Hey everybody, welcome back to another YouTube video.
Today we are going on a very specific adventure.
We're gonna go meet up with some people who are visiting from overseas.
We're gonna just go skate around the city, try to get a little funky.
We're here with special guests from England and we want to show them around this
city to a whole bunch of funky spots because that's your kind of skating, you would say?
I don't know. Okay, cool. For the video it is at least.
Who should we ask to tag along to help us?
This guy has been doing it for a while and probably knows all the good spots to go to, right?
I mean, do I want to share them?
We're gonna start off here at the Chelsea skate park and then we're going to make our way
elsewhere and just kind of bop around.
This park's kind of funky. I mean, the bowl is really sick.
It's one of the bigger bowls in New York and the street course is kind of cool.
It's a little weird because the tallest part of the park is in the middle
which creates like a giant blind spot everywhere.
So that's not good.
If the park's empty and it's not crazy with kids then it's fairly safe and fun because it's a fast park.
Yeah bro, they kind of scare me.
They kind of scare me.
I'm an anti-rocker skater so grinding on these is sketchy.
I'm happy you decided not to kill anyone today.
Yeah.
I thought it was sick.
Thank you.
It's so cute.
This little kid has his school bag on.
He won't take it off.
It's like everyone's love language.
All right, so we just completed our warm-up, right?
I'm done. What are you talking about?
We have like another like 18 miles to skate.
We're gonna go to some funky spots on Canal Street
and we're gonna go to 7th Avenue and skate down.
It should be lovely.
It'll be lovely, right?
Yes.
We're on 7th Avenue and 22nd Street and we're gonna go downtown.
Go ahead.
It's all you.
Go, go, go.
I remember in like all the early skate videos, even the New York scene,
like that seems to be like the core of like the street skating.
Yeah.
So coming here to somewhere like this, it's amazing.
Yeah.
And that was all John is behind the camera right now.
Me and Amber have been like skating through the city.
I keep saying to him like,
oh, there's a spot from like back in the day, like really early spots.
And yeah, it's cool to see.
Canal Street.
Oh, I see where you're going.
When did you start skating, really?
Like, yeah, about a year ago.
So she's, yeah, she's not been doing it long,
but I've kind of chucked her in at the deep end.
I'm more cautious, I think, aren't I?
I'd be like, I don't know if you should do this.
And she's like, I got that.
Then you just do it.
So yeah, it's funny.
Just send it.
You want to check out this spot over here?
Yeah.
Oh, this one here.
I don't know what you're going to do here.
Let's go over there.
Is it normally like a water fountain?
Yeah.
These actually like roll right.
Is it your kind of spot or what?
Yeah. I mean, like normally we just try and skate everything.
But we wouldn't have anything like this in our hometown.
Yeah. Sometimes it takes a minute to figure out.
That's grippy.
Oh, ----.
All right, John, what are you going to do?
Oh, come on, John.
Try something.
Oh, it's a fakie.
I was not expecting that.
Were you expecting that?
We got the Empire State building right behind your head.
What?
Yeah, it's right there.
That's the what?
Empire State Building.
Yeah, let's go do your trick.
You don't hear that?
Do your trick.
One world trade.
Oh, no.
Hell yeah.
That was a slap at that one.
New York slap.
I cannot afford a lawsuit, man.
I got holiday insurance. We're good.
Oh, you do?
Yeah.
There we go.
Oh, no.
All right, guys.
Don't hesitate.
It's just like so you're doing like the stall on purpose.
Yeah.
So hit the stall, but don't lose your momentum.
So what's wrong with that one?
I did not like the P-Star slide.
Let's fix that.
Fixed it.
Damn, who's filming this?
So good.
We done.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're right.
It's not that sweet, but it's good, though.
Who says New York ain't wild?
We got figs in the wild.
Yep.
Give it like 20 minutes.
I'm going to be tripping.
That's good.
It's like really fresh.
Yeah, perfect.
I mean, yeah, it's not super sweet yet, but it's actually really good.
That's cool.
I got to hang out with John.
Wild figs.
It's nice.
Yeah, that's a great find.
Okay, so we're switching over to a 360 camera because no one wants to film.
So we've finished up at that kind of funky spot a little bit,
and it was a good time.
Everyone had fun, right?
Did everyone have fun?
Yeah, man, that was good.
Yeah, there we go.
Yeah.
All of these move, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, if it's white, it moves.
Knowing my luck, I'll kick one.
It'll be rock solid.
I got it.
Go ahead.
I'll catch up.
Here's the mic.
What's up?
Nah, they got to stop now.
Ari said he's never been here, which I'm surprised because he's lived in New York for a long time,
but this is an old school handrail.
See if Ari will do it.
Oh, ----.
Is this the one with the drop?
Yeah.
The people have done the outside one, right?
Yeah, a few people.
I don't know if anyone's landed the gap into the tennis court.
A few people have tried.
It's pretty ******* high.
Yeah, it's pretty nuts.
And the thing is the floor is soft, you know, it's a tennis court.
Yeah, so it's not like super hard.
As far as I know, not that many more people have done the actual kink rail.
20 people, maybe.
I mean, it's funky because it's aluminum.
Wait, how do you guys say it?
Aluminum?
Aluminum, yeah.
Aluminum.
So it kind of slides funky.
Yeah.
So I actually got lucky.
I was the first one to ever do this rail.
Yeah, sick.
Yeah, yeah, it's pretty heavy.
Yeah, I think it's 20 flat 20.
I don't remember.
Something like that.
That building there didn't exist back in the day and there was a skate contest in this lot
by Rollerblade and Chris Edwards came out to like judge it and like whatever.
No one had ever done this rail.
So we come across the street.
It was like 1996, maybe.
No, 95.
Maybe 95.
I don't even know.
He was like, yo, $350 for anyone that could do this.
So like four of us were actually really trying it.
Yeah, yeah.
Like it could have been any one of us.
Like a few came close and I got lucky.
I did it first.
Amazing.
**** yeah, man.
350 bucks, like I've never seen that much money in my life.
But then it kind of opened the floodgates.
Like people started doing it.
Yeah.
I think my favorite trick on this was Farmer.
He 360 sold it.
I saw a clip recently of Austin.
He like sold it, sold it.
Yeah.
That was pretty sick.
What I remember, and I might be wrong, but the first person I could think of that did
the white rail off the end was Alex Nunez.
Yeah, and that's not aluminum.
That's like painted metal.
That's fast.
But it's kind of sick too that only blitters have ever done this.
Like no biker's ever done it and no skateboarder for sure has never done this.
I mean, not that I know of.
Maybe someone in the comments can say if someone else has done this.
I don't think so.
What's going on with that one?
We have to go around.
Sorry guys.
Sorry.
All right, so we're in New York, downtown by the World Trade Center.
I'll show you a little bit.
Deep downtown, tall buildings, right?
And yeah, there's a old school spot right here.
It's fun, a little bonk.
See what the boys got.
Hey, funky spots, baby.
It looked smaller in pictures.
We need to clean our lens here, buddy.
You guys can't hear, Ari's making excuses.
Your body was there.
Your body was in the right.
Yeah.
There we go.
Good old floor sludge.
There you go.
Let's tie it in the skates.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Little lie down.
I never do this one.
I'm sleeping here.
Hey, lazy coming.
Hey.
Yes, Ari.
Yeah.
Oh, sick.
It's easier if I...
You do one back to back.
Oh, let's go.
Gold medal run, doubles.
Oh, no.
Oh, my God.
What happened there?
Finger got wedged.
All right, first go.
First go, yeah.
First go.
More pressure, this insane chemistry, man.
Yeah, I can tell.
All right, guys.
Thank you so much for participating in another phenomenal YouTube video.
Thank you so much to Sy for coming out.
Thank you so much to John Ortiz for coming out.
Is there anything you want to say to people who still remember you
and want to see more of you on the channel?
Oh, well, I mean, if you're even alive still and you remember me, applaud.
Give yourself a high five.
Sky's a legend.
Absolute legend.
No, but it's cool to keep skating.
You know, I'm about to be 45 in a couple of weeks and 32 years deep.
Still hanging.
I've tried to quit so many times.
It doesn't work.
So, yeah, just keep skating.
Have fun.
That's it.
Hamburger, thank you for participating.
I'll talk forward.
No worries.
Thank you.
