After a relatively quiet year in 2025 due to internal financial struggles, KTM is roaring
back to life with a bold return to the motocross scene. Under new ownership and with full production
resumed, the Austrian manufacturer has just unveiled its refreshed 2026 SX range, marking
the first major release under its summer offensive. And make no mistake, this is a statement of
intent. KTM's SX range is legendary in motocross circles, and for 2026, the brand is offering 10
revitalized models designed to cater to riders of all ages and skill levels. These include the 50SX,
50SX Factory Edition, 65SX, 85SX, 125SX, 250SX, 300SX, 250SX-F, 350SX-F, and the flagship 450SX-F.
While there are no changes to the engines, frames, or suspension systems, the updates target practical
improvements and styling enhancements that make a noticeable difference in real-world use.
The most eye-catching upgrade is the new factory-inspired color scheme. Still deeply rooted
in KTM's signature orange, the 2026 bikes now feature striking purple highlights on the fuel
tank spoilers and fort guards. The frame remains black, as does the seat, but the updated graphics
evoke the aggressive visual identity seen on KTM's factory race bikes in the FIM Motocross
World Championship and AMA Supercross series. All 10 bikes have received a redesigned radiator
closure for easier maintenance access. Depending on the model, some also feature a new protector
cap for the FuelLink QuickLock system, a thoughtful tweak that simplifies fuel system maintenance,
especially in dusty or muddy conditions. For the two-stroke models, KTM has refined the wiring
harness routing and fixing points, ensuring better reliability and compliance with new FIM
noise regulations. Additionally, specific bikes like the 50SX and 65SX are now equipped with WP
EXACT AER front forks engineered for improved damping and control. This is a notable upgrade
for younger riders who need more responsive handling as they develop their off-road skills.
In line with this, the 65SX and 85SX have been brought more in line with KTM's full-size bikes,
adopting the same 17mm triple clamps with closed screw nut format. This prevents dirt
and water intrusion, an essential improvement for motocross durability. The 65SX also gets
a revised clutch fixation system and enhanced throttle cable assembly, reducing the chance
of kinks and malfunctions. The 85SX, designed for riders transitioning from smaller bikes,
includes a new rear brake lever with two adjustment settings, making it easier for
different rider sizes to find the perfect fit. It's a small touch with a big impact on rideability.
Perhaps most exciting is KTM's commitment to electronics and rider customization.
The 2026 SX bikes are compatible with the Connectivity Unit Off-Road and the KTM Connect
app, allowing riders to fine-tune traction control, engine mapping and suspension settings via
smartphone. This level of tech, once reserved for pro racers, is now available to weekend warriors
and aspiring champions alike. It's important to note that while these aren't full generational
updates, the full-size SX bikes remain in their fourth generation, the 50SX in its third and the
85SX in its second. The 2026 updates are substantial enough to keep them competitive, desirable and
race-ready. Starting in August 2025, these new models will begin hitting KTM dealers worldwide.
Pricing will vary by region, so KTM encourages fans to check with local dealers for availability
and cost. KTM also teased updates for the SX-E electric range, but those will be revealed later
in the summer. For now, the 2026 SX lineup sets the tone. It's bold, refined and built for battle.
