy of course with that awesome basil
flavor.
Perfect with rice. Feel like I'm going
to need a second bowl of rice here.
Oh, this is such a awesome burning
sensation on your tongue that only Thai
dishes can give you. Oh, that's so nice.
Also, I found a ice cream store nearby.
They sell handmade ice cream and it's
all low sugar, made with fresh
ingredients. And this one is coconut
chocolate.
Wa.
That is really creamy.
Like really really creamy. Isn't that
yummy? Like really good. Incredibly
thick. Just coconut and chocolate.
Wow.
Really thick. Really smooth.
It's probably the thickest, most milky
ice cream I've ever had.
That's really good. I like it. Drive to
this. I haven't had a bowl of boat
noodles yet here in Thailand. Can't have
that. Especially since I came by boat.
So, going to go grab a bowl of bowl
noodle.
Ah, this log place is closed. It's too
bad. So, this is supposed to be a really
good bowl noodle place.
Look how beautiful this noodle is. Oh
man, this thing is smelling oh so good.
This is a thick thick broth. Wow. This
is about to be a flavor bomb right here.
Couple meatballs, some pork, scallions,
sprouts.
Oh my gosh. So good. Wow.
This is Thailand right here. This is a
legit taste of Thailand. rich
flavorpacked broth. Going to add some
vinegar in here just to balance out the
richness a bit. Some chilies as well.
This is a thick thick bowl of bone
noodles.
Oh, it's magic with a little vinegar
added. A little more heat.
Pure magic in a bowl.
This is probably the best B noodles I've
had in Thailand so far.
Oh, it's so magical. This thing tastes
like it came out of Hogwarts kitchen.
The noodles are just the springiest.
Perfect texture. Nice crunch from the
sprouts. This broth is so mysteriously
satisfying. Little chicken liver,
little pork liver adds to the deep umami
that's in this bowl.
The soup you can tell has been simmering
for a long, long time.
A so much flavor. You also taste the
cinnamon, the star. You can smell the
star when you walk up to this noodle
shop.
The blood adds an extra thickness and
even more umami to this broth.
If it wasn't for the garlic, Dracula be
all up in this.
The pork is so tender, by the way. So
tender.
It's just perfect. Even more perfect
with a splash of vinegar.
I mean, this thing is savory. A little
sweet, aromatic, sour, spicy, rich,
thick. It's like all the flavor of
vingers assembling in your bowl.
I haven't had bone noodles in a long
time.
I forgot how good it is.
Oh, this is incredible. Especially
because the meat is so tender and they
put so much meat in here. Like every
bite you're getting a a nice piece of
meat. Look at this. There's still more
liver, meatballs, slices of pork.
This is a bowl soup that you really got
to eat in Thailand.
It's just iconic.
Of course, I've had bold noodles outside
of this country. Doesn't even compare
really. It's like the most thrilling,
tasty roller coaster ride. When you're
eating it, your body is just so happy,
so excited, and it's over to it. Really
is. If I wasn't about to go for a
seafood meal, I order a couple more
bowls of this.
This is going to have to be my last meal
before heading to the port. So, getting
to the city center from the port takes
about 45 minutes. So, it doesn't really
leave a lot of time here. Of course,
figure I'm on an island. Should get some
seafood. And all these seafood
restaurants here, I think they do get
their lobsters, fish, everything fresh.
Got a fried lobster with a side of pai
and a steamed chili lime red snapper.
Okay, this lobster looks really, really
good.
I'm kind of regretting getting a fried
lobster cuz everybody said to get a
fried lobster here. That's why I got a
fried lobster. As you can see, the fried
lobster, the breading is super soggy.
The top looks good, but the inside, look
at this. It's just kind of pointless
with the breading.
It's soggy. Breading aside, this is
delicious. It's a pepper lobster. You
can see all the ginormous pieces of
peppercorn in here. It tastes
phenomenal. Really, the flavors are
outstanding. It's just that the breading
is soggy.
I got a piece of the lobster back
without the breading.
That's really good. They do use fresh
lobster. I saw him bringing it in on a
truck before. I think if I do it again,
probably get the grilled lobster or a
different version without the breading.
Yeah, flavor is tremendous. I mean, it's
really a shame because the meat is super
tender and sweet. It's just the outside
is not crispy. I mean, not only is it
not crispy, it's soggy. Yeah, if it
wasn't for that, this would be a really,
really solid lobster. By the way, pai on
the side. That's really good patai.
Okay, look at this steamed red snapper
with chili and lime. Wow. They
definitely are very liberal these use of
chilis. And this is a super tender
looking piece of fish. Super super
tender looking.
That's awesome. I think this is better
than the lobster. This fish is awesome.
Like heavenly.
Like the most tender fish you'll find
anywhere. Like really is. I mean, this
thing definitely fresh. You can see how
juicy and succulent it is.
Wow. Wow. Wow. The flavors are so light
and citrusy. This is such an incredibly
bright dish. Like you see all the
chilies. It's not overly spicy at all.
Wow. This is awesome. This is a 10 out
of 10 fish. Like really. I thought this
should be okay after the lobster, but I
think this tastes better than the
lobster.
It's nothing's overdone. It's not too
spicy. It's not too garlic. It's not too
anything. The integrity of the fish is
100% retained. I thought this was just
going to be really spicy. It's really
just utter perfection. Wow. No, I mean,
this is one of the best steamed fish
I've had anywhere.
I can't get over how good this is. Even
when you take a whole bite of the
chilies on top, it's not too spicy. It's
just perfect.
Perfect blend of sweet spice, garlic,
everything. Bright aromatics of the
herb. This is awesome fish. I'd come
back and get some more of this. This
street is kind of behind the main
shopping center. It's a little touristy
obviously, but the seafood is solid. I
highly recommend getting this fish. I
almost didn't get it because I figured
the lobster in the past had be enough.
I'm so happy I got this fish. This is
outstanding. It's one of the best fish
I've had anywhere. Seriously, it's so
good. Wow. I mean, a lot of good food
was had today on this very short
excursion. I mean, that Michelin
restaurant again, like sometimes you go
to Michelin restaurants in Asian
countries and it's highly reviewed and
whatever. It turns out to be a flop.
That one incredible. I love the salted
egg squid. The crab curry was a 10 out
of 10. The boat noodle I had was about
as good as it can be. The ice cream was
unique. The fish is good. The lobster,
like I said, texture aside, amazing
lobster. It's actually really good food
on this little island. Again, I wish
this excursion was longer. I could
definitely spend another day here
eating. The problem is I didn't have
time to rent a scooter and just kind of
go around the island because it's really
difficult to get around the island
because taxi is kind of limited to uh to
the major areas. But yeah, if I ever
come back, take a scooter, go around the
island, eat some more. But first time on
this island and first time here and did
not expect the food to be as good as
this. All right, got to finish up. Get
back to the port. As always, I'll place
our winter list down below for you guys.
Thank you all so much for watching.
