Good morning, guys. Welcome to today's
video. A miracle happened. A huge
miracle. We got so much rain this
morning. I hear babies crying. All the
little boys running to me. And the
little girl is crying for me. Sylvia
will be so excited because she loves
when they want to come to you. Oh, there
she goes. Anyways, it poured last night
or it poured this morning. Like
absolutely poured. So, in a couple
hours, I'm going to come out here and
I'm going to pick out all these little
cherry tomatoes and some ripe ones right
there. Even over here, I got some ripe
ones.
Oh,
he's so cute.
He's so cute.
You are so stinking cute, big guy. How
does it How does it Oh, he feels pretty
thick.
Do you want me to? Are you looking for
love?
I always hate my voice when I do a baby
talk, but I can't stop myself. Smells
like somebody's in heat. I can tell
because you stink like pee. Oh, he's
peeing right now.
Stop drinking his pee. That's
disgusting.
>> On your own face.
>> He He just make him pee on your face.
>> He just peed on his face. He just You
know why he did it, though? He stuck his
head in the other goat's pee. He's
literally testing Oh, he's peeing on his
face now. He's literally testing his
pee, smelling it to see if he's in heat.
He They can't differentiate between boys
and girls, apparently. So, on the camera
this morning, I saw somebody rip this
off the wall. It's like the thing for
the hose. Who was it? It wasn't you. It
wasn't you. It wasn't you. It was him. I
saw him pawing it till it came off. But
look,
I don't know if you guys can see.
>> Oh, he sounds Get off. He sounds like a
man, but his eye is all better, you
guys. We're done the treatment and his
eye is all better. Wow,
it's gorgeous. Look.
Did you guys see it?
It's so pretty. He's got a nice blue eye
again.
Oh, that is so good, Sophie. We try and
bring the babies in every day at noon
and let them eat because they're
slightly underconditioned.
What does that mean? It means that
they're at the bottom of the the herd so
they don't get the choice food. So we
always try and bring them in and make up
for that so that they are
>> these collars popping up from
>> so that they have
good health.
He's going to be
>> Where are these thick really good
collars coming from?
>> I don't know. Well, there's tons of
them.
>> They're popping. That one's bad. That
one.
>> Oh, see?
>> Yeah. That's good though. You need them
to be like that.
>> Well, now if you grab your goat like
here, give me your hand.
Now, if you grab your goat and it goes,
hold your arms.
>> Well, you're not going to grab them that
hard.
>> They don't listen. You just hold them.
>> That's good. I'm glad he's eating. The
thing with his eye, I kept on saying
like for days and days and days. I put
that cream in there for like 3 weeks. I
Every day it was like a little bit
cloudy. A little bit cloudy. I didn't
realize that I had to stop using the
cream cuz just putting the cream in made
the cream made it unc cloudy. But my
friend said like, "It's going to be
fine. It's going to be fine." It
happened to her. Her her goat had an
ulcer on his eye before and it came back
normal. He's normal. His eye is normal.
I I would never have believed it could
happen. If it ever happens to you and
you need my advice because just let me
know and I'll tell you because
it was so scary. It was so scary. But it
there's just a cream that you get from
the vet and it takes care of it.
>> Eat green at night.
>> Did he eat green at night?
>> Yeah, cuz there was less.
>> Okay. So, anyways, two things on today's
agenda. So, we got to explain one thing
and then we have to do one thing. So,
these are the Bobsy twins. If you guys
don't know, that was like a show in the
' 50s. I think it's an old lady
expression. I don't know why I used it
cuz it was beyond before my time.
Anyway, these are the twins
and
they're going to the show and we got to
shave them up. So, that's on today's
agenda. But first, we have to explain
who we're breeding to who. So, let's do
that. This is Oreo. Oreo McFlurry. And
he is our last buckling that we bought
this year. And he is a Nigerian dwarf.
Posie. He's a Nigerian dwarf and he is
wonderful. He's not pole. That means
that he grows horns and he has blue
eyes. Stunning blue eyes. This is Toffee
and we're going to breed him to her. The
reason that we're going to breed him to
her stop
is because
this little girl is pulled. It means
that she doesn't grow horns. And because
of that, we cannot breed her to another
pulled goat. So, he's going to breed
her.
We're hoping that he's going to breed
her
and we're going to breed him to her. So,
this girl is Zoe and she's not
registered and she's a dark color. And
so even though he has bright genetics,
we wanted to kind of have we wanted to
have babies with a lighter color. Her
and this big mean girl right here.
They're go with the best genetics on the
farm. I want to breed everybody to him,
but unfortunately we got to split it up
to make it fair for those poor little
boys. This is Nico. He's uh our second
in command
buck, and he is beautiful. He has got
blue, bright blue eyes. Bright blue
eyes. And he has one big moon spot on
his neck, but he's brown and white,
chocolate and white. And he has good
genetics for a pulled goat. Not as good
as Oreo, but he still has good genetics.
I don't know if you can see it, but
there's a big brown spot on his neck.
And that brown spot is a moon spot. So
just one moon spot, but he does have
moon spots. He just has one. That big
brown spot on his neck.
kind of goes on the top of his head,
too. They're like, "Are you in heat? Are
you in heat?" So, he is pulled. He's
pulled. He has uh blue eyes and he has
one little and he has one giant moon
spot. So, you cannot breed a pulled goat
to a pulled goat because it can cause a
hermaphodite. It's common in lots of
breeds, actually. So, we are going to
breed Hers. No, we are going to breed
Nico to little Miss Lola here. And we're
going to breed Nico to this sweet girl.
This is Winnie. And she's going to be
bred with Nico. The big goat to a big
goat.
>> All right. I'm wrong. I should have
brought my list.
>> This one.
>> Who's she being bred to?
>> Oreo. That one. Oreo. That one. Nico.
>> Oh, okay.
>> That one. Nico. That I don't know that.
>> Okay. So, let's start fresh. The bigger
goats free to the smaller.
>> All right. So, this one also being bred
to Oreo.
This one being bred to Oreo. I think I
said that. This little girl here being
bred to to
>> Nico.
>> To Nico
>> because she grows horns and he doesn't
grow horns. So, we can breed those two
together. And she's a smaller goat and
he's a bit taller. not too tall, but we
want to bring down his size a little bit
in babies. So, we're going to breed him
to her. And then also little Oakley over
there. She's a nice small goat. And
we're going to breed her to Nico and
bring that size down a little tiny bit.
That's our wish and our hope. Anyway,
like any of
>> can be bred to the bigger goats.
>> Any of Nico's babies that are going to
be taller, we're hoping to breed him to
shorter goats so that they're shorter
cuz we like a medium goat. Not a tall
goat, not a short goat, just a medium
goat. So, we're aiming for that kind of
size like Lola's having Nico babies cuz
I wanted to.
>> All right. So, what do we have so far?
>> Nico. Oreo.
>> Oreo. Nico.
>> Oreo. Nico.
>> And who are we breeding her to?
>> Gay.
>> Yeah.
>> Whoever your heart desires.
>> Ziggy. Over in that far corner is last
year's buck. He's a beloved buck. He
gave us a lot of baby girls. Gorgeous,
beautiful baby girls. He has amazing
confirmation. He's well bred. We love
everything about him and he's only
getting not very many girls this year,
but he's going to get bred to Tilly.
This is the goat that he one of the
goats that he's being bred to. She's
hiding from me. Last year she got
pregnant with one of his babies and we
had a problem. It had its head back. I
couldn't get it out. Called the vet. The
baby didn't make it, unfortunately. So,
she did have a Ziggy baby last year, but
she didn't get to keep the Ziggy baby.
And it was gorgeous. It was a light
colored, beautiful baby just like all
the rest of our other goats this year.
So, we're going to rebreed her to Ziggy
so that we can see what happens. This
girl is already bred. If she isn't bred
by some miracle, then she's going to be
bred to Oreo McFlurry, our new guy. So,
let's do a count. Oreo.
Oreo.
Oreo.
Oreo.
That's four for Oreo, right? Oreo has
horns and all the goats that he's being
bred to have horns except for
except for Toffee who doesn't have any
horns. And then she doesn't have grow
horns either. And if she's not bred,
she'll be bred to Oreo. So we got four
goats for Oreo.
Nico. Nico.
Nico is pulled. These ones all have
horns. You guys can't see, but right
behind Toffee there, Nico has his
eyeballs up to the fence looking to see
who we're talking about. Who Who am I
being bred to? So, Nico,
Nico,
and Nico. So, we got the new guy if he
can do it cuz he's a pretty short, but
he has a few months still to grow and
he'll grow fast. So, Nico and Ziggy was
short when he bred them all last year
and he bred the big girls no problem.
So, uh we have the new guy, Oreo
McFlurry. He's got four girls this year.
Nico, the new boy, Nico, who is our pool
boy, has three girls this year. And
then, who do we have for Ziggy? Tilly.
We just have one for for Ziggy. And the
problem is, even though he has really
good genetics, we've seen what he
produces with all these girls. So,
>> and we can't breed him to his babies.
>> And we can't breed him to his babies.
Stop chewing my necklace, my bracelet.
We can't breed him to his babies. So, it
>> when Lola has babies, he can probably
>> Yeah, but next year it'll all work out
because we'll have babies that aren't
his and that he can be bred to them.
Wait, how does that work? It's
complicated, you guys. The whole thing
is complicated. But you know what's not
complicated? Nap time. When you're a
pig, you just lay beside your your
girl's foot and then it's all good. So,
those are all the babies. Four, 5, 6, 7,
8. And those are babies that we are only
breeding as long as they hit the weight.
They've reached every other requirement
except for the weight gain. So, they're
close to 30 lbs. Now, I'm going to get
Sophie to help measure them this week
and see what they actually are with like
a proper scale for them.
Um, but we won't be breeding any of the
babies unless they're 30 lbs because
that's how you get shoulder dystocia is
when and shoulder distoas you can still
get them out but it's tricky. So, we're
definitely going to be waiting to make
sure that they get to the right weight
which is like
70% 70 I have it written down 70 or 75%
of their full grown weight and Nigerians
typically weigh a certain amount. So
then we just base it off of that. 35 to
45 lb closer to and I've actually just
heard that recently. Usually it's like
45 to 50 lb. So we're definitely going
to be waiting to make sure that they're
the right weight because we don't want
any babies getting stuck. You would
think that it would be like the
measurements of their pelvis of all
their bones in the back
that would tell if they're going to have
shoulder dystoia and get stuck. But it's
actually their weight. You have to make
sure that they're a certain weight
to prevent that. So, that's the last
little bit. And we won't be breeding our
babies until they're 8 months old. Some
people say 7 months old, but we're
probably going to be waiting until
they're at least 8 months old, maybe
even 9 months old. But there's only one
thing that's for sure. this girl and her
other girl and her other girl will not
be being bred this year at all because
she's they're obviously way smaller than
the others
and they won't be ready this year. They
were born later in the season. These
girls were born in February. These girls
were born at the end of April. All
right, we're just waiting for this
little guy to eat some hay.
>> And then we're going to bring the baby
girls in and give them some lunch time.
He what?
>> He isn't like standing and eating.
>> I know he's a typical boy. He's lazy.
Likes to lay down and eat his hay.
>> How we're getting that little tiny goat
to breed this giant goat. I have no
idea, but I know it happened last year.
We had a little tiny guy and he bred her
perfectly. She had triplets this year.
So hopefully it's going to work out. You
might be wondering, why are we going to
even keep three bucks if we don't if
we're only going to use one buck for one
dough? And like Sophie said, next year
we'll have more babies and it and we'll
need more bucks. All right. We probably
won't need more bucks, but I like his
genetics and I like the kind of babies
that he makes. He makes nice, nicely put
together babies. All right. So, what
we're going to do is we're going to
shave our babies for the show.
And I'm going to use one of these things
on top of the blade. We shave the boy
with just the blade and and this is a
blade cover or I don't even know what
it's called. It'll make it be a little
bit longer.
I don't think I don't know
which one we're going to use, though.
All right. So, the reason that we're
going to do it a little less short is
because we're at the end of the season.
Oh, Sophie, you can sit on this bench. I
brought it down.
>> I know. I've been sitting on it every
day while we eat.
>> Yeah, it's nice. This is going to be my
stay.
All right. So, like her legs, I shave
all the way down, right?
>> You're shaving her all the way. All of
her
>> all the way. Every single bit except
Yeah. The tail we're going to do a
little different.
>> So, I'll leave the tail.
>> Yeah. So, we're So, it's late in the
season. You're supposed to shave.
Oh, that's good.
>> That's good.
>> Yeah, I think that's good, actually.
Yeah, I think that's perfect.
Yeah, that's nice.
That's actually perfect. Sophie
literally has such a good head on her
shoulders for goats. And she's not even
as into the goats as she is into the
horses. She loves them and she loves the
babies, but she's not into the showing
and stuff, which is so stupid cuz I want
to show anyways. So, usually you you
shave them like in May and then you
don't shave them again. So the the shows
that are like in September and October,
you just go with your goat shaved from
May. You don't have to redo it. You just
leave it. So we're So to counteract
that, we're shaving them now in August,
but we're only going to we're not going
to shave them straight down. So we're
going to hopefully end up at the same
air, same spot that our goats would be
if we had done them in May. Does that
make sense? They're just getting shaved.
I don't have to worry about
something being under the stomach when I
showed that.
>> I know girls are easier for sure.
There's nothing under there that you
have to worry about. Oh, she's looks
like she's got a cut on her head. Maybe
not. Just a sunburn.
Can you reach that?
Sophie, that's going to make me shave
her. The thing about this goat that I
don't love about showing her is that
she's under condition. That's why we
bring her in all the time. I keep coming
over here so that I don't you guys
aren't hearing the so that you guys
aren't hearing the
razors the whole time so loudly, but
she's she's under condition. And I have
been trying my we've been trying, you
guys see, we come down every day at noon
and put her in and give her grain. I've
been giving her grain three times a day.
We've been bleeding them in in the
afternoon so that she they're forced to
eat some hay. Like they are able to get
to the hay and it's uninterrupted.
Nobody's chasing them off. We bring them
in, make sure that they're eating like,
and then we sit with them in the morning
and at night. We sit with them for for
God only knows how long. I sit in that
chair back there.
>> Okay.
>> And their legs have shorter hair, so I
can't like
>> Yeah.
>> So, I don't know.
>> I mean, I think the theory is to leave
the legs a little longer anyways,
but I sit in that chair.
This is their grain.
And we do it in the morning and the
night. I sit with the girls at night and
Sophie sits with the boy at night to
make sure they eat their grain. So, we
feed them all separately so that
everybody gets what they want. But she's
growing really strong, really, really
fast right now. And her mom is like a a
thinner kind of goat. She's not as big.
Goats, even babies with a bigger barrel.
Can't tell where I haven't shaved, bro.
Like with that bigger barrel do better
in shows. So, I don't know if she's
going to how well she's going to do. But
look at see if you guys can see the
difference. So, this is shaved. This is
not shaved.
Yeah, you're doing Sophie's really good
at this. Never shaved a dog in her life,
but she can shave a goat.
>> I shaved my horses.
>> Oh, yeah. She shaved her horses.
Anyway, we're going to just keep trying
to We got to get all along there.
>> Anyway, she is less conditioned than the
other little girl. I don't think I
mentioned that the reason that we have
it so that we the reason that we don't
want her to them to be shaved down too
much is because it's going to be cold
soon. But look at this. So, we shaved
him thinking that he was going to go to
a show and his hair is pretty much at
the same level now as hers is that we're
shaving today. It's like grown back a
ton. It's super cute though. I'm so glad
we fixed his eye. The vet said that he
could have to have surgery. If it didn't
go, if it didn't heal, he would have to
have surgery. It looks so good. He looks
so good. I love him. His dad was 22 in
and his mom was 20 in. And 20 in is what
I like. Lola's 20 in. So, he's like a
little bit taller. Boys can be taller,
but he's a little taller. He's still
within the breed standard, but he's
taller than what we want our goats to
be, but he's pulled. It's really hard to
get a good pulled goat. But hopefully
that helps explain who we're breeding to
who. We're breeding Nico to all the
shorter goats and we're breeding
Oreo McFlurry to the majority of the
goats because he has the best genetics
and only if he can do it cuz he's just a
little guy. And then we're breeding a
Ziggy just to one goat because we didn't
see babies from Ziggy last year from
her. And then next year we'll breed more
of Ziggy. I love Ziggy. I love
everything about him. It's all a
process. We're going to see what the two
boys do to our herd this year and then
next year we're going to change it up.
Fix what we need to fix. She's walking
because she
[Music]
because she wants to go this way. She
doesn't want to go this way. Come on.
Come on. Good girl. Good girl.
Good girl. Yeah. Okay. I'm going to walk
down there and I'm going to stack her.
Okay. One more time. Come on.
Come on.
She's stacking. She's not stacking.
[Music]
Come on.
Come on. Come on.
>> I know. It doesn't feel nice when you
act crazy. Come on.
>> Oh,
>> can I try?
>> Yeah.
>> She doesn't give her the choice to not
walk. She's not going to walk.
>> I know. You give her the choice to not
walk. But how do I do it without choking
her? I don't like that. Well, if she
moves forward, then the pressure gets
released.
>> I feel like she doesn't care about that.
All right, try and stack that baby.
[Music]
>> She likes being stacked.
>> Mine doesn't.
[Music]
I like this. She puts her head up
though.
Sometimes I feel like if you lift them
up and then Yeah, she looks good.
And then just turn her head. There we
go. Look at that. So, one thing she does
good is stack.
[Music]
Mine puts her head up and goes up. All
right. Do you want to try your baby now
or do you want to look at She looks so
good.
[Music]
That's basically exactly how they look
in the show ring.
[Music]
They fight.
It's just awkward because the chain is
awful. I Do you think I should order
like a
>> Don't order more stuff. This is why
everyone's
>> Yeah, that's a good point.
There we go.
She's a cutie. This is little Hazel's
turn. I like this. I like shaving them
because this is our whole setup here.
This is like what you're supposed to use
at the show. It's kind of more like a
show thing, but what people actually use
at the show are those kind of colors or
they use totally like they use whatever
they use these. I've seen people showing
these. All right, we're going to get an
idea.
Uh, who looks nicer? I think Hazel looks
nicer.
>> She's more square here. Do you want me
to hold her?
So, we're shaving her down a little bit
more. All right. So, he's So, she looks
way better. I'm going to have to redo
Posh. She looks way cuter. We used a
smaller blade, but still a blade guard.
And that she should Yeah. Way better.
And we didn't do their face or their
legs. So,
>> their face and their legs are the same.
>> Well, like look at up here. She's got
this little stuff. And yeah, her face
isn't bad. But right here, we are taking
a break though because it is We're hot.
We're really hot. Some baby goats like
to show from the ceiling. They're like,
"Look at my belly.
[Music]
Yeah, we're going to have to work with
her a lot.
like a few times a day.
[Music]
>> It looks like I'm choking her, but I'm
not.
>> No, you're No, we know you're not
choking her. She'd be like throwing way
bigger of a fit
there. Good girl. Good girl.
Good girl.
[Music]
>> I got to hold her up.
>> She's 3 weeks younger than Posh, I
think.
>> Well, and Posh has had more experience,
but even Posh isn't good. I'm actually
so so surprised that I'm into this so
much. I don't. So,
>> you were standing like a goat.
>> She's like, "No, I was jumping like a
goat.
Goats jump, you know.
Thank you.
>> Good girl.
At the show, people have to fix their
goats a h 100 times. Like, it's not a
big deal. That's what they look like.
We're leaving them in here to eat some
hay. She really likes to eat hay.
[Music]
Posh literally looks like a person.
Like, she has such a person personality.
She's like, "Did you get shaved? I got
shaved." I don't know if they want to go
out. I think they want to go out. I'm
going to give them some fresh hay
because goats like fresh hay. So, we're
going to go up to the house, take a
break, and we're going to
finish up a little bit later today cuz
we got to get it finished. And then
we're going to start walking them like
two times a day. I'll put it like that.
You guys can eat it. Okay. Fresh hay.
Fresh. Just eat the dang hay. Like I
want you guys to be nice and big and
chubby and and I want it to be cool out.
Not cold,
>> but like a little bit cooler.
>> Good job, man.
>> We want to shave him, too. So, if he
wants to shave him
>> cuz they have really long eyel
>> because we need to get pictures.
>> Nico looks now.
>> I know. Nico is so cute.
>> I'm touching you. You made him pee on
your face cuz you couldn't pee.
>> I want to shave him. Like, we should get
pictures this year of our boys.
But I'm not going to shave him. We're
not going to shave him because it's
going to be cold. Actually, it's the
perfect time for shaving because the
weatherman says that we're not getting
cold weather till November.
>> Just the way you are, just the way you
came. Don't you know that you're
beautiful?
