Hi, fam.
So today's recipe is going to be a little bit different
because it's gonna be a vlog style recipe
and I'm trying something different out.
So I want you guys to let me know
what you think, if you like it.
As you can see by the title of this recipe,
I'm gonna be showing you a digestive smoothie.
And I came up with the idea to make this recipe
because I have been lately drinking matcha
and every time I drink matcha, I go to the bathroom.
And I was like, oh my gosh, this is great.
Like I need to do a video on this.
People need to know this.
Like matcha makes you go to the bathroom.
Because I've been trying to switch up my coffee
every few days during the week for matcha.
And one thing I love about coffee
is that it makes me go to the bathroom
and matcha does the same.
Matcha just has so many benefits.
If you don't know what matcha is, it's green tea.
It's like a green tea powder, very concentrated.
It does have caffeine.
So if you are not a caffeine intake drinker,
then you can still make this video, make this video.
You can still make this recipe without matcha
because the rest of the ingredients in the smoothie
are going to help you go to the bathroom.
So right now I'm missing one ingredient.
So we need to go to the store.
You guys are coming with me
and we're gonna go get that ingredient.
Let's go.
All right, we're in the car and we're on our way.
We're gonna get on our way to the market.
Okay, I am at H-E-B and I wanna show you guys
these carts that are so cute and fun.
And Colette loves them.
And I am getting some ginger.
Look at this beautiful ginger, it smells so good.
So I am gonna get a few gingers and,
oh, I also got some Epsom salt
and Epsom salt is great to relieve sore muscles.
So I like to take some baths with Epsom salt
whenever I feel sore and just to relax too.
Hey fam, I'm back in the kitchen
and now we're gonna make the recipe.
But before I make the recipe,
I wanna talk a little bit about digestion and how it works.
So this smoothie recipe that I'm gonna make
will help ease digestion and will help your digestion.
But essentially what needs to happen
for you to have an improved digestion
has to do with a lot of components.
I'm gonna give you a little quick 20 second description
of how digestion works.
So digestion starts in our mouth.
Once we start chewing our food,
the saliva starts the process of digestion.
Then it goes down our esophagus to our stomach,
down the small intestine and then the large intestine
and then it comes out.
But many times what happens is that food
will get stuck for longer periods of time
in the small intestine and the large intestine,
which will cause us to have indigestion, constipation,
bloating, gas, et cetera.
This could be because of the way that you're eating.
So if you're eating highly processed foods
or you're not eating a balanced diet, that could happen.
If you're not drinking enough water,
if you're not moving your body,
if you have a lot of stress.
So a lot of things can affect digestion.
Essentially what needs to happen
for you to have a regular digestion, a good digestion,
is to change habits.
So the things that I just mentioned,
the way that you eat, movement, hydration,
sleep and stress.
Because stress can also affect our digestion.
If you're feeling a lot of stress,
that will tense up your body
and that won't allow your body to do its natural process.
So it's really important to take a look
like a bird's eye view of our health
and take a look at each of the parts of our health
and evaluate where we're at, where we can improve.
And this smoothie will definitely help you
and it's a step in the right direction
because you'll be adding a lot of fiber and water
and certain minerals and certain components.
And the ingredients contain components
that will help your digestion.
But it's really important to get to the root
of a problem as well.
So with that being said, let's start with the recipe.
The first ingredient is pineapple
and I'm gonna be using two cups of pineapple.
Pineapple because of its fiber.
It contains vitamin C,
which will help boost your immune system,
which will help you have better digestion.
And it also contains an enzyme called bromelain.
So it will help you break down food easier
so you can digest it better.
Okay, next ingredient is cucumber.
And I have about a cup of cucumber
and I chose cucumber
because it's extremely high in water content.
And we wanna be hydrated to have good digestion.
It also contains vitamin C,
which helps boost our immune system
and even has a little bit of fiber,
which will help our digestion as well.
Next ingredient is half a lime.
You can also use lemon, but I didn't have lemon,
so I'm gonna use the lime.
And I chose lemons, lime,
because they're rich in a fiber called pectin.
And pectin is a natural prebiotic
that assists your gut by feeding healthy gut bacteria.
And it will also help reduce gut inflammation.
So for that reason, I'm adding half a lime to our smoothie.
Next ingredient is ginger.
So ginger is great for overall digestive health.
It helps reduce gases, bloating.
And the most important thing
is that it basically speeds up the rate
at which food exits the body.
So that way it doesn't linger as long in the gut,
which is what we want.
We want good digestion and food to not get stuck in the gut.
So I'm just gonna add like a little piece of ginger,
like maybe a third of this piece.
And ginger also protects the gut.
So different from like, for example, laxatives,
that will make you go to the bathroom,
but they're not gonna protect your gut.
They're actually gonna make your gut worse.
So ginger is a natural digestive aid
that also helps to protect your gut,
which is really, really cool.
The last ingredient of this recipe is matcha.
Matcha is a green tea that comes in a powder,
green powder form like this.
So the reason I chose matcha for this recipe
is because it's rich in antioxidants
and it has many benefits in detoxifying our bodies
and restoring our gut.
And matcha also contains L-theanine
that helps relax the body.
So if you're feeling stressed and you drink matcha,
it will help promote relaxation.
But it does contain a little bit of caffeine,
but the caffeine in matcha I find
is very different than coffee
because it won't give you like a big spike.
It's like a more sustained energy.
It's really nice and it helps you stay focused
and also gives you energy.
So I am a matcha lover.
Now I am more of a lover
because I've been drinking more matcha these days
and less coffee.
And matcha also helps with bloating.
So if you're experiencing bloating,
matcha will help for that as well.
Okay, just one teaspoon goes in.
We have all of our ingredients.
I'm just gonna add a little bit of water and we blend.
One cup of water to blend.
