You know, after taking their course, um, I was really surprised on how quick I
learned due to the teachers, Oscar and Calvin.
So they were really great.
And, um, yeah, they really prepared me for my state exam.
What's up guys.
How's everybody doing?
Hope you guys are doing fantastic.
Hey, welcome.
And thank you for joining in on this video.
So in this video, I'm going to show you guys a little bit about what
our test prep course is all about.
We put a lot of time and effort into this course because we want to make sure that
all our students that take our courses end up passing it just like Ben said in
the beginning of the video, we make sure that we help you guys get to your goal,
which is to become a smog technician.
Go ahead and take the next couple of minutes, look over these videos.
And if this information makes sense to you, go ahead and click on the link below
to make sure that you guys get in on it now and make sure that you guys pass
your state exam on the first try.
Let's go ahead and get started guys.
What is a directed vehicle?
So directed vehicle would be a vehicle that falls into a category that has a
higher likelihood of failing its next inspection.
So the profile is a statistical model used to identify vehicles more likely than
others to fail a smog check inspection.
The other part of the directed vehicles would be a 2% random sample for
program evaluation purposes, 2% of the vehicles in the enhanced areas are
randomly selected for certification at a smog at a star smog check station.
Let's take a look at the estimate.
When is an estimate required?
An estimate is required for an automotive repair dealer to perform
repairs to a mortar vehicle.
So when the vehicle comes in, the first thing you should always
do is write up an estimate.
Why?
Because that's a contract between you and the customer and the customer is giving
you the authorization to perform whatever it is on that estimate.
If not, you shouldn't be taking possession of that specific vehicle.
In what two circumstances is an ARD not required to give an estimate?
An estimate is not required for an ARD to perform any of the
preventive maintenance services defined in business and profession
code 9880.1J if the customer authorizes the services and
either of the following occur.
The service is performed free of charge.
The total price for parts and labor necessary to perform the service is
displayed in a conspicuous manner or made available to and
acknowledged by the customer.
So if you're going to do the repair for free, or if you are a facility that
offers, um, services at a listed price, so that would mean that you have a
price board listed and no matter what vehicle comes in, that's what you're
charging for that specific repair.
You could do it at, you could do it, um, without having to itemize
it on an actual estimate.
FAR 97 would be modified.
Why modified?
Well, you bypassed the valve.
So you reconfigured it and it didn't happen by itself.
So it's not a defect.
It's not missing.
It's still there.
You just went around it.
So it's modified and missing, modified and disconnected on the dad would be tampered.
Number six, an air injection system is present, but the belt is missing.
There are no signs of tampering.
How should this be entered into the bar 97 and that OIS?
So if you have a belt driven air injection pump, that pump is not electronic.
It's mechanical.
The only way that that pump turns on is when there's a belt rotation.
So that would be the on and off switch for that particular pump.
So if it was electronic, it would have an electrical connector and then it would
be electronically turned on or turned off.
So if the belt is missing, this would be considered.
So under the bar 97, this would be disconnected because you're missing the
belt and the belt is what controls the air pump under the dad missing, modified
and disconnected all fall under tampered, tampered on the dad.
So when we're talking about the dad, remember the dad always has tampered
as missing, modified and disconnected to an, a hybrid vehicle.
The oxygen sensor has been removed.
A plug inserted into the oxygen sensor hole.
How should the technician proceed with the inspection?
So we're talking about a hybrid, obviously, like I said before, when we're
talking about 98 and newer diesels, 2000 and newer vehicles and 2000 and newer
hybrids, we know particularly that this vehicle is going to be a smog on the dad.
Being that it's on the dad, all I S and the oxygen sensor was removed and
something was inserted in its place.
That would mean that it's been modified because it's on the dad.
We're going to go tampered.
So what's our, going to be our best answered here.
It's going to be tampered, missing, modified and disconnected on
the dad fall under tampered.
It's been a great experience, honestly, uh, for first time, uh, kind
of graduating from something.
Uh, I really appreciate the effort they put to teach me, man.
Oh man.
