Discipline was my weakness before,
so now I'm not able to do some things I love,
like playing the guitar, for example.
But I've made a lot of progress.
I can say that it is through discipline that I could wake up at 5am today to edit this video.
Actually, what I want to do now is curl up in bed,
but this longing is behind what needs to be done for my purposes.
Do immediately what you set out for the day,
make a schedule for a day,
and try to do it even if it is the smallest thing.
Since we can't do the smallest things, how can we do the bigger things?
If you find it difficult to practice discipline,
the good news is that it can be cultivated.
Discipline means acting on what you have determined is best,
doesn't matter how you feel at the time.
Therefore, the first characteristic of discipline is self-awareness.
You need to determine which behavior will best represent your goals and values.
This process requires you to learn and analyze yourself.
And it works best when you put those analyzes on notebook clearly.
I recommend taking the time to write down your goals, dreams, and ambitions.
Better yet, if possible, write a personal mission statement.
I've found that writing down that mission has helped me better understand who I am,
what my purpose is, and what values I uphold.
Discipline depends on conscious awareness of what you are doing and what you are not doing.
Try to think about it.
If you are not aware that your behavior is undisciplined,
how will you know that you need to act differently?
As you begin to practice discipline,
sometimes you will catch yourself doing undisciplined behavior,
for example, biting your nails, avoiding exercise, eating cookies,
constantly checking your mailbox, or surfing social networks.
It takes time to build discipline.
And the key here is that you have to be aware of your undisciplined behavior.
Gradually, this realization will come sooner,
which means that instead of catch yourself doing the undisciplined behavior,
you will be aware of it before you commit the behavior.
This gives you the opportunity to make decisions that are more suited to your values and goals.
Just writing down your goals and values is not enough.
You must have the determination to do them.
Otherwise, when the alarm clock goes off at 5 am,
you will freely set the time 5 more minutes.
Or when the initial excitement with a project fades,
you will struggle to bring it to completion milestone.
If you're having a hard time implementing your determination,
start by making a conscious decision that you'll pursue what you say you'll do,
both time and how to do it.
Then I recommend building a method system to track the progress of these commits.
That's why people still say, what can be measured can be progressed.
Discipline is extremely difficult.
Emotions, desires, and passions can be powerful forces you must face.
Therefore, discipline depends very much on courage.
Don't pretend that doing something is easy for you
when in reality it is a very difficult and or strenuous job.
Instead, build the courage to face this hardship and difficulty.
As you accumulate small victories of your own,
your confidence will grow,
and the courage that supports discipline will come more naturally to you.
Have you ever wondered why entrepreneurs in the world achieve such high positions and successful?
Because they are rightly aware of discipline,
their living habit is discipline.
Discipline isn't always about doing things according to a rigid and set pattern without creativity.
Discipline is a powerful catalyst to help you have the spirit to accomplish your goals.
If there is a goal but no action, success is a faraway thing.
When you're in a difficult situation, talk to yourself,
encourage yourself, and reassure yourself.
Monologues will be behaviors that have the ability to remind you of your goals,
build courage, strength and determination,
and make you maintain awareness of the task at present.
Whenever you feel your discipline tested,
remember this quote,
the price of discipline is always less than the pain of regret.
Impress this quote on your mind,
and recall it every time you find yourself being challenged.
It can change your life.
Success is based on your own efforts.
Never give up.
