Join me for a complete tour of Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort at Walt Disney World. This beautiful resort is located on Bay Lake, very close to the Magic Kingdom. I was lucky to have a beautiful day to record this footage! I hope you enjoy it! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!
Hi, this is Josh with ResortTV1. Today we're taking you on a full tour of Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Resort. We hope you enjoy the video and as we drive up here you can already see how impressive
the main building is. It's just an awe-inspiring work of art really. The resort itself is modeled
after the National Parks lodges that were built around the turn of the century and it's an
excellent example of craftsman architecture. As a kid coming here I loved looking at this resort
because it reminded me of my Lincoln Log set and if you don't know what Lincoln Logs are,
google it because they're really cool, but this whole resort reminds me of that
type of a log cabin feel. And here's the bus stop. So this is what I was talking about when I said
that the resort looks like a set of Lincoln Logs. It's really cool and it's got that great log cabin
style. And here's the front of the resort with the car unloading area as well as the main building
to the resort itself. And even underneath of the car unloading area the architecture is just really
impressive. There's a lot of detail that went into this and from the moment you walk in you're
sure that this is a deluxe resort and that you're in for a premium experience. Here's one of the
floor mats as you enter with the Wilderness Lodge logo and still with the log cabin theme even inside
the foyer there. And now as we look up into the main lobby we'll see just how beautiful and
impressive this building is. This to me besides the Grand Floridian is Disney's most impressive
hotel lobby. It's just absolutely stunning and every time I walk in here even though I've been
in here several times my mouth just drops to the floor because it's just such an awe-inspiring space.
And right off of the main lobby is the Whispering Canyon Cafe which we'll talk about here in just a
minute, but right now let's just soak in this amazing view. And you can see the totem poles
on the side as well as the lights that are actually shaped like teepees. These little details are just
what makes this resort so special and there's a lot of natural light coming in through the back
windows as well. So this is the check-in area as well as several nice little sitting areas even
though this room is so gigantic they've got it arranged into little sitting areas where people
can relax and just enjoy their time in this amazing space. And here's a look back at the
main entrance where we just came in and I love all the different balconies and bridges that
lead from one part of the resort to the next. And everything from the stones on the walls to the
wood to the flooring everything's just very harmonious to give you that authentic craftsman
feel or log cabin or national park lodge whatever you want to say all those styles really fit well
here. Here's another angle of this awe-inspiring lobby and they've got Native American headdresses
here on either side of the entrance to the Whispering Canyon Cafe. And the Whispering Canyon
Cafe, the character kind of betrays its name. It's actually the opposite of Whispering
because the servers are told to be loud and really boisterous and all kinds of things and
it's a lot of fun. It's the kind of restaurant where if you ask for a bottle of ketchup you
might get 20 bottles of ketchup so you can read here a little bit about it. And by the way if you
have a favorite story about the Whispering Canyon Cafe about your experience here please make sure
you share it in the comment section because we'd love to read about it. It's such a fun restaurant to eat at.
And again I'll just let you enjoy the view here. And here's a really cool fireplace area in the
back corner of the main lobby. And the stonework and the cast iron are just really incredible and
impressive here. And it's really great in the winter because it actually does get a little
bit chilly in Florida so you come in here and you can warm up by the fire. Even if it's hot it's
still kind of cozy to watch the fire crackle there. Of course it's not a real wood fire but still
it's a lot of fun. And here's some minerals and fossils of the Grand Canyon. Pretty neat little
learning tool there. As well as one of those hand-operated railway cars. Not exactly sure the
name of that but if you know you can post in the comments below. I always remember seeing these
kind of vehicles on cartoons and it was a lot of fun but pretty cool to see it here even with some
a little bit of track right below it. And by the way this is the other end of the Whispering Canyon
cafe. It goes all the way down here. And then back there is the Roaring Fork food court area and
we'll visit that later. And here's another look at this impressive lobby. I just can't get enough
of it so enjoy. And one of my favorite parts of this lobby is that the Copper Creek looks like
it originates here inside the lobby. There's a bridge over it that's very peaceful and the sitting
area in front of it. And it goes all the way outside and runs all the way down to the pool
and we'll check that out as we go through the video. But what a cool idea for Disney's Imagineers
to come up with to do this where the source looks like it's bubbling right here inside the building
and then there's a bridge over it and then heading all the way outside. I was just mesmerized by this
as a kid because it's just something you don't see a lot. So these are the little touches that
make Disney Resort so special in my mind. And you can see how the stream runs outside and all the
way down and like I said it goes all the way to the pool and we'll check that out in just a few
minutes. And this is a great place to sit. Of course you can sit by the fire on the other side
of the lobby but this is a nice place to sit with the babbling brook there. Here shows you some
directional signs for where you can go in the resort but before we do that let's take a look
at the main shop here at the Wilderness Lodge. And I love the totem pole here with Mickey, Goofy,
Donald and a bear right below. And they even sell replicas of this inside the shop that we'll look at.
So the shop's called Wilderness Lodge Mercantile and of course it was established in 1994 when the
resort was opened. So let's take a look around. The theming of the store is very similar to the
theming of the rest of the resort and so it's very harmonious. And I love the Wilderness Lodge
merchandise and there's the totem pole that I talked to you about with the Disney characters
on it. And there's more Wilderness Lodge specific merchandise. It's always nice to see that at
because this is the type of merchandise you can't really get anywhere else. And of course throughout
the shop you've got the Lincoln Log look where everything looks like a log cabin and that's a
lot of fun as well. Here's even more Wilderness Lodge specific merchandise. And here's a shirt
with a lot of different resorts on it and I think I've seen that around the rest of Walt Disney
World as well. Here's several of the Disney character totem poles here and also a picture
frame that features that. And I love this sign. Of course this isn't just a Wilderness Lodge sign
but it comes from the Magic Kingdom. I really want that sign. I'm gonna have to get that someday.
And of course there's a great picture of the Walt Disney World railroad there with
Mickey and Donald. Even shirts that feature the totem.
And here are some shirts for the new Copper Creek cabins that are new to the Vacation Club
at the Wilderness Lodge and we'll show those in just a bit. There's even a fireplace in the store
here which is nice. I love the timbers along the ceiling here that just again adds to the
ambiance of the store. It's quite a large store too. It's kind of an L shape and it goes a lot
further back than what you might think. So there's quite a bit of food back here as well as different
mugs and kitchen wares and all kinds of stuff. So here's some food and snacks. Of course all the
great healthy stuff that you can enjoy if you're here at the Wilderness Lodge and you get the
munchies. And they've got several different items in the coolers you can get as well.
And now we're back out of the store and here's a walkway that goes outside towards the Vacation
Club Villa as part of the resort. Before we go out there let's take a look at some of the display
windows next to the shop. I love the Wilderness Lodge pillow there. That's pretty great. And
there's also a side entrance in this same hallway to the store. And now we're outside
and there's this great covered walkway that leads down to the buses as well as to the Vacation Club
Villas. But before we do that there's also an arcade here. And here's a few more display windows
before we go into the arcade. I love the name of this arcade. Buttons and Bills Game Arcade.
So here we are inside of the arcade and it's not a huge arcade but they've got a decent amount
of games here and a couple different spaces in this particular game room. The air hockey table
is a nice touch. But a lot of the arcades are being removed from resorts so it's good that
they at least have one here. They've even got this little back room here that's kind of off by itself
but has a few more games. Now we're going to head down to the Boulder Ridge Villas.
And of course these are part of the Disney Vacation Club. And right away when you look at
this building you can see that the theming is different because they're using wood siding as
opposed to logs for the exterior. So it still fits really well but it's different on purpose.
So let's go down this really nice covered walkway and we'll go in the building here in just a second
but first let's check out this beautiful wilderness next to the building itself and it gives
the Wilderness Lodge more credibility to its name here. And now let's go inside and they've got more
of the log cabin look on the inside but like I said the outside definitely is different and even
the colors on the outside are different. This lobby is very impressive. Of course it's much
smaller than the other one but it still goes up quite a ways and has a very impressive roof line
there with the timbers and the chandelier. And there's an exercise or health club that you can go
to. And this lobby has many cozy little sitting areas. And I noticed while I was here that it's
rarely ever busy so it's a great place to relax and get some peace and quiet if you want just some
time away from the parks or the hustle and bustle of the rest of the hotel. And there are some great
paintings on the walls here. Each one of these little areas look like they could be their own
living room. So and here's a map of the resort including not just the Boulder Ridge Villas but
also the Wilderness Lodge Inn and the Copper Creek Cabins. And we'll take a little bit closer look at
some of the paintings I was talking about. They're really nice and they definitely portray the
wilderness or outdoors theme that this resort is trying to portray. Many of you know the Carolwood
Pacific Railroad was actually once in Walt Disney's backyard and there's some artifacts from that here
in these lounges. So this is something kind of a hidden gem that you'd miss if you weren't really
looking for it. So if you're ever in the Boulder Ridge Villas you'll definitely have to take a look
at these particular historical artifacts if you're a Walt Disney history buff like I am.
And this is a very cozy sitting area here. And here are some of these artifacts I'm talking
about. These are, I believe, some actual cars from the Carolwood Pacific Railroad or at least replicas
of the cars from the railroad. Now you can see a little information about it. There's another model
of some of the cars from the Carolwood Pacific Railway. And this is a beautiful painting. Of
course you can see Walt himself but the little boy is Walt's memory of himself as a boy. And then
you can see the Carolwood Pacific Railroad cars below. Now we'll go down towards the Roaring Fork
food court as well as the pool. Here's a vacation club sales area. And also this is the entrance to
the Artist Point restaurant. Unfortunately it wasn't open at this time when I was filming so
I couldn't get up there to get any footage but it's a great place to eat if you've never been
there before. I highly recommend trying it. And I love this long hallway that leads down to the
Roaring Fork. There's a great outdoor sitting area there where you can take your food that you get
inside. And here are some more tables. And here's the area where you get your food. It's not a huge
place but they do have several different options and so if you're in the mood for something quick
as opposed to the table service restaurants you can definitely get something here.
And it's nice that even the deluxe resorts have these counter service restaurants because not
everyone wants a heavy lunch or even a heavy dinner so you have the option. So here's the
indoor eating area and it's not very big so I think that's why they have the outdoor eating
areas as well. So now we're behind the main lobby and here's the Copper Creek where it runs outside
of the building that we showed you earlier. So let's follow the Copper Creek all the way down
the pool and we'll enjoy this beautiful scenery as we do. This resort is so huge it could be a
vacation in and of itself except for that it's by the amazing Magic Kingdom. And here's a nice
patio area where you can sit and just enjoy this awe-inspiring view. The building here at the end
part of the Wilderness Lodge is so impressive and it kind of envelops this wilderness area
that's just so peaceful. And even the flowers and the landscaping just add to the peacefulness of
this area. It's a great walk and definitely if you stay here you shouldn't miss this but this is
actually worth a trip just to see. So at the end of the sidewalk you have two different choices.
If you go left you go down the stairs and through the rock formation to the Copper Creek pool
and if you go right you go to the overlook which has a great view of the rest of the Copper Creek
as well as the pool. So here's the sign that marks the top of the Copper Creek Falls and a bridge
that goes over the Copper Creek itself. And remember the Copper Creek originates inside of the main
lobby of the resort. And there you can see the pool way down there and you can't really see the
falls as well from here but we'll get another angle of that later. But I do want to take just a second
to look at the impressive resort buildings here. And those red framed windows are part of the
Artist Point restaurant so there's a great view from there. And now we're going to head back to
the left at that fork in the sidewalk we talked about earlier and you go down through this rock
formation which is really cool and we'll end up down at the pool. So here's a lot better view of
the Copper Creek Falls and this is really impressive especially with the resort buildings in the
backdrop. I love how clear the water is and of course now you can see the Copper Creek running
from the falls all the way down into the pool. And just another look at these impressive buildings
from a different angle. And there's the overlook that we were just standing on to get a view of
the pool from above. The view from these balcony rooms has to be great. And there is a small water
slide at this pool as well not as large as some of the other water slides but still pretty fun.
And you can see a kids play area over there we'll take a look at that here in just a minute.
But to me this is one of the most beautiful pools to swim in just because of the buildings
that surround it. And here's the rest of the Copper Creek that runs from the pool all the way
down to Bay Lake and you can see a construction wall there so there's a little bit of refurbishment
going on. And here's a little bit more Copper Creek running again all the way down to Bay Lake.
And here's a really nice boardwalk that runs next to the geyser and the geyser goes off periodically
and it's a lot of fun if you should catch it when it happens to go off.
And here's a kids play area next to the pool a lot of fun with the big bucket at the top
that drenches everybody when it dumps. And here's another one of the boardwalks
and these boardwalks really add to the wilderness ambiance of the resort in my opinion.
And here's the Magic Kingdom boat launch dock so you can take a boat from here to either the
Magic Kingdom or to Fort Wilderness. And this isn't the Seven Seas Lagoon here this is Bay Lake.
The Wilderness Lodge sits on Bay Lake which of course is connected by water bridge to the Seven
Seas Lagoon. Bay Lake is a natural lake whereas Seven Seas Lagoon is a man-made lake. And again
just beautiful wilderness out here really lives up to the name of the resort. Just such a relaxing
place to visit. And now we'll take a look at the Geyser Point Bar and Grill and of course it's
named that because it sits close to the geyser and has a great view of that and Bay Lake. And it's not
a full building it's more of a pavilion so you get the great breeze blowing in from the sides.
And here's the menu it's mostly burgers, sandwiches, salads, and things like that.
And there you can see that view I was talking about it's a really relaxing place to eat.
There are a lot of different tables for families as well as
the bar there and just some couch areas where you can just sit and relax and enjoy the view.
And of course they've got the WDW Today channel playing which is so popular on our
Channel Resort TV one here so. There's even a patio right next to the restaurant.
And here's a small recreation area that's attached to the Geyser Point Bar and Grill that has some
ping pong tables as well as a foosball table. And now let's take a look at the boat rental area here
at Wilderness Lodge. You can rent pontoon boats as well as the little water mouse boats to drive
all around Bay Lake as well as the Seven Seas Lagoon. There you can see one of the resort boats
heading over to what I presume to be Fort Wilderness and you can also see Bay Lake Tower across the
water there. And they also have a bike rental area here across from the boat rental area.
And what's neat is the mock train tracks that make up the sidewalk there as well as the water
tower that looks like it might fill a steam locomotive. And here are the backsides to some
of the Copper Creek Cabins. And they look right out onto Bay Lake and you can see it's a very
pleasant peaceful setting. In fact I'd love to stay at one of these at some point. They all have
a screened-in porch area as well as a picnic table in the back. Here's another look at these great
sidewalks. And Reunion Station is a place for vacation club members to go and just relax and
have gatherings. And here's the boat rental desk. There's another look at that water tower or a mock
water tower that looks like it may be used to fill steam locomotives. And this is the Boulder Ridge
area so you see the boulders inside of the train cars to make up the theming of the area. That's
really nice. And this is Boulder Ridge Pool which of course is called Boulder Ridge Cove.
Now we'll look at the Cascade Cabins which are part of the Copper Creek Cabins that I mentioned
earlier. And there are a couple different areas to these Copper Creek Cabins but this is one and
we'll take a look. They're all fairly similar but each has its own little sidewalk and own entry
area and they're all very well themed and look like a lot of fun. And here's another look at
the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool. And there's a crane type object that I presume would have been used to
lift boulders. At least that's the idea behind the theming here but it's really neat anyway.
And it's kind of a special surprise here at the end of the video. I did manage to get a video
of the geyser going off so I'll show you a couple different angles of it but it's a lot of fun to
watch. And here's an even better angle of it and you can see it shoots up pretty high and it goes
on for a long time. And here's another angle of the geyser as it starts to fizzle out at the end
of its eruption. Well that's all we have for today from Wilderness Lodge. We hope you enjoyed the
video. Please leave a comment and let us know what you think. And as always, have a great big beautiful
