Welcome to Math with Mr. J.
In this video, I'm going to cover the
prime factorization of 125. So, we are
breaking 125 down into its prime
factors. The prime numbers that multiply
to equal 125. So, taking a look at 125,
we need to start breaking this down by
thinking of two factors, two numbers
that multiply to give us 125. Well, 5
and 25 are factors of 125. 5 * 25 = 125.
So, let's break this down into five
and 25. Now five is a prime number. So
we are done here. We can't break that
down any further. So let's circle five
to show that we have a prime number. 25
on the other hand we can break down. We
know that 5 * 5 = 25. 5 is a factor of
25. So let's break 25 down into five
and five. Now five again is a prime
number. So we are done here and here. We
can't break those down any further. And
that's the prime factorization of 125.
We don't have anything else that we can
break down any further. We have all
prime numbers. So let's write this out
as
125
equals and then we write out our prime
factors and we are multiplying them. So
we have 5 * 5 * 5. If we have the
correct prime numbers, they will
multiply to equal our original number.
So let's check. 5 * 5 is 25 * 5 is 125.
So we are correct here. So there you
have it. There's the prime factorization
of 125. I hope that helped. Thanks so
much for watching.
Until next time. Peace.
