Marco Odermatt has won the World Cup three times in a row.
Today we will discuss with him some of his favorite skis and some technical advice.
In the end, I will challenge him and test his training time on the race track.
Let's see how long it takes.
And also, for you there is a fantastic new pair of skis to win in this video, just like in the days to come.
Hi Marco!
Hi!
Nice to see you!
Have you already had an intense training day?
Yes, all good.
And I mean, you are often in the mountains, now in the summer probably not for a few months.
Or is it really so that there are not whole months without skiing?
Yes, yes, really almost four months actually.
So from mid-April to the end of April the race skis disappear.
That's when they come back at the beginning of August.
However, this period is entirely dedicated to fitness.
A lot in the gym, weight room and otherwise.
And enjoy the little free time of the summer.
Here we are, devil, the Bernina group with the majestic glacier behind us.
Do you still notice it when you often travel to ski?
Do you still feel it?
Yes, this is the bad part of it.
I think you don't appreciate it every day.
It's like that, it's like you say.
In a way it's a job, another one goes to work on Monday morning and we just go.
Here there is a really huge luxury, it's obvious.
However, you also have to keep the focus focused.
And so you're not just always enjoying yourself without thinking.
This morning in the gondola we went up together, it was dawn.
I thought, wow, what a really extraordinary office you have there.
Certainly.
How is it in ski resorts?
Even there you have traveled all over the world.
Skiing in America, skiing in Europe.
Are there places that particularly impress you?
Where do you think is more beautiful for you?
Yes, I think the local ski areas.
It's always like that there.
It doesn't matter where you are in the world.
The Engelberg ski area.
This is and remains something special.
But every year I really like to go to the Dolomites.
In Italy we have races before Christmas.
Altabadia, Val Gardena and E.
From a panoramic point of view, really brilliant.
What do you think of the races in America?
Is there a panorama that leaves you breathless?
No, as far as the panorama is concerned, no.
It's just that everything is much higher, but you don't feel it.
And the mountains are fundamentally much higher.
There are trees up to 3,000 meters.
I was surprised too, yes.
It's completely different.
The snow is excellent.
Perfect to ride.
So cold, dry, aggressive.
But as a view, it's never like the Alps.
And now let's go for a ride on the skis.
And then let's take a look at your career.
Let's also talk about the skiing technique.
I just saw the ski race.
Mamma mia, it's really fast.
Go ahead, I'll follow you.
Very fast.
Now let's just look at the hill behind you.
I watched you a bit this morning.
Are you really already at the start?
Do you have the curves?
Do you cross them mentally?
Do you beat your chest?
What are the topics you say you can concentrate on?
I believe that, as far as the goal is concerned,
it is as similar as possible to a race.
In training, it never succeeds 100%.
But still, the tension of the body, the material.
Optimal works, it just needs almost 100%.
Therefore, you really need concentration, focus and maximum tension.
Even if it's just a training, here you have to give your best.
You have won three World Cups in total.
Obviously, you aim to win the fourth.
How do you stay motivated to want to take the next crystal ball?
Yes, I believe that by trying these emotions or winning once,
you never want to go too far.
That alone is a sufficient reason.
But there is also a certain relaxation or satisfaction
knowing that you have already achieved all this.
You no longer feel the same pressure,
even if it didn't have to work.
Then you know that you have already achieved everything.
And this is also a very good starting position.
Fully.
There is a new Dutchman this season.
Will Hirscher fight again?
Yes, it's not an entire championship,
but I firmly believe that he can aim for the podium during several races.
I think so, of course.
And there is a race for you that you say,
ah, it's still a kind of black box, I want to try it.
The Strijf or...
Exactly.
In fact, on the list it turns out that everything is already checked,
except of course the victory.
Strijf race.
On the Strijf, exactly.
That is still missing.
I already have three places on the podium,
but I still miss the Golden Rooster.
And this is certainly the biggest goal.
I wish you much success.
Many spectators, Marco, are perhaps in the World Cup
or in this type of descent,
giant slalom, little involved.
If I had a piece of advice to give to those who are watching us
and who are not so much experts in skiing technique,
what would it be?
Which exercises do you consider the most suitable on the track?
And which images of movement do you prefer
to rediscover the right feeling on the skis?
I believe that the free ski compared to the agonistic ski
certainly represents a big difference.
It's clear, it's like driving in Formula 1, maybe.
However, I really believe that many people
block slightly at the height of the anchor,
where the inner ski is more advanced forward.
For me, it's really a great exercise,
which actually comes back more,
allowing the anchor and the outer ski
to carve with elegance,
without the risk of blocking.
You can move forward,
so make sure you keep your hips firmly back
and use the outer ski behind.
You feel much better the outer ski.
This is also something I'm still working on.
Let's go, come on!
Yes.
Now we have arrived here quietly,
but to our right you can already see the race track,
where I will soon record a time against Marco Odermatt.
Mamma mia, really steep and icy,
especially in the upper part.
And by the way,
if this video receives more than 25,000 likes,
then we will come out with another great ski star.
You can comment who you think it is.
Come on, put a like and comment.
Yes, narrow curves, it's really fun to follow them.
And we also have special skis here with us.
You are Swiss, ski on a Swiss brand.
Stöckli, how did you get to skis?
This is really a very fascinating and significant story,
because I've been on Stöckli for a long time,
I always have to think about it,
about 15 seasons in total.
It started when I was a child,
in ski training.
My colleague already used the Stöckli
and he was always a little faster.
Then I just took his skis
and immediately I went almost two seconds faster.
And at that precise moment I was using a Stöckli.
You were completely immersed.
Yes.
Now you too, in this case,
we have here next to us the Laser WRT Pro,
which I also have in that classic top ski,
as usual it is in the shop.
You also have your model,
so your edition.
What makes the Laser series
fundamentally special to your eyes,
but especially the WRT?
It is without a doubt the most sporty touring ski
that you can ever own.
The structure of the giant, however,
as far as agility is concerned,
is almost like that of a slalom ski.
For this you can make shorter or longer curves.
Yes, very, very sporty, even for me.
Yes, certainly.
Here is the Pro model,
which has the race plate mounted underneath.
This offers further rigidity.
At this moment there is just
a ski of this kind to win for you.
It's not bad, is it?
Yes, it is.
Fantastic.
So all those who comment under this video
and follow Marco Odermatt on Instagram,
follow Stöckli on Instagram,
follow my channel on YouTube and Instagram,
the conditions are below in the description.
You can click on the profiles.
I wish you all success and good luck
and now it's time for me to announce.
Really?
Now we will try to examine
and consider Marcus's time a bit.
Do you know how much time you did?
Yes, how much was it?
I think 44 seconds.
The time is still.
Let's do a minute earlier.
Yes, not really, no.
You don't lose an entire minute.
No, but I think that if I had to estimate it,
I would say about 20 seconds.
Yes, certainly.
So with these skis,
now I will delve into the race course.
Let's see how it goes.
Thank you for your time and have a good season.
Good luck with your incredible experiences.
See you later.
Thank you.
To you.
A lot.
I am really extremely happy
and incredibly grateful
to have finally been able to leave Cesena
and to continue with greater commitment,
conviction and determination
my personality.
Damn it!
Mamma mia!
How crazy and crazy this course is!
Take a look here,
the action is completely broken and destroyed.
Ouch, ouch, ouch!
Really?
On the icy surfaces
there are some very visible tracks.
Here you just cut across,
but with this cold and clear weather
it is absolutely beautiful to drive.
It was so nice to meet Marco Oderma.
He has just landed again with his team.
Everything is very, very well planned,
their preparation for training.
I find it incredible what such an athlete
must recall in those moments,
not only here in training,
but also during the descents.
I wish you good luck, Marco, for the season.
Another video to watch, you can find it here.
And to conclude,
the time I set is visible right here.
And here is Marco's time.
So, big difference,
I still don't have the measurement.
See you later.
Thank you for watching.
Don't forget the contest.
Everything below in the details.
Bye.
