Choosing Slowness in a Fast World | Baking Bread, Sewing & Simple Living

In this video, I'm spending quiet hours baking homemade whole-grain bread, sewing two new blouses from my sewing plans, and enjoying the calm of simple routines.
Life here in the countryside moves gently, and I’m learning to move with it.
This isn’t about doing less; it’s about doing things with care. From the sound of the sewing machine to the smell of bread cooling on the counter, each small moment becomes a reminder to live at my own pace.
If you enjoy slow living, handmade projects, and peaceful storytelling, I hope this video brings you a little stillness too.

The mornings here feel like time forgot to hurry.
It's quiet enough to hear what I'm thinking.
Maybe that's what choosing slowness really is.
Not changing everything.
Just letting the world move without chasing it.
I guess that's how most things go for me now.
I start, pause, come back when I feel like it.
Some projects take days, others wait their turn for weeks.
I used to think that meant I wasn't disciplined enough.
But maybe it just means I'm letting things grow at their own pace.
The sweater that I'm crocheting will be done when it's done.
And that's enough.
Everything around me moves at its own rhythm.
I think I'm learning to move that way too.
So
These blouses are part of my sewing plans.
Three pieces from the list.
I have been slowly crossing off.
The one on the mannequin is already finished.
Almost.
I still need to fix the sleeve shape and add shoulder pants.
But for now it's resting there.
Today I'm working on the other two.
I cut both fabrics from the same pattern.
So I'm sewing them side by side.
I set up both machines.
One threaded for the light blue, the other for the green.
It's not about hurrying.
It's about keeping the flow.
Finding small ways to make the work smoother, not faster.
I did some more sewing after baking the breads.
But I didn't finish the blouses.
The collars and sleeves will wait.
Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after.
No one's rushing me.
And still I'm glad that I found a way to move gently forward.
Thank you for spending this slow day with me.
Mickey Mao says thank you too.
And we'll see you in the next one.
