Hello! How are you? Today I brought you a healthy recipe that you're going to love
to help you control diabetes, blood sugar, with easy, inexpensive ingredients. I'm sure you have
them at home. If you don't have them, you can find them at any supermarket, and best of all,
they're cheap and accessible. I'm going to show you how to add these ingredients to your daily
routine in a practical and very tasty way, so stay with me until the end. You won't want to miss it.
First of all, if you're new here, welcome! Take the opportunity to subscribe to the channel and
turn on notifications. I have a new video every day, a new recipe every day, you're going to
love them. Let me start by reminding you that the ingredients I'll be using here, the quantities,
and the nutritional information for this recipe, calorie count, carbohydrates, and everything else
will all be down below in the description. If you don't know what the description is, there's the
video title here and an arrow. Just click there and a tab will open with this information. I'll
also put some really cool playlists there with tips to help you manage diabetes and recipes for
diabetics, so I think you'll enjoy this information. Let's get started with our recipe then. First of
all, before we finish it, we need to do some prep work, a kind of infusion, so we can concentrate
all these great ingredients. So the first thing I have here is boiling water. I'm not sure if you
can see the steam coming off it, and we're going to make an infusion with some very interesting
ingredients. The first ingredient we're going to add here is lemon balm or Melissa, what do you
call it in your region? Both names refer to the same herb, the same plant, which has some very
interesting properties to help with diabetes control. I'm just going to add it to our water
here right now because lemon balm is beneficial and helps in two different ways. It helps your
body cells to absorb glucose more easily and efficiently, and it also prevents your body from
producing excess glucose in the bloodstream. So in that sense, it helps to regulate things.
And there are studies showing that when you drink lemon balm tea, it helps you have better control
over your blood sugar levels. In fact, some people who use lemon balm regularly are able
to see an improvement in their glycated hemoglobin, which is that blood test we do
to get a sort of x-ray of our blood sugar over the past few months. So it's a great addition to our
diet. Let's keep going here. There's another ingredient that a lot of people have at home
and don't realize it helps control diabetes. Let's spread this information. Share this video with
anyone who needs it because people just don't know. It's chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is very
helpful in two ways that are very interesting for diabetics. First, because studies show that
it helps lower blood glucose and it also helps control glycated hemoglobin once again. But it
also has another benefit, which I find really interesting, which is preventing complications
from diabetes. Diabetics are very prone to complications when their condition is not well
managed. Problems with the eyes, problems with the kidneys, circulatory problems in general.
And studies show that chamomile tea is very helpful in this regard, specifically in preventing
medium and long-term complications because it contains a large amount of antioxidants and is a
powerful anti-inflammatory. So it's an excellent addition besides giving a very pleasant flavor
to our teas. Later I'll talk more about the issue of sweetening, what you can use to sweeten,
whether you should sweeten or not. But I'll talk about that at the end. For now, let's keep talking
about our wonderful ingredients. Another wonderful ingredient to help control your blood sugar.
This one is already a classic, but it's always worth remembering and always worth explaining to
you why cinnamon is so interesting. I'm going to add it here so it can start infusing. You can use
a cinnamon stick like I'm using here, or you can use it in powder form as well. The effects of
cinnamon in relation to diabetes have been studied for a long time. In fact, it doesn't act specifically
on insulin itself, but rather on the other cells in our body, making them more sensitive to insulin.
Insulin is the hormone we produce in the pancreas. It's like a key. Imagine the cell as a room and
for glucose to enter, there's a door that someone needs to unlock. Insulin acts like the key that
opens this door so glucose can enter. And cinnamon helps to make the cells more sensitive, making it
easier to open this door, so to speak. So it really helps with making the cells more sensitive to
insulin, and in this way it also helps improve the glucose levels in our blood plasma.
Besides giving a very pleasant flavor, naturally it is sweet, it seasons, and it helps add an
interesting taste. So it's a great addition to our drink. Another ingredient that you probably
have at home, and if you don't, you can find it in any supermarket, is rosemary. And rosemary is also
a seasoning that we can add to some drinks, which will have a very interesting effect in helping to
control blood glucose or blood sugar. It actually helps to carry this glucose into the tissues,
especially into muscle tissue, so it helps to reduce the glucose that is circulating in your
plasma in your blood. And once again, it's very easy for us to add it to our diet and to this
drink even more so. Because it won't have a very strong taste, since we're using other herbs and
teas here that have an even stronger flavor, like chamomile and cinnamon. And just a reminder for
you all, I have some really great video playlists here on the channel. I have one about teas for your
health, not just for diabetes, but for other health conditions as well. I also have a really great
video talking about the best plants to consume for diabetes. I have a video about diabetes symptoms
and many other interesting videos. I'll leave these links below in the description for you.
Another interesting ingredient is oregano, which is also very cheap, very easy to find, I think,
all over the world and already well known. Oregano also helps with insulin sensitivity and
carbohydrate metabolism, so it's absolutely going to be a great addition to our recipe.
Let's wait for this to infuse and then we'll finish up. Let me just cover this up right here.
Let's let this infuse for about 10 more minutes or so and then we'll strain it and finish up so
you can see my suggestion on how to drink it, the best time to have it, all of that.
All right, 15 minutes have passed and I'll show you here that it's already infused,
the compounds have been transferred, so let's strain it now. A very interesting way for
diabetics to consume these infusions is by diluting them in more liquid. I have here a bit
of water just filtered and fresh and I'm going to strain it here because it's important for
diabetics to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Diabetics are usually more dehydrated
when their blood sugar is unbalanced. Sometimes diabetics feel very thirsty because they urinate
a lot, as their glucose levels are elevated. If we drink this beverage about 20 minutes before
lunch or before dinner as well, not only will it help with carbohydrate metabolism and insulin
sensitivity before those times when we're going to consume a large amount of carbohydrates,
but it's also a liquid. And since it's diluted, you can drink a glass or even a little more if
you want. And that way it will take up more space in your stomach, making you eat less.
Because many diabetics who are not well controlled due to having very high blood glucose and little
energy inside their cells, end up feeling really hungry. So it ends up being a very interesting
option. Not to mention that it gives the water some flavor. Many people complain that they can't
drink enough water throughout the day because it's bland and tasteless. So it ends up with a cinnamon
and chamomile flavor, which is very pleasant for you to stay hydrated throughout the day.
So there are many benefits to adding more water, even for your skin itself. Many diabetics have
drier skin precisely because they urinate a lot, so it ends up helping you in several different
ways. Before talking about the issue of sweetening, with what to sweeten or whether to sweeten at all,
you might be wondering why I didn't include green tea or hibiscus here, which are such classic
options to help control blood sugar and manage diabetes. They really are excellent and I have
videos about them here on the channel, but I wanted to bring a different recipe because I
already have other recipes, including drinks with them, to help control diabetes. And I'll leave
those recipes down below so you can mix things up if you want. Now regarding the question of whether
to sweeten or not, always remember that sugar and honey are not good options for people with
diabetes because they raise blood sugar levels, cause insulin spikes for those who produce insulin,
or else greatly increase blood sugar, really throwing things off balance. So it's not a good
idea. If it's absolutely essential for you, I even suggest that you make it, strain it, and drink it
as is, because since there's a lot of liquid, a lot of water, it ends up very diluted. It's really
just flavored water. So it doesn't necessarily have to be sweet. This is actually good for
So try to use it just like that, natural, because when we're looking for the beneficial properties
of a drink, adding anything else ends up being a bit unnecessary. But if it's essential for you,
if you just can't do without it, you can add a little stevia, erythritol, xylitol. I have videos
here on the channel talking about different types of sweeteners and even explaining more about this
issue of sugars. I'll leave them down below to help you as well. I went ahead and got things
ready here, grabbed a glass with ice, because I think this drink works really well when it's cold
and we end up drinking more of it because it's chilled. I'm gonna pour it into the glass here
so you can see the color, how it turns out, since you always like that. So let's do it.
Remember that when the drink is cold, it makes us, for us, want to drink more. And the ice itself,
as it melts, will dilute it further. So that's even better. Always remember that there are no
miracles. So to help control diabetes, it's important that you take the medication your
doctor prescribed correctly. Always remember to eat healthily. I have lots of tips here on the
channel. Because tea is not a miracle cure, you have to help the tea help you. Let me know down
below if you're going to drink it hot or cold. I'd love to see your comment. Like the video,
because that really helps me out. Share it with someone who will enjoy it, someone who needs it.
Let's work together to grow this chain of kindness, because that's what I want here
with the channel. See you next time. Bye. And I'm going to have a little, because it's so delicious.
