What's up, everyone! In today's video, we do a day in the life with the iPhone Air while visiting the incredible island of Hawaii. We test the dual fusion camera, test the battery to see if it could last a full day and it's perfromance while during this travel day. l
I woke up here in Hawaii at 8:00 a.m.
with the iPhone Air in space black, and
the first thing I noticed was the
battery. I started the day a few
percentage points under 100% at 96%
because I forgot to charge it last night
and only plugged it in a few hours ago.
Right away, I'm greeted by this insanely
thin, super lightweight iPhone Air, the
thinnest iPhone ever. It's honestly hard
to explain until you hold it. feels like
I'm holding air or nothing at all. As
cliche as that sounds, the display is
gorgeous, too. A 6.5 inch 120 Hz retina
XDR panel with up to 3000 nits of peak
brightness. And even this morning, it's
noticeably bright as I just switched
from the iPhone 17 Pro Max to the Air.
However, the real test will be later
today. My name is Jossi. This is my
first time visiting Hawaii.
Specifically, we're in Maui for the day.
And here is my day in the life with the
iPhone Air. After brushing my teeth, I
started one of my favorite routines that
I've done since I landed in Maui nearly
a week ago. Simply make some coffee with
the curig, head to the patio to get some
fresh air, and just stare at this
amazing view of my hotel room. Since I
just switched from the 17 Pro Max, I
didn't have the high coffee app that I
like to use to track my caffeine intake,
which is especially needed this trip
since I've been so jetlagged, giving me
an excuse to drink three cups of coffee
a day, which is way too much. I didn't
know how many milligs of caffeine one
cura cup has. So I took a picture and
asked Chad GBT. I got a vague range
between 75 millig to about 150 millig.
So I just met in the middle and logged
125 mg. As I mentioned earlier, this is
the thinnest iPhone ever. And with a
phone this thin, you can't help but
wonder, did Apple sacrifice battery
life, performance, or even the camera
just to make it this slim? It only has
one dual fusion camera, so there are
definitely some trade-offs to test. And
since I'm here in Hawaii, it feels like
the perfect place to see if the iPhone
Air can keep up. From shooting travel
photos to lasting throughout long days
when you really depend on your phone. I
snapped some pictures in a few videos to
test the camera's quality and zoom. I
personally think the pictures at 1 and
2x look great this morning and they felt
similar as a pro user, but the glaring
downside was not necessarily the 2x the
integrated telephoto that gives you
optical quality zoom. But when I punched
in beyond 2x, I could notice some
quality drop off when zooming into this
bird up to 6x from my patio. Went back
inside to do a quick speaker test.
However, being in such a quiet room, I
couldn't detect any significant
reduction in sound quality or volume.

I can't emphasize enough how thin and
light this device is. Despite some
compromises, when you hold it and feel
how noticeably thinner it is compared to
the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it's easy to
understand why average consumers would
choose this device. If the phone does
get hot, you'll primarily feel the heat
at the top near the plateau. Since it's
6.5 in long, you're likely holding the
bottom half anyways. Any tendency to
heat up more frequently might not even
be noticeable.
Heat. Heat.
[Music]
How you liking it?
I like it a lot. This thing's great.
What are your thoughts?
Yeah, it's good for a normal consumer.
I spent the morning catching up with
friends, grabbing coffee, and finally
getting the Isaibo I've been craving all
week. Super grateful to be here in
Hawaii, hanging with fellow creators,
talking shop and the latest tech, but
also just catching up on life. There's
something about mornings in this hotel
that gives me this sense of newness and
adventure. Hawaii is unlike anywhere
I've ever been. The way they care for
their land and the wildlife really
stands out. From this insane mountain
and ocean views to parrots, penguins,
and all these birds right on the
property, it really does feel like a
magical place.
Heat. Heat.
[Music]
Heat.
Heat.
And after absolutely smashing that
Hawaiian latte and acai, I hit the gym,
knocked out a pool workout, I went for a
two-m run just to shake out the legs and
stay ready when I'm back in New York
City. A little time on feet here can
make a big difference once I'm back in
training mode. By noon, I noticed the
iPhone Air's battery dipping faster than
expected. To be fair, I had downloaded a
bunch of apps, hopped on and off of
Wi-Fi, and shot a ton of photos and
video. That type of stuff really drains
the phone, especially when you're
traveling. Plus, since this is a brand
new device, it's also doing a lot of
background work and things like indexing
photos and syncing iCloud. So, it makes
sense the battery is working overtime
right now. It's one of those things
that's fine at home, but when you're on
a trip, you'll notice it a lot more. All
right, so I have a few observations that
I've made while running with the iPhone
Air. The first observation is it's
incredibly light. That's pretty obvious,
but even more obvious and glaring when I
went on this run with the iPhone Air
that I'm shooting right now. For one,
it's so light. I don't need to put it
inside my running shorts pockets. I love
that it's a 6.7 in display, so it can
actually fit in my running shorts
pockets. The Pro Max is way too big. It
really only fits in my compression
shorts and compression pants, which are
really meant for gels and not
necessarily a foam pocket. But then it's
so light I can hold it in my hand.
Another observation that I made is it's
hard to tell if I tapped the camera
control without being hyper aware about
it. And a big part of that is because I
don't think the camera control is the
most useful accessible location. But
also the haptics are not as strong. So
it's hard to know if you accidentally
tapped the camera. One more thing I
promise because probably don't sound the
best. Feel like I'm out of shape even
though it's only been like 2 days since
I ran. But this 80° and humidity in
Hawaii is no joke. I'm definitely
missing the ultra wide camera lens.
During times like this when I'm running,
grab the scenery, grab myself, get a
light, nice little POV.
I like using ultra wide. It sucks that I
can't, but I guess one X would do.
[Music]
After the workout and run, I headed over
to Wherers's Village, partly because I'm
running out of clothes, but also just to
check on some of the local spots outside
the hotel. I never go to a mall in New
York City because we have outdoor
shopping and actual local boutiques that
are way better and you have just much
better drip than a mall. But in this
case, I almost ran out of clothes, so I
figured I'd hop over to Whalers Village
is what they call it. But it's not just
a mall. It's also the place you can go
for essentials out to eat. and you still
have a nice view of the water.
I met with the guys for lunch at
Leilani's. This cozy Hawaiian restaurant
tucked at the back of the plaza right on
the beach. Halfway through, I checked my
phone and saw the iPhone Air had already
dropped below 20%. And at that point, I
knew there was no way it was lasting the
whole day. All right, so we got 19%
battery life with a little over 3 hours
of screen time. 3 hours and 1 minute.
I did download quite a few apps this
morning, so I think I frontloaded a lot
of the usage and power earlier. Max says
he has how much battery life?
Mine is 47 right now.
47.
Yeah.
I think the tricky thing with these Dana
videos is you try your best to not be a
power user, which I typically am, but
it's almost impossible because I'm going
to show you guys a bunch of different
use cases, downloading apps, running
maps, bunch of screen time,
and also testing the camera. But I got
30% less battery life. So maybe it just
needs time to calibrate or whatever. How
long have you been using it for?
I've been using it since launch day, so
Friday. About a week.
I got to cover.
I'm at 2 hours and 58 minutes of screen
time.
Do you have for 2 hours 50 minutes of
screen time?
They changed the battery metric so I
can't see what it is after I charged it
to 100%.
How much battery life left do you have?
How much? I have 65%.
65%.
But I think it's I use my phone a little
bit in the middle when I was on the
an hour.
I
screen on time's a bad metric. I was
like using AirPods and Apple Watch and
all that other stuff.
It was really good.
I don't know. It didn't have much of a
banana taste though, but it was like a
weird
more mango than anything else, but it
was really good.
I'm going to have to run that back
tonight. Yeah.
Good call.
Fresh.
Yeah, exactly.
Can't beat that.
Can I also have a bento box, please?
doesn't even use it.
My only thought is that it was hanging
off this way. I think it was
[Music]
there.
After lunch, we stopped at Island
Vintage Coffee because if you know me,
you know whenever I visit a new place.
My number one goal is hit as many cafes
as possible. It's my way of expanding my
coffee palette, you could say, while
really stepping into the local culture.
We also swung by Maui Gym, the sunglass
brand that started right here in Lelay
Hyena back in the 80s. Their frames had
this cool laid-back vibe that felt like
Stusy meets Oakley.
[Music]
These are cool.

Miles had been wanting to grab Hawaiian
shaped ice, so we dropped by a local
spot called Beachwalk Cowca. Perfect
spot for some views and fresh ocean
breeze because honestly, we were getting
cooked in that sun. By around 400 pm, my
iPhone air was officially dead.
No, maybe not. It's just some like
reflection on the on the edge.
It's a nasty scratch. It's ceramic
shield. It used to No, I thought maybe
you can rub it off. No.
All right. I just realized I got the
nastiest scratch on the back of my
iPhone Air and we've been daily driving
it for 1 day. caseless about 50% of the
time. But I was not expecting this to
scratch so bad this fast. Needless to
say, I'm pretty disappointed. But if I
were you, I would go with the is it
frost color? Is that what it's frost or
white or sky blue? Cuz the scratch the
scratches would just be a lot less
noticeable.
Yeah. Yeah.
The white, blue, and gold are all
different shades.
After shaved ice, I headed back to the
room and grabbed the MagSafe battery
pack. If you're thinking about picking
up the iPhone Air, I'd highly recommend
it. Fun fact, the pack actually shares
the same design as the battery inside
the iPhone Air itself. As sunset started
to set, I grabbed a few more shots I
know I'll love looking back on and made
my way back to the beach for one last
sunset swim in Hawaii. All in all, the
iPhone Air performed pretty much as
expected. The battery lasted almost a
full day and I do think it'll get better
as iOS continues to optimize. The 1X and
2X cameras gave me great results, though
I definitely missed having an ultra wide
in a place as scenic as Hawaii. Log
video would have been nice, but it
wasn't a dealbreaker. Image
stabilization both with and without the
enhanced option was solid for the rear
cameras and also the center stage
front-facing camera. The phone did run
hot a few times, but only in the plateau
where the logic board sits, which was
pretty much expected. At the end of the
day, this is a phone for someone who
values portability and size above
everything else. But if you need more
endurance and stronger rear cameras, the
Pro Max is still the better choice. For
me, the iPhone Air has been one of the
most unique devices I've ever traveled
with. Light, comfortable, and a reminder
of just how far Apple can push design.
All right, so that wraps up today's
video. I'm going to be enjoying this
last sunset here in Maui for my first
ever trip to Hawaii. It is beyond
gorgeous and I hope this video was able
to showcase even just a little bit of
how wonderful Hawaii is and my
experience using the iPhone Air. With
that said, I'll see you guys in the next
one. Be sure to give this video a thumbs
up if you want to see an actual full
comprehensive review. Comment below some
of your thoughts. Do you think the
iPhone Air is practical for your
everyday user? Or do you think less
battery life and not having an ultra
wide is something you're unwilling to
compromise?
