Motorcycle Trip to Magadan with Tenere 700. In this video series, I will show you my trip from Varna to Magadan. No fancy edition, just raw reality.
See how deep it is here. It's not bad. But what about after that? How much more?
Magadan. Here we go. Small town in the end of the world that is so so difficult to reach.
around 7-8 kilometers inside. I don't know how many exactly I have to go.
this is now serious river and here I have to to check
what is the situation. Because here I might not be able to go. Here I can't, but the river...
See how deep it is here. It's not bad.
But what about after that? How much more? I really don't know. This might work, might not.
Let me think. No, here on this stage I'll say no. Because I don't know what will be the situation
after that. It could be just a few meters, it could be a few more kilometers.
I don't really want to risk. It's not that deep. If I see another one like this I will give up.
But this one now was the last barrier that I put myself. I already got like, I don't know,
20 kilometers. I still need to go about 20 kilometers. I don't know how many rivers
crossing I've got. Not big like this, but I don't know. This will be the last.
I hope I'll be able to find it finally. This Gulag camp. This now is already too deep.
Now I completely soaked myself with water. And here on this stage now I will give up.
No, Pavlin, you cannot give up now. You're so close. Guys, believe me, when I'm watching it now
it looks easy for me. But when you're 20 000 kilometers away from home, 3-400 kilometers to
the nearest town, 20 kilometers away from the main road, which by the way is not so busy,
the things look a little bit different. So, no other options.
Hey man, if I only have one more person with me, I'll try this as well. But
along here, in the middle of nowhere, no help, no telephone reception, nothing.
I don't want to risk. Anyway, let's go again with this.
It was here
and then it was here.
When I get out of all of this, then I'm gonna drain my boots and continue to Magadan.
Now I'm convincing myself that I took the right decision, because it might be just
a kilometer after that. But I can also do
some bad problems. This was the one that I was worried a little bit on the way back. Let's see.
Okay, it was all right. It was looking scary on the way back. I was thinking that I wouldn't be
able to climb it, but it was all right. If you remember the bike from a few days ago,
I perfectly washed it. Perfectly. After so much water, it looks clean. Good.
Let's see now what I have in the boots.
This is what I have from early morning, just to protect myself.
Well, now is the moment to say that you shouldn't do this at home. This is a stupid idea,
very stupid idea. I was on about 20 kilometers from the main road and 200 kilometers from the
first village and 200 kilometers from the second village. 150 actually. In this village,
no one can help me. So, it doesn't matter how hard I wanted to go and visit this place.
This was the moment when I had to say no and just go back. Because, okay,
see this. If something happens over there with the bike,
breakdown situation, flat tire, even very simple things, I wouldn't be able to fix it.
And what is the most important, I cannot call for help. I don't have any telephone reception here.
Let me show you. See the cell is zero. So, I do not have any telephone reception here on the road.
There I don't need to talk about it. So, the decision to go there alone was stupid,
but the decision to stop and go back was, I think, clever. Anyway, I'm gonna eat now
an apple. The one that I have in my pocket. I bought it yesterday in Susuman.
We will relax for five minutes and then I'm gonna put these wet shoes and ride to Magadan
to complete my mission. Actually, it's not bad at all. Okay. And now you might be thinking that
just because this place looks like garbage yard, I'm gonna leave my stuff here. No, no, no,
I will not. I'll take it with me and we'll drop it on the proper place. And this is what every
one of us should do when we have this time. Put it in my pocket and drop it later on the proper
place. Because, see now, all of this supposed to be a nice nature, but it's a garbage yard.
Anyway, let's go back on the road and see how many kilometers I got left to Magadan.
I'm gonna refill, I'm gonna eat and next stop is going to be Magadan.
Tank is full. I ate in this coffee, borsch with bread. 300 rubles, which is 3 euros.
By the way, it was delicious. Let's do now the last 200 kilometers to Magadan.
Hey, here I get like 25 kilometers, maybe a little bit more highway.
This is Palatka. Palatka on Bulgarian means tent.
The last 50 kilometers to Magadan. Magadan. Here we go. Small town in the end of the world
that is so so difficult to reach. It took me 45 days and a little bit more than 18 000 kilometers.
The bike is just my soldier. Hold everything, absolutely everything. Of course, it's dirty.
Keep in mind that it is already, I don't know for how many times it was dirty and then rain and
dirty again and rain and dirty again. This is actually only for the last few hours. Anyway,
I am here. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who support my journey,
everyone who follow my journey, every one of you. You are my heroes. Now I'm gonna jump on the bike.
Yeah, petrol can. I needed only once from Ust-Nera to Susuman 400 kilometers without
petrol station. Only once. And the rest of the kilometers never need petrol. Never ever.
It is 6 30 here. It is
eight hours forward compared to the central Europe.
Let's finally see the center of Magadan. I actually plan to stay here at least three days.
I need to see what will be possible to do with my future plans
to fly to Kamchatka, eventually go to Vladivostok.
From what I have heard all of this is not going to be possible, but anyway
I just want to be sure. And after that I have to ride back more or less the same kilometers.
Maybe a little bit less.
But I am glad that everything went fine and I came here without any problems,
technical or problems with myself. Here we go, Magadan in its full glory in front of you.
It looks like a very modern town actually. And it is, probably.
Okay, this is a train station and this should be the center, the main street.
Good morning from Magadan. The place I stayed is in this building. Actually it is on the fourth
floor. You can see my boots on the window. They need to drive to Magadan. And we met here again.
And now we rent this apartment and this cost us 1000 rubles, which means 10 euros per day per
person. If you go to the hotel, it will be like 45 per day euros, something like that. The hotels
are very expensive. Anyway, as I said, the next three days I will be here. The first thing that
I will try to find now is a car wash to wash the motorcycle, because now everything you touch
is very dirty. I just want to remove all of this dust, because in the next
two days I will be in the town riding like this and I don't want to get messy. And of course after
that I'll try to check the condition of the bike, lube the chain, find some spare tubes if I can,
and the rest of the day I will just relax. And of course I'm going to show you the town,
the center of the town and everything. All right, I found a car wash,
so I can spray the bike a little bit, at least to remove the dust.
This will be, I believe, everything. Okay, so the idea is just to remove the dust,
not to wash the bike completely. It is pointless, because in the next few days it's going to be the
same. Just to remove the dust, and as you can see, because of my saddlebags all of this is now
gone, but that's all right. I'm not that type of person that is going to cry because of this.
For me, important is the condition of the bike, not how it looks. And it cost me only two euros
to wash the bike. Now it's much better. Let's see the town. It is actually the cleanest
town that I have seen in the last two-three weeks. Clean and green. Not bad at all.
This is the top center of Magadan, or maybe not the top center, but one of the central parts of the
of the town, with the Orthodox Cathedral, beautiful with golden roofs, a small square with pigeons,
a few administrative buildings, and this monument of Svetityl Inokestiy,
Moskovsky Apostle, Siberia, Donovostok, it's like a bishop of,
Moscow bishop, and the part of Siberia, and far, far east, something like that. I cannot
translate it properly. Anyway, the standard buildings around, and now I'm going to jump
on the bike and make a simple ride around the central part, just to show you what it is to
ride around Magadan. And the guys on the car wash even gave me this to protect my ass now
from the wet. All right, let's ride a bit to show you this part of the world.
Cathedral! It was the train station, yes, this is the train station. I stopped here yesterday,
and then I'm gonna turn left here to the top, just to see part of the buildings.
Yeah, I look forward to see everything. I already contacted the local motorcycle club,
and they will call me later today, and I hope they will help me with the questions that I've got,
and find another spare tube, I need another tube to have with me, and all the questions I've got
regarding to Vladivostok, Kamchatka, and everything. So yeah, I don't know, will it be
possible, but anyway, at least I will try to do it. This is one of the main boulevards,
and as you can see, it's not bad at all. Green, all of these trees, and today is 14 degrees,
3rd of August, in the middle of the summer.
They said that after maybe 10 days or two weeks, the summer already finished here,
and then the cold start to occupy this land very very slowly,
and until the end of August it will be already cold, September it's already cold.
Yeah, hotels here are expensive compared to the hotels that I have been in the last
month. Here, by the way, everything is expensive because everything comes from a long long road,
and the road that I came, so there are no other options, and that's why here,
together with the Russian guy that we traveled two days ago,
we rent a small apartment. If you have a hotel like this, for example,
it will cost you probably 40-50 euros per day, only the hotel.
So at the moment everything is all right, as I said, I will just need to check the bike,
prepare a few things a little bit properly, especially the chain, see what I can do,
what I can buy, and then we'll see. We'll go more east or go back, but whatever.
See, the buildings are not bad at all, beautiful architecture, nice and clean, as I said already.
Ah, this is a park, I guess. Yeah, this is the park.
I'll come and walk in this park later. I'll also go to the port
to see where it is, to see this Ochot Sea, Ochotsko, whatever is on English.
Beautiful town, but it has a lot of negatives. The biggest one is that it is so far away,
and it is cold. The summer is very short. As I said, the summer last year was on Thursday.
Someone got drunk, went to sleep, and when he woke up, the summer was gone.
