Mirra Andreeva vs. Sonay Kartal ｜ 2025 Beijing Round of 16 ｜ WTA Match Highlights).

Top class tennis and you wouldn't expect Cartel to come out on too many of those. Yeah, always dangerous. The net call didn't do any good. It might not be needed. Pulls that horribly. It all went wrong under pressure for the world number five. The number four seed has been given the shock of her life here. Needs to improve in the second set but in truth Sonny Cartel is playing some very high level tennis. Takes the set 7-5. drop shot near the end for Cartel when she finally got ahead in the point. Not finished yet. Cartel makes the unforced error to concede the second set. So a little bit more normality restored in terms of the rankings. Sonny Cartel continues to play in excess of her ranking of 81. long. So close. What a point on match point. It's out. Sonny Cartel has caused another seismic event in Beijing. Jeremy Bates almost looks as stunned as most of us here. The world number 81 defeats Mira Andreeva the number four seed. The first big seed to go. A tumbling out of the Beijing event. And it's such a pinch me kind of moment. It is for her too.
