Martinez Magic! West Ham Fight Back To Beat Brighton - Subway Women's League Cup Highlights 25-26
The Subway Women's League Cup could provide West Ham United with the impetus they need at the start
of this season. It is a competition that so far has been pretty nice for them, but in the league
things are not looking quite so rosy. And for Brighton and Hove Albion the same could be said
of course with some tarns up front though that can change games. That Anjabank name may well
drive them forward tonight. Toward Walsh who launches it forward. Kovacic was initially challenging for it.
It's a smart pass and now to the edge of the penalty area come Brighton once more. It's a nice strike.
It's off the post towards Camacho. Oh and it somehow got past the goalkeeper.
Second goal of the season for Camacho and Megan Walsh will be very very frustrated with herself.
Carla Camacho and her teammates not frustrated. It's a lovely strike to hit the post and then
able to bundle the ball home.
Angie again towards Ajaman on this right hand side. West Ham getting some bodies back
with Ajaman onto that left boot. Might try and hit one from here. Does hit one from here but
can't quite curl it home. Well she's capable from that range no question. A little shuffle
bought herself some space but wide of goal. A bit dangerous. Very dangerous. Big chance for Brighton.
Very very good stop from Walsh this time. Made herself big. Got it stopped well and now here
come West Ham. It's a strong challenge. It's not going to matter. The through ball is an interesting
one and now a massive chance for West Ham to equalize. It's all a bit messy. It has been dealt
with well from one end to the other. Big chance for Martinez there. Fantastic through ball as well from
Pujubel. Corner edge of the six yard box. The punch from Bagley is not convincing. It's put back
into a dangerous area and it's swept home by Serena Pujubel. It was simple enough. Bagley leaps
for it. Doesn't get a convincing touch on it. A few have given up on it. Pujubel side footed home.
Smart touch to his left hand side and Ajaman will pick it up. That's a smart open boot pass
through to the edge of the penalty area. Brighton in a dangerous position. It's a decent strike.
In the end fairly comfortably saved. The pressure applied and pressure may well tell here and here
comes West Ham once again. There is an option to this right hand side. That option has been taken
and it somehow just about stayed out. Bagley got down well. Just managed to drop the arm between
the legs there. West Ham again into a dangerous position. Again towards the byline.
Created a couple of opportunities. It's been blocked and it's been finished.
Shakira Martinez with a goal. She can add that to her assist in the first half. Brilliant block
as well from I think Ueki who just threw her body in the way of the clearance. It popped down
towards Martinez who can sweep it in. Has been better from her side tonight for sure.
Here come Brighton. Still in this game. Still very much in this game.
Strike from range which is superbly saved. Khafaji almost beating Walsh.
The 22 year old though denied. That's a really good strike. Launched over the halfway line. That
will be the last action. It could be a big moment for West Ham United. Not just in the
Subway Women's League Cup but in the league itself. It finishes West Ham 2 Brighton 1.
