In the second round of the 2025 3M Open, Wyndham Clark shot a 6-under 65 to get to 10-under par overall. Clark is T8 and trails by four shots going into Saturday.
Yeah, tied for 11th in the Scottish Open,
4th in the Open Championship last week,
so certainly has found something.
On the tee from Australia.
Right.
Guys do not want to go right at this whole location, obviously.
Windham going with a little flat one just left of it.
Beautiful looking shot if it's the number.
It is, spins it back nicely.
To begin his day with a birdie just outside of 7 1⁄2 feet.
Nicely done.
He moves to 5 under.
Well, Windham Clark, first to play here after his birdie,
leaning, looking right,
and this is right of the fairway bunker
into some taller grass under a tree.
Yeah, that's all he could do, y'all, for this type of shot.
Kind of like that.
Some pretty decent stuff and got used to it,
and obviously he's been playing really well
over the last couple weeks.
Yeah, played the second easiest yesterday,
playing a little bit trickier today
for those who have played it so far.
Somehow, Bubba, somehow.
Started up the left.
Hit the tree and came on down.
The lie was fine, not great, but he's got plenty of power.
This is getting a little right.
This looks pretty good, just left of it.
Yeah, smart play.
Take your medicine.
You can see him hold that face through the finish.
He wouldn't let that thing go left.
Well, out to the left, now turning right.
Looks good, but going to miss just on the high edge.
That was a really, really nice putt.
Yeah, really good effort, perfect speed, good read.
Saw a little mystifying when it went by 12 inches
and it's directly behind the hole.
Why the heck didn't it go in?
But walk away feeling like he hit a good putt.
Really hard strike.
This is out to the right, but it is turning a little bit.
Should catch just a piece.
Yep, it does.
So two on the green, one in the bunker.
You're at 13 for this group of gutter up.
Yeah, he knew it right when he hit it.
It was high and hard.
Gave it a little too much at the bottom, Susie.
Beautiful.
Putting.
Our tracer technology provided by Titleist,
the number one ball in golf.
That's got to go.
And he's safely on land.
Looks like it needed to go a little bit.
That's OK, just right of it.
Hey, risk-reward, right?
He took on the water, had a pitching wedge in.
He's safely on.
Do you?
Yeah, I think it fooled him a little bit.
He was putting more against the fall line
instead of down the fall line.
In for his par.
Yeah, when I'm taking this up the left side,
praying for it to slide a little bit.
His prayers have been answered.
Speed slot.
Hey, you got to talk to that ball.
Another one of the guys that really generates a ton of spin.
Most of the guys that cut the ball do.
Spin it a ton, a little steeper.
This could be good.
Excellent control there.
Very good, good opportunity to move it to minus six.
Did.
His birdie putt's coming up here shortly.
Yeah, this has a chance.
Nope.
Really, really straight there.
You got to just get something started in the hole,
hit it firm.
So we will see a few drivers here today.
It's all about hitting the fairway, though.
He's got it going left again.
I would say he's going to hit a really good shot
if he hits it on the green.
And that's exactly what I thought would happen.
Come up a hair short.
Right, I mean, hey, it's him,
but it's always nice to have a partner in crime out there.
And Wyndham's trying to hoop this.
Nice.
That's how you extract yourself from a tough situation.
And it's always way more break than you think.
And isn't there some statistic that 90% of putts
are under red or something along those lines?
It's something ridiculous.
Wyndham on a very aggressive line,
trying to drip it back to the right if it's the number.
Good job.
Yes, sir.
Inside of 10 feet, very aggressive there.
Wyndham Clark.
I'm ignoring you.
That's an art, not a science.
Maybe sense some of the frustration
on the greens for Wyndham.
This is starting further left, and stay in there.
It's going to catch the rough, not the deep stuff, though.
Gets all the way up on top.
We'll have to see that lie.
Is that off to the left?
The smart play would be hit it over here to the left
and lay up.
He just didn't have a clean lie on the ball.
And that's what he's done, left it
in a good spot, looking with a great angle
to this back right hole location.
He's hitting it over there, a little left.
Pretty good there.
Challenged the back part of the green,
and he's going to have a good look for birdie now.
And then it really slows down right at the hole.
Oh, it's low and quick.
I'm thinking of a business opportunity here at Willie
Mack, the Willie Mack Motivational Line.
A calm up, you're struggling in your round,
will get you going.
Oh, yeah, it's perfect for Wyndham's shot trade.
19 on, got about 15 over that corner,
so you just don't have much usable space.
He's hitting a good one here, though.
Out safe to the right.
OK, good shot.
Very nice.
Yeah, it's about as good as he can do from right there.
That's right where he was trying to hit it.
I'm like, Wyndham, who knew that you hit the best tee
ball over there in the rough?
I mean, that's funny.
Chris got her up.
You think he hit the perfect shot, and he was handcuffed.
And who wants to hit a wedge out of a bunker, a fairway bunker?
Wyndham peeling one from left to right,
right down the middle of the fairway, position A.
That's a beautiful drive.
Just a wedge for Wyndham, taking dead aim.
Yeah.
Here we go.
Coming off birdie, Wyndham Clark.
Here at the third, looking good.
Needs to fade a little bit.
Ball a little below his feet.
Starts out to the right, staying there.
He's hammered it.
Good effort.
Two-putt par for Clark, stays at six under.
Should be a driving range seven iron.
This is high, and this is left.
Should catch that back left edge.
Slow half.
Yeah, maybe you got a little read from Chris.
I don't mean slope-wise.
I just mean pace-wise.
Yeah, this needs to go hard.
Go really hard.
So this should be pretty straight.
Oh, my god, this.
I didn't want to be the guy that hit the green.
It makes you forget how crummy the two-shot was.
Right.
Yeah, I should have said something condescending.
This is up the left, and it's not coming back.
I do not think it's catching any fairway.
Yeah, I don't know if I stay in the short stuff
or the long stuff.
I have to wait to see.
Short stuff being the shorter of the long stuff.
I mean, can he get it to the green?
Yeah, it looks like he's going to.
This came out way better than it looks.
This is getting back there, too.
Wow.
What a shot.
That lie.
You couldn't even see the golf ball feet.
He's trying to hit these with the right speed.
This would be a heck of a birdie.
Wow.
That's just incredible.
Bounce back.
Wobbly off the tee a few times today.
See if he can just hammer one.
Are y'all tracking that one?
Because that is hammered.
He just flew it by or just about even where Adam Scott is.
Wow.
This is high, and this is on a really good line.
Be the number.
Sure was.
Our cameraman thinks it's about just just less than a cup.
He's dialed in.
Got to give my man some props.
I don't know his name, but I love him.
Yeah, smart play.
Just get this in play.
That's perfect.
Right?
Don't make any silly mistake here.
Make sure your strikes good.
Strike is good, and it is just that just a hair short right of it.
Fantastic.
Let me see that with Wyndham.
Got all the firepower in the world.
Birdie eagle birdie.
Playing some good golf here.
He's at nine under on the tee at eight.
Yeah, 193.
That's not as bad as he thought.
A little break off that slope for sure.
This continues to get better and he'll walk up there and smile because.
It's two for two.
Wyndham Clark five under.
On his last four holes.
Yeah, that's how you get it done right there.
Six under through his last five holes.
Little freshening breeze.
This too is left there.
He did have a bit of a mud ball.
If it's the right number, it will come off.
Yeah, that worked out fine.
Yeah, he's the only only one of the players that picked up a bit of a mud ball and it was on the right.
So it kind of deflected left off the face.
Yeah, I'd always call Wyndham a streaky player.
But I mean, he's played so well so often in the last couple of seasons.
Maybe out of that realm, but still when he gets going right there first page of the leaderboard for now.
Wyndham Clark.
Very nice rounds.
Six under 65.
