So, there's a couple of things I'd like
to share with you that uh that I didn't
already. Um, one of them was our trip to
Washington
uh on April the 22nd when Jeff Raph and
I um met the senior US administrative
officials just a couple steps away from
the president and himself.
When we walked into the um into the
conference hearing, the first comment
just as we were sitting down was we
recognize and support Alberta becoming a
sovereign nation. That was the first
comment. And so there's a couple of
things I'd like to share with you that
uh that I didn't already. Um, one of
them was our trip to Washington
uh on April the 22nd when Jeff Barath
and I um met the senior US
administrative officials just a couple
steps away from the president himself.
When we walked into the um
into the conference hearing, the first
comment just as we were sitting down was
we recognize and support Alberta
becoming a sovereign nation. of the
first comment. And
and right now
at right now, to your point, Peter,
right now, uh, Alberta 51 isn't on the
table, but it could be at some point in
the future. You're absolutely correct.
Other things that were sort of
interesting that we talked about was um
a $500 billion
uh transition loan that we would only
draw down as necessary as we work with
the US to transition from a province to
a country. And the second thing was with
respect to the US currency because we
know what will happen to the US dollar
when Alberta meets Canada. the dollar
will uh will sink even more than it is
now. Now in the circumstances of getting
out of Canada, we get out from all
federal regulation and taxation. So that
means the richest of liberty services
becomes less well ostensibly your your
uh Canadian dollar which is worth less
will still be able to buy um because the
price points will be lower. But the
request that we made is for the US to
agree to take every Alberta citizens
Canadian dollar and have the bank
exchange it for one US. But that's
another thing. The planet.
We made some specific requests to the
US, but it started with a question that
came to us. would it be helpful if the
president or the secretary of state were
to say anything about government
sovereignty? And the response was, well,
it would be if what you said were two
things. Number one, that
you talked about the benefit to
Albertans, the better of Alberta.
And number two, at the time of a
successful referendum, you acknowledge
Alberta's sovereignty to the Alberta
government and to the rest of the world.
I want to just mention a conversation
that I had at the Bonnieville uh
premier's dinner where Premier Smith was
sitting next to me and on the other side
was Mitch Sylvester. And I asked her the
question. I said, "What are you going to
get in front of this parade?" you know,
we already had at that point was around
220,000
members. And uh I said, "What are you
going to get in front of this parade?"
And she said, "Well, give me 6 months."
Okay. Well, we're going to give her 6
months to see and see what happens. But
I left her with this thought,
and I want you all to think about this.
You can win with us.
You can't win without us.
Here's a pension a conversation that I
had.
