So, regarding bioterrorism, it's actually in a totally new paradigm right now.
In the past, you know, we're dealing with anthrax, we're dealing with the spores, we're
dealing with neurotoxins.
So, we understand that you need a lot of technical skills and also a lot of the resource to build
up those traditional biological weapons.
But now, with biological knowledge development as well as AI transforming the society so
much, and AI technology is also deeply used in biotechnology development now.
So nowadays, for example, you can very easily, using AI to help design microorganisms, you
know, you can synthesize a whole viral genome, just a few hundred dollars, very, very cheap,
And also, with integration of the AI technology, you are transforming people's understanding
of the protein structure and line functions, genetics, epigenetics, and also cellular re-engineering.
All these fields is all transforming under the AI.
So, AI enhancement, not just in the technology we are familiar with, like computing power,
AI in your daily life, not just like that.
It's actually significantly changing the biotechnology, bioengineering, biomanufacturing, all changing.
So, under this situation, you know, this technology definitely is a double-edged sword.
So, people can use it to benefit your life, but you can also use it to harm the society,
harm people.
So, right now, you know, the Chinese communist regime has a tradition of not observing bioethics,
medical ethics.
So once they have the technology, they can do anything.
They can be dual-use, you know, for civilian purposes.
On the surface, they can say, well, this is helping cancer research, drug development.
But at the same time, they can use it to develop bioweapons, you know.
So, the threat is at an unprecedented level.
And so, we know, for example, Baidu.
Baidu has set up a biomap system.
And it uses over 100 billion parameters to analyze human biological functions.
So, once they have this technology established, once they aggressively collect so many Chinese
people's biological behaviors, biological information, including your genomic information,
maybe even your brain activities, emotional information, they will build up a deeper
understanding of human function, as well as how to control human functions.
So, it's a very dangerous period right now.
The AI change in the human world, not just because maybe in the future we'll have a super
intelligence.
It also brings a stress that so aggressive development in biotechnology can change the
ecosystem of the society, the ecosystem of nature, as well as the economic operation,
the society's operation with human intervention measures designed by AI, supported by AI.
So, you know, there are many ways it's changing the society.
And the key is that the evil specter of the Communist Party, if they have the technology,
they can use it in a very bad way.
Yeah, I think the AI is bringing so much stress to the society.
So, traditional ways thinking about countering this threat, the people have been talking
about we need to apply ethics rules, innovation of AI, bringing additional guardrails regarding
about AI development, right?
So, this is traditional way of thinking.
But fundamentally, this is not enough.
This is a technology beyond traditional technology, right?
So, if you're using technology, if you're using traditional ethics to try to defend
the humanities against AI, I don't think it's enough.
I think the human society needs a spiritual awakening.
And we need to bring back the spiritual life, the spirituality, the religious belief, the
orthodox beliefs into the human society again.
The society has been on technology, industrialization for at least two centuries after the industrialization,
right?
So, especially with the modern technology, the society becomes so much dependent on the
technology involvement.
People believe in technology.
People believe that technology will improve their life.
And so, they are not following the traditional belief that there's a God that's a creator
beyond the human dimension.
There will be like a guardian angel watching human society development, right?
So, you need a divine intervention.
Basically, I'm emphasizing the human society now need a divine intervention in order to
curtail the uncontrollable growth of AI.
I don't think human capacities can completely do that because people are still thinking
about competition in AI development.
You know, the U.S. government can put more money on it.
China can put more money on it, right?
More people dive into the AI technology.
Of course, it will help people's lives in certain aspects, but at the same time, the
whole mindset, the humanity mindset will turn into technology-dependent development.
And so, your true spirit will be further suppressed.
The humanity will be actually truly suppressed in this route of development.
So, fundamentally, I think human society need to go back to the traditional way of believing
there's a creator, there's a God, there's a Buddha, there's higher beings watching
the human society.
And so, people actually need to play more in this crossroad that human society is facing,
whether you choose the spiritual route or you choose the technology route.
That's why I think the human society need to actually bring back the teaching of intelligent
design, the creationism in the classrooms.
In the past, under the principle of separating religions from the governments, and also,
as well, many people promoting atheism, right?
So, many of these important spiritual teachings were taken out of the classroom in the education
system.
So, I think it's actually a wrong path, and we need to go back to tradition in order to
make it work.
Yeah, so in summary, do you think we need to build up this stronghold of human morality
in the future?
Yeah.
Morality is almost like the fundamental way that people regard humanity, but people can
still feel weak if they just stick to morality, because it's God given the standard of morality
to human beings.
So, eventually, you need to bring back your belief of the God, the Creator, the Buddha,
and all the righteous forces in the universe to help human beings.
Oh, wow.
Thank you so much for doing this talk.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
