Impact Month 2022 | Beach Clean-up Activity

Since this morning to this afternoon, we are having a program which is a beach cleanup program with 70 deloiters joining me. I'm very excited to join this program. This is the first program. I highlighted a few points, a few things. Everybody is very excited. Everybody is very passionate to pick all the trash. My highlight during this day is actually our team. We found like the fishing net, so it's turned out really really big and it's quite a teamwork to actually extract that fishing net. A lot of the day during this beach cleanup activities, I find too many styrofoams in the beach. Even it's not on the shore part but also on the inner part of the beach. And then I see that the styrofoam is not something that food waste styrofoam. But when you buy something like microwave and then refrigerator, the things that you find in the styrofoam, it's what you found. ESG is all about environment, social and governance. The reason why we should manage effectively is because it really impacts everybody. It doesn't just affect businesses, it impacts everyday lives. Definitely we should be able to manage it to make sure that everybody's life is really good. This program is very important for all of us and also very important for us as the Deloitte firm. Because we believe that to maintain actually the sustainability environment and everything is a very thing that we need to do in our future as a Deloitte. Avoid plastic means a big hope and big improvement to this world. The biggest challenge between sustainability and climate change is because sometimes in order for us to implement sustainability, it really requires so much effort for everybody. Change of lifestyle, change of mindset. In terms of the challenges, it's really how we're going to do things differently in order for us to be able to protect the climate for later on. We in Deloitte, we collaborate with an NGO called Anne Liberty Society where we would create a program called From Trash to Treasure where we upcycle all the high value plastic that we've discovered during this beach cleanup program as well as the trash that we collected in the office into more valuable merchandise that we can share ourselves to the team but also to our clients. Hopefully that will impact spreading of more awareness to the clients. What motivates me to join this program? I want to learn about the environment, about the waste management and how to preserve the environment in Jakarta beach coastal area. I really like the initiative to clean up the beach and also like this is quite refreshing so it's kind of like two birds in one stone. I think by joining this activity I would like to fight climate change by reducing the use of plastics and use more environmentally friendly approach on my daily basis, bringing my own utensils and obviously this is a good activity that can be carried forward next time so hopefully there will be another beach cleanup activity next year. After seeing all the trash that washed up ashore I think makes me realize be more aware of the things that we consume and how our behavior, our habit. It starts from me to do the right thing how to make sure that I do a proper thing to put all the trash. I would like to do in the near future an impact to the world climate is minimize to use plastic and start by ourself, myself. I hope by doing this individually this small thing will becoming big thing. Start from my home, our office I would like to share this information to our relatives, to our family so they can follow and aware about sustainability in the future. For me that I'm going to do is be able to sort my garbage right now. That one is important not just using the plastic but being able to sort it properly so that the people will be able to manage it effectively.
