this video I'm going to cover how long
it takes to count to 1 million now
hypothetically speaking we are going to
say that one number is being counted per
second now this would be extremely
difficult if not impossible especially
when counting those six digit numbers
for example
583
222
583
223 so you can see how difficult that
would be but to keep everything as
consistent as possible as far as working
through this we will say that one number
is being counted every second that means
that this will take one million seconds
now if we take those seconds and divide
by 60
we get this two minutes that gives us 16
666
and 67 hundredths now that decimal was
rounded to the hundredths place now we
can take those minutes and I'm going to
use the original decimal not the rounded
decimal and divide by 60
to get this two hours that gives us
277
and 78 hundredths and that was rounded
to the hundredths place as well now we
can take those hours and divide by 24 to
get this two days now I'm going to use
the original decimal and divide by 24
not the rounded decimal so again we are
going to divide by 24. that gives us 11
and 57 hundredths and that decimal was
also rounded to the hundredths place
that means it takes a little over 11 and
a half days to count to one million and
again that's one number per second with
absolutely no breaks now let's take a
look at this in a different form so it's
not going to be in decimal form we're
going to take a look at the exact amount
of days hours minutes and seconds
here is all of the math worked out by
hand and I know it's pretty
disappointing that I went through all of
this long division without you but for
the sake of time I worked everything out
beforehand doing it this way allows us
to get the exact seconds minutes hours
and days this would take so I started by
dividing one million seconds by 60 to
get this
two minutes we had 40 seconds left over
then I took the minutes
and divided by 60 to get this 2 hours
46 minutes were left over then I took
those hours and divided them by 24 to
get this two days
13 hours were left over that gives us 11
days
13 hours
46 minutes and 40 seconds to count to 1
million when one number is being counted
per second so there you have it there's
how long it takes to come to 1 million
and again that's with zero breaks and
Counting one number per second and this
is still a crazy amount of time so it
puts into perspective how large 1
million really is I hope that helped
thanks so much for watching until next
time peace
