Riding for Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha,
your reigning SMX, Supercross, and Motocross champion,
number 38, Beacon.
Welcome to the danger zone.
Is the sunlight my face up?
Yeah.
Because it's the perfect time of morning.
Welcome back, race fans.
We're here at Iron Man.
It's been a long break, but we are back at the races.
It's cool coming to Iron Man.
You always think this is going to be
the last race of the season.
It always is.
But I think you guys have already
heard that we're coming back here in October.
They moved the race up a little bit earlier in the schedule,
so we're not ending the year officially here at Iron Man.
But you know, six more motos this season.
Got to make them count.
You guys have seen the news about the 450.
So I think Hayden just wants to go win as many 250 races
as he can while he's got a couple left in his career.
Say good morning to him right now.
Why should I be the intro?
Yeah, I knew you'd be doing the intro this morning.
Don Hayden contributed.
That was good.
Let's go racing.
Back's pretty muddy right now, so the track's
going to get a lot faster come second qualifier.
But it's always good to go out and see what the bike feels
like, even in those conditions.
You kind of want to set the standard right off the bat.
Feel like you got to go at least do a couple fast laps
and see where you're at.
And Hayden finished out on top, which was good.
And then this track suits him.
A lot of jumps and ruts, kind of like Cali style.
So he digs it.
Either way, so far so good.
He's got to go out and do another qualifier,
go out for Moto 1 and 2.
And like I said, he's leading the points,
so he's got to go out and kick butt.
It's not over yet.
Got a lot of racing left.
So at the end of the day, he's got to stay focused.
Hopefully, he can go out and win these Motos.
He really, really needs to.
Really needs to go out and just do a perfect performance.
And hopefully, that ends with a good result.
So anyhow, that's that.
That was good.
He told me he would do it.
Good to know it's jumpable.
I think that adds a little flair.
He's like, you got to have big jumps and stuff,
because some guys aren't going to hit.
It's cool to see that.
I wish he could get a little bit more comfortable on the track.
With that being said, we're only like half a second off.
That's nothing.
Speed's there.
We're healthy, going racing.
Today is hot.
Not a cloud in the sky.
The humidity is real.
But we live in Florida, so we're used to this.
How's it feel to be back at the races?
It's good.
I've been off the bike 12, 13 weeks now.
So yeah, it's good to just get back in the flow of things.
Been training with the boys a bit.
Yeah, we're making the expectation.
Just try and go out, have a bit of fun.
End off the year solid, and get some day drops before SMX.
That's the main goal.
And come out swinging there.
Oh yeah, it feels good to be back.
I think it's six months on the die of my last race.
So it feels like a lifetime.
And then again, it kind of flew by.
But we definitely put in a lot of work.
Aiden wanted to give you this.
Good luck, Aiden!
Yes!
Hey, do you think he's going to win today?
Heck yeah.
Any day, all day, all day.
Dude, thank you, Aiden.
You're the best, brother.
Let's go, D.
That's it.
Left up, it punctured part of my muscle and everything else.
It's like, eh, but it isn't.
It gets rowdy.
What's these two?
So this is air assault, jumping out of helicopters.
And then this is my combat infantry badge that I earned.
Same thing, a combat action badge.
Got that one in Iraq.
That was a difference.
Whenever you exit a helicopter, it's a little bit different
than that.
We're healed this year, so we're able to run it.
Don't worry.
We're getting that dove.
Don't worry.
We got pigs last year, too, but I had priorities with my wrist.
I had to get done.
So this year, we're able to do it.
Yeah, pretty amped.
It's like a party at the dirt bike races, so it should be fun.
Hayden.
There you have it.
The intro to MX of Nations is going to go down in October.
So I'm excited, man.
This is going to be good.
Hayden's first year representing America,
as he does every weekend at the races.
But we need to bring it back to America, right?
That's the goal.
Solid team, Eli J.
I'm excited, man.
This is going to be a big deal.
We've got a few minutes left, and we're
talking about those opening ceremonies.
We've got to stick around.
We've got a little break in the action, too.
So what do you normally tell them?
How do you hype the boys up?
Yeah, I try to come up with something every time
to kind of make them a little mad, you know?
You think that's a strategy?
It works for him, because he's already mad.
Always.
From the outside.
Once you put him on the inside right here,
Hayden's got to go outside.
There you go.
And the slow race cuts him off on the brakes.
Deegan to the lead.
And if that typical Hayden-Deegan charge
were coming, it really felt like in the second half of the race,
you put your lines together.
Could you feel that kind of change?
Because you closed that gap down really quickly.
Yeah, for sure.
I had to find a few lines there at the end.
Joe had a good line choice.
I mean, at these last races, you always
know Joe's going to be strong.
He does it every single year.
So yeah, I mean, I'm going to try and fight the second moto.
Good fight, that first moto.
That was fun.
And yeah, Joe Roddy's good.
Well, earlier today, you got announced for Team USA.
It'll be your first appearance here in a couple months.
Can you just say what that race means to finally represent
Team USA?
Yeah, thank god I'm healthy this year,
because I'm ready to turn up.
And we need a USA win, bring it back home.
So yeah, we got Eli and Chase.
I think that's one of the most stacked three you can have.
So we're coming out swinging for the USA fans, for sure.
Good job.
We'll see you in a little bit.
Thank you.
I love it.
Back there, making me saw the enthusiasm.
OK, Hayden just won the first moto.
And we're doing no interviews with him
until after the second moto, zero.
It's up to you to keep yourself and everybody else away, OK?
Heading out for the second moto right now.
Just strapped on the Insta360 X5.
I'm going to give you guys a good look at things
from my perspective.
100%, the Hayden that we saw early in the season that
was dominating.
But I have to ask you about your line choice today.
You had so many unique lines.
As the main line really started to break down,
it seemed like it made a huge difference
that you were able to find smoother lines on the racetrack.
Yeah, I felt like myself again.
That was nice.
I really haven't felt like myself in a while.
And I got out there and just started
putting the track together.
I found some sick lines.
I was like, OK, he's definitely not doing this.
But yeah, it was a good moto.
Especially getting to announce Team USA this week,
I know how to put a show on, especially since it's here.
Yeah, so it was good.
And thanks to all the fans.
You guys were amazing.
Let's go, baby.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks.
That was a freaking good race, dude.
That was just straight up good race.
So that was good.
A good 1-1 day.
Good points day.
Whole shot of second moto and just checked out.
Can't ask for more than that.
So, suit.
All right, that just wraps on today.
It was actually good.
It was nice to win again.
In that fashion, 1-1 is always the best.
So first moto, made it a little harder myself.
But we got it done.
And then second moto was start to finish.
And we have MX Nations here.
So it's at this race.
So they were like, you got to put it on.
So I did.
1-1.
Hit the track, win a race at MX Nations.
Stamped it.
And now, 1-1.
I have a 51-point lead.
So I have a chance to win the championship next weekend.
The goal's always to be nice, to wrap it up around early.
And that last round's like a show round.
But again, it doesn't matter.
You could win it the last round, too.
It's not that deep.
But winning it around early is fine.
This Nations, last year, I mean, people still run their mouth.
But they probably just broke.
So that's why.
I actually got to get screws taken out of my wrist.
That's why I couldn't race it last year.
I was able to go race at 250.
And this year, they said, do you want to race it?
And I was right up for it.
I'm healthy.
Let's go.
Yeah.
I mean, it's obviously huge to get selected for that.
Only a few of the best guys get to do it
throughout their career.
And to do it, I mean, on a 250, there's
only one 250 guy that gets selected.
So yeah, I'm excited.
Race all the GP guys.
They come over here.
See what they got.
It's really it.
I mean, healthy as of now.
And we have a stacked team.
So we need to win it.
