Este efecto brillante en la pintura se crea con un pigmento especial llamado pigmento fosforescente, este, a diferencia de los efectos fluorescentes, no funciona con luz UV, sino con luz natural o de una bombilla y además, dura con brillo varias horas.

Today I'm going to show you how to make this type of painting that, as you can see, looks totally normal during the day.
But, simply absorbing light from the day or a lamp, it looks like this.
Incredible, right? It looks like magic.
Well, it's made with phosphorescent pigments.
And the effect, as you can see, is amazing.
It even illuminates my face.
And no, no, it doesn't have batteries.
I mean, it's just the pigment.
It doesn't need any kind of ultraviolet light or black light.
Nothing like it.
Simply with the light of the day or a lamp, it already works and looks so impressive.
This is great to put it, for example, in your hanging room and that it lights up at night when you go to bed.
Do you want to know how to make your own?
Well, let's get started.
This here are phosphorescent pigments of colors.
And be careful, don't confuse them with fluorescent pigments,
which only shine when black or ultraviolet light is exposed to them.
These are different.
Phosphorescent pigments are pigments that store or accumulate solar energy.
Also from a lamp or even, of course, from ultraviolet light.
And when we turn off the lights, these pigments emit that stored light and it goes off slowly.
But also, don't think it turns off quickly,
since its light is bright for 2 or 3 hours after its last charge of light.
Look at this.
These are the tests I've been doing before coloring my face.
The best known are green and blue,
since these are the brightest,
although, as you can see, we can get different colors.
This is my color palette that I will use.
As you can see, green and blue shine a lot.
However, the other shades of different colors no longer shine so much.
That's because its natural color has been modified,
and well, in this way it can no longer absorb so much light, so it doesn't shine so much.
I will leave the web where I got these pigments.
I am from Spain, but surely if you search in Google for phosphorescent pigments,
you can easily find them.
Or you could also look for them with the term photoluminescent pigment.
Having made this little introduction to see how these pigments work,
now we have to go with the following,
which is the medium we use to mix these pigments.
Looking for information, I decided that this was the best option,
a bright, transparent gel.
And well, as you can see, its texture is quite viscous, of a whitish color,
but once dry, it is totally transparent.
Then to paint, I'm going to use a canvas, although it is not necessary.
You can use, for example, a watercolor sheet,
although if I tell you the truth, I recommend that you use a canvas like this.
The first thing we are going to be doing is choosing a character that has, well,
greenish tones to be able to be, because that's where we're going to get the most out of it.
In this case, I'm drawing Rock Lee here,
who, as you know, both his clothes and his energy are green.
Then we are going to take advantage of the fact that the most powerful luminous color is green,
to make, well, all the aura and energy,
and make it much brighter than everything else.
Once we have the sketch completed, we are not going to start yet,
I recommend that you do the outline first.
For this, you can use any permanent marker you have at home.
This is going to be the first outline, then we will do another one later.
And now, at this point, we are going to start making the color mixtures.
I will start using the blue pigment, we will add a little,
and then, with a spatula, we are going to pour a little of this gel.
Then we are going to start mixing it very little by little, and it will quickly begin to integrate.
The thing is that this gel has to be transparent,
because if not, for example, imagine that we put a little color with acrylic paint,
it would overshadow the whole effect,
since these pigments must be modified as little as possible,
that's why it has to be a transparent gel.
The truth is that I am not an expert on this subject,
I don't know if there will be someone who can tell me if there is a better product in this case,
although, from what I could be investigating,
this was the best product, the one that best suited to make this type of anime canvas.
For example, this one, which is blue, is the one that shines the most,
but as you can see, it is totally white in daylight.
In this way, this will be one of the ones that will shine the most.
I am applying this only on the background.
This gel is quite viscous and dries a little faster than normal,
so we have to put it quickly.
With the background done, I'm going to prepare my second mix,
this is going to be with the white color.
The white color, the truth is that it does not shine much, I thought it would shine more,
but hey, it works exactly the same,
we put the pigment here, we make the mix,
and I'm going to use this white glow for the Rock Lee bands.
As you are realizing, I am applying a very thick amount of paint in each area,
and let's say that it is also a bit difficult to spread this viscous mocha,
so you have to help yourself a little with the spatula and the brush
to accommodate little by little in the desired area.
The good thing is that as it is a fairly viscous gel,
it is accommodating and flattening over time,
so although it seems that at first it is like some mountains,
then it will flatten a lot.
The layer has to be thick, otherwise there would be irregularities,
that is, they would be like translucent areas once we see the night effect.
So we must try to make the layer that we are applying in each area
is quite uniform, speaking of thickness.
The more even it is, the better the effect will be.
As you can see, I'm not going to lie to you, it's a job that takes its time,
but I assure you that the final result is worth it.
Now what I'm doing is the same,
but I'm going to apply a little dot, as you can see, very little,
to mix it with the white pigment,
and with this what we are going to get is a color shadow
for more than anything the day effect,
that is, this pigment that we are preparing now will be the shadow of the bands.
By applying a little acrylic paint,
we are overshadowing the light and it will look darker,
but we will also get the day effect,
since it is not a white color, but now it is a grayish color,
and it is very good for us to give that shadow effect.
Maybe it's a little complicated to understand now,
but once we turn off the lights you will understand it very well.
Basically what we are trying to do is
that the drawing looks good both day and night,
so in this way now we are doing the shading with the gray color on the bands.
For the stones that are flying around Rock Lee,
what I'm going to do is mix a little gel with a little green pigment,
but remember that you have to take into account
that the greater the amount of acrylic paint you add to one of these pigments,
it will then look much less bright.
I am adding acrylic paint to the phosphorescent pigments
simply to give it a visual touch on the day.
In this way, on the rocks or stones floating,
we have this part of brownish color, lighter,
and then I will add a little brown acrylic paint,
a little darker, without going over it,
because if the color is very dark then you will not see anything.
And with that we already have the stones that look pretty good during the day,
and at night they look like this.
But we are not finished yet,
we are going to continue with this green pigment,
which we remember is the most powerful,
but for now what I am going to do is be coloring Rock Lee's clothes,
which is also green,
and for it and so that it also continues to shine a lot once we turn off the lights,
I am going to use these green colors, but as you can see they are very light,
and I will also add them in a small amount
so that the pigment can still absorb light quite easily.
This, I repeat, is so that in the day the drawing also makes sense with the right colors,
since with this type of pigment,
if we did not add a little acrylic paint,
in the day everything would look white,
and then the drawing would be blurry,
so we are going to sacrifice a little shine by putting colors in the day.
I suppose many of you will be interested in acquiring this product,
because it will be something very new for some of you.
I actually bought it on a website specialized in this,
I will also leave the link in the description in case someone is interested,
but I was looking and on AliExpress you can get them easily,
as I suppose there will also be in Temu and also on Ebay, for example.
Although you have to keep in mind that in specialized stores,
they will usually always have a higher quality pigment,
that is, it shines more.
Here I am already doing the skin and as you can see,
I have made some pigments,
I have added the green pigment and the pink and orange one,
and here now I am also adding a little pink,
to finish darkening a little and thus have the color shadow.
And here, as you can see, we have this fuchsia pink,
the truth is that it goes a little out of tune with the climax of the drawing,
but it is what there is.
And well, now I know that finally the effects of Laura from Rock Lee,
we are going to do them directly with the green and a little bit of green,
more than anything so that it does not look white in the day,
but remember that you can not spend much adding acrylic paint of colors,
and well, we are simply going to extend this magic paint
through the gaps that remain,
and all that would be the part in terms of the coloring of this canvas.
Another very important thing, you have to let it dry quite well,
the best thing is that you let it dry a full day,
since when it dries, all the pigment will settle perfectly,
and also so we can also continue with the next part,
which is to outline,
since as you just saw, it looks pretty cool,
but with the outline there will be much more.
We will inevitably have to give this second outline,
since as you have seen, the paint layer has been very thick,
and that has covered a lot the initial outline,
so we repeat it.
And yes, be careful when outlining,
because the terrain will be a bit mountainous.
Of course, the parts that are black,
there we can not add any pigment,
nothing will shine,
so we fill it with the same permanent marker,
I give it the last touches of decoration,
and that's it, here we have Rock Lee,
this is how it looks during the day.
You have to keep in mind that when putting the canvas
in a part of your house,
make sure it is close to a lamp,
since if the light that the lamp is emitting is close to the painting,
it will be absorbing a lot of light,
and when you turn it off, for example to go to sleep,
it will look much brighter than if it is away from this light source.
That is, the painting, for it to look so bright,
has to be exposed to a fairly intense light zone.
This, of course, if you want to achieve
this intense brightness that you are seeing right now.
Oh, and another thing,
this effect can last perfectly 10 years,
and only, I repeat, only,
feeding on sunlight or a normal lamp.
I loved the result,
tell me what you think in the comments,
I would love to read you.
