Collin (11th grader and class of 2027) got invited to the Kohl's National Scholarship Camp in Gatlinburg, TN. This is their annual camp where they invite all the best kickers from around the country to come and compete/get evaluated over a 2 day period with 3 charting sessions. All the other Kohl's Showcase camps we have gone to have just 1 charting session. This was our 1st time at this camp. Collin had to overcome some bad kicks and mental struggles but ended up having a great camp overall hitting new PR's in both field goal and kickoff!

Get there, get there, get there.
Life of a kicker, right?
You've got to have a short memory.
You miss a kick, you get a little mental,
you gotta be able to scrap that.
I told you you were gonna get that PR today.
This is a really talented camp.
There's a lot of guys gonna go play
college football from this camp.
Barely.
Yeah, he squeezed in, that's all that matters.
Good work, good work.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my life, yeah.
On the bright side.
Yeah, this music here became my only lifeline.
Think I'm going crazy, I'm not in my right mind.
On the bright side.
Yeah, yeah, hey.
Yeah, one leg out that brand new Benz way.
Hometown, asking am I rich, yeah.
Repetition from my chest, that's a bench press.
Seeing more behind the frame, future driver feel the shake.
Thinking ain't nobody feel the way I do,
but someone gotta feel the same.
Yeah, on the bright side.
Yeah, this music here became my only lifeline.
Think I'm going crazy, I'm not in my right mind, yeah.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my life, yeah.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my.
All right, we're here.
We're at the big showcase, the National Scholarship Camp.
It's invite only.
It is a big camp.
We did get here last night and got checked in.
I'll show you that little clip right here.
And then this morning,
we started early with a quick introduction
and Jamie Cole, the owner said,
this is the largest camp in his history.
Over a thousand kids here.
We were in there just then with just the class of 2027
and it was packed out.
There's tons of kids.
Reminding you guys, this is gonna be foundational
for two days that you know are on this call.
You probably got some bad moments
where you live in the moment,
you go with a couple of bad staff,
a bad kid, a bad mom,
and you go out there and do the best job you can.
Field goals, we're gonna be using
the college athletics this year.
Obviously, kick off the block.
We're gonna be a little harder for you.
All these kids are gonna be farther back.
You guys can come all out in the recordings
and see where you're at.
Some of you guys are fighting for the top spots
in your classes.
Some of you guys have said,
man, I just wanna prove that I'm really a good,
high school player right now
that is working towards that next step.
Everybody's coming here with different goals.
Some of you have no idea.
You're gonna find out.
So anyway, it's a big honor just to be here.
Excited, Collin has done great.
You know, he's been working with Alex McPherson,
the Auburn University kicker.
He's made some little tweaks and improvements.
He's been kicking great.
We're excited.
Looking forward to a good showcase, a good experience.
It's two days, so there's three different charting.
We're used to only doing one charting at those showcases.
We get three different charting this morning,
this afternoon, and then tomorrow morning.
So we're going over right now, let him warm up.
We'll do the first one.
How do you feel, Collin?
I'm ready.
He's ready.
A little nervous, a little excited.
100% healthy, man.
We feeling good, feeling strong?
All right, we're just trying to beat the last one.
All right, we did good at the last one.
That four-star Collin, that's who we're competing against,
not these other kids.
Just this is where you come and improve.
You come to get better.
You come and compete against yourself.
So we're just here to compete against the four-star Collin,
try to work our way up to that four-and-a-half star
and maybe get some rankings.
All right, Collin, go be great, baby.
Let's do it.
So Collin's gonna start on the shorter field goals.
He got five on this side, five on the other.
Unfortunately, he's starting with the farthest kick
from the shorter side.
He'll be from 45.
Quick note, they're using college field goals,
so they're narrower.
So you gotta be more accurate today.
Good ball, Collin.
Good ball.
Good kick.
Great job.
Attaboy, Collin.
Just went five for five on those.
Stroking them.
Now we go from the longer distance.
Man, he's got a strong leg right now.
Just keep it rolling.
Block is gonna be 60.
Yeah, we'll get you set up.
That's the white line.
Collin.
Oh, just short.
Get there, get there, get.
Yes, sir.
He pushed it.
All right, so a little tougher from the further distance.
He had to go back from 60 since he has a T.
Very close on that first one.
Just a little short.
Great kick.
The last time he kicked the 60,
just pushed a little bit.
Still pretty solid kick.
So he missed the two 60 yarders,
and then he just missed that 47.
Just kind of pulled it a little bit.
But overall, good.
Seven for 10.
Didn't make any bonus balls.
That kind of stinks.
But still, his leg looks good.
Pretty darn straight,
especially with those narrower goals.
Let's go see what's next.
Look at Mr. Kicker right here.
He dialed it in today, baby.
Just missed that first 60.
I thought you had it.
And then...
He's gonna give me that 49.
I know.
It's all right.
Hey, good job.
It's exciting.
Time for some kickoffs.
That was like 60, 61?
63.
Okay.
Couldn't really tell.
So 63 was the best.
Here we go.
Day one, round two.
So we had about a five hour break,
which is nice.
We've not had that in the past.
It's always like, bam, bam, bam.
You go from one to the next,
but it's kind of spread out over two days.
So it's kind of nice.
So we'll go do the exact same charting,
which again,
we've never done the exact same charting back to back.
So we'll do the same exact charting.
He'll keep the same field goals,
and then we'll go to the kickoffs again.
So this will be good,
because he's already done it once.
Now he does have to go back and warm up
because it's been five hours,
but we went back to the room,
kind of rest a little bit,
got some lunch,
just chilled,
did the massage again a little bit.
So we'll get back out here.
He'll warm back up.
All right, round two.
Here we go.
Stretching out.
Started doing some speed drills,
kind of some of those atomic drills,
some pogo's,
maybe some bounding.
Oh!
That was good.
Take some frustration out on that ball.
That's some PRs right there.
I don't remember what my first one was,
but second one was 71,
second, or third one was 72,
last one was 73.
Yeah, it hit the,
literally it hit the concrete.
All right, start of day two.
So we've finished up day one,
as you saw in the video.
Colin did finish strong with some kickoffs,
although didn't have a whole lot to say
about the second charting on field goal,
just off to a bad start
and just never got it dialed back in,
but that's kicking.
That's the life of a kicker, right?
You've got to have a short memory.
You miss a kick,
you get a little mental,
you gotta be able to scrap that,
figure out what you do wrong,
make the correction,
get back at it.
That's what we're doing today.
A fresh morning,
fresh start.
Feels about like what it did yesterday morning,
and he had a great session yesterday morning
in the same type of condition.
So we're out here,
we're warming up.
Got to get that third charting,
the second day today,
and then that kind of wraps it up.
We do the field goal,
and then we will do the kickoffs,
and that's pretty much it.
That's a wrap.
All right, Colin,
let's go get it dialed in.
Let's cheer him on, guys.
Good start.
Good.
Colin.
Good.
Colin, kick number four.
Wide left.
Colin, last kick.
Good.
No good, wide left.
Good.
That's good.
Yes.
Ah, pulled it.
I told you you were going to get that PR today.
Get that 60, baby.
Yes.
That was a great kick.
You've been wanting that one for a while.
Good job.
Good redemption round right there.
Oh, he kind of knuckled that one.
Colin's trying to figure out what happened,
because on the charts from yesterday,
it said his first field goal,
scores were incomplete.
They didn't have anything,
so we're not sure what happened,
but at least he kicked better on the second.
So he may be kicking another round.
He just kicked that round,
but they were backed up,
so I really couldn't tell what the yardages were.
I don't know if he was kicking further or not.
I guess we're about to find out,
and to see if he needs to kick again.
So what'd they say?
I was telling them about how-
The incomplete?
Yeah.
And he said, he was like,
which field did you chart on?
I was like, I charted on this one yesterday.
He killed one, and he was like,
**** this, like after they chart these guys.
Well, I know they backed you all up a little bit,
so I don't know what your scores were,
what your distance is.
Yeah, I got 66 and then 70.
Did you really?
Awesome, with no wind and rain, baby.
It's raining.
Yeah.
Good ball.
73, 74.
In recruiting circles,
this next 12 months is probably the most important
of your whole journey.
It's going to be, hopefully,
a fun and exciting situation.
So now the real question is,
is what can I do to separate myself,
to get college coaches interested?
What should I be doing?
And a lot of those important questions that you guys have.
That's why you're here.
This is potentially a dream of yours.
Now the difference between what you guys are facing
and what they faced five years ago
is the roster cut down.
New rules are basically a roster size
of 105, 85 scholarship.
So for you guys,
just anticipate six people in a row.
Two kickers, two punters,
and two snappers is generally the rule.
This is a really talented camp.
There's a lot of guys going to go play
college football from this camp.
But the one thing I will tell you is,
there's a couple of things.
One, where can you play early?
Because I see tremendous, tremendous value
in college football by playing early.
You're guaranteed to play early.
I see value maybe in taking that other opportunity
where you can get game film
and actually hit the portal
and get a big payday,
sophomore, junior, senior year.
You go to a big school,
it's preferred walk-on.
There's a real chance in that room of two,
they may scholarship somebody over you,
and now you got no experience.
And now you're looking around,
you're going to hit the portal
and you're going to have a hard time
finding anything equitable.
You're going down instead of up.
You don't have the grades that stop everything
because nothing else is going to get you in.
So being able to understand
where you're at athletically,
where you're at academically,
that helps you find some of those schools.
I do feel the bar is higher than ever before.
That's why we went to college uprights.
You guys have to be ready immediately.
It's not fun and games.
You got to be ready.
It's exciting because you can use
the next five years of college football
to actually make money
that you never had an opportunity to do.
Literally, you're a professional at that point.
That should excite a lot of you.
That opportunity never existed before.
When we talked to a lot of our college guys,
Power Four guys,
that's kind of the average kicker salary now.
Between $100,000 and $150,000 this upcoming season.
It's a fun adventure.
You got to keep it fun.
It's not easy.
If you think it's going to be easy,
that's probably going to be one of the things
that gets you out of here quicker,
is you won't have the mental fortitude
to fight through the bad times.
Because not every day is going to go your way.
It's just, it's life, man.
I wish it would.
I really do.
I wish everybody could have a great day.
It'd be sunny, never rain.
You know, I mean, that'd be wonderful.
But what are you going to do long-term from here?
There has to be an idea,
a realization of where you're at.
Where can you get to?
What is your path going to be?
Do you want to keep doing this?
Because if you don't, man,
just have fun in high school.
All right, three remain,
and now it's back to 63.
I knew it.
I knew it was 64.
All right, I haven't made it yet.
63.
Three left.
Oh!
That was far.
All right, everybody made it,
so going again.
Oh, nice.
Nope.
All right, there's your win.
Five-oh.
Nobody can hang with him.
Champion.
All right, so four, five, six
may be qualified for the kickoff finals.
Big ball wins.
Kicking from the 30, so,
to the end zone, 70.
67.
107 with his hang time.
66.
107 total score.
Oh, no, he didn't have a hang time.
69, but didn't have a hang time.
70.
Gotta be the score of 107.
Oh, he didn't have the hang time.
68, didn't have it.
Got a tie between these two.
Who can keep the biggest?
Pretty good ball.
74.
110 is his total score.
All right, what have we got?
Pretty good.
72.
110?
Tied.
All right, tiebreaker.
Number three.
Good kick.
72.
108 score.
72.
109, got him by a little hang time.
All right, well, that's a wrap.
We watched the final competitions there,
and Jamie speaking, you know,
I'll have part of that
that you guys have probably just watched
about him just talking about the next level.
You know, as juniors,
all that group, by the way,
was class of 2027.
I tried to do a little bit of a pan.
Don't know how much it showed,
but there were a ton,
just 2027 kickers, snappers, punters.
But anyways, he's talking about
just how vital these next few months are.
Now till May,
so to the end of the season in the spring,
to have a good junior year.
And then, you know,
kind of the recruiting process and all that.
So it's really good information
that he was giving.
So we'll kind of see.
Obviously, we want the season to go well,
and that's what Kyle and I were talking
to his buddy James down in Venice.
You know, James didn't do as well
as he knows he could.
We just talked about, you know,
like this is a good learning experience.
You know, you're going out here,
you're competing.
You know, there's pressure situations,
and about getting better, improving,
and just continue to work towards your journey
of becoming the best that you possibly can be.
Colin, you know,
you had to have a bounce back day today.
How'd that go?
Definitely did pretty good to finish it off.
No, yesterday, second session,
field goal was kind of killing me,
but did pretty good today.
I got a seven again,
but I'm making a 60.
Seven points, yeah,
seven points out of a 12 possible.
I got that 60.
That was huge, man.
That was a PR,
and that was a big kick.
Hit the top of that crossbar.
So that crossbar is higher
than all the other ones.
So if you hit it,
regardless of where it hit,
that was good.
And so really that was good for 61 at least,
because I mean,
that was like probably a foot and a half above.
So that was awesome.
That was very exciting.
And on college,
narrow goal post.
So that was even more impressive.
And then kickoff,
I mean,
you had a strong kickoff today too, right?
67 and 70?
It wasn't nearly any,
like, barely win.
Yeah, that was no win.
We had the win assistance the day before.
Did you know your hang time yet on those?
We don't know total score.
I think my 70 was probably three six.
Overall, you know,
great experience again.
You know,
and I think one of the beneficial things was
even though that second session
of day one didn't go great,
that just shows you have to have the mental game
to be able to bounce back,
have that short memory,
forget about, you know,
the bad kicks or whatever,
and got to regroup, refocus,
and go out there and kick good.
And not only did he go kick a PR yesterday
after the kickoff,
on kickoff after not doing great on field goals,
then comes back today
and gets a PR on field goals.
So that's great.
That'll hopefully boost the mental confidence
and, you know,
just confident in his ability.
And, you know,
things are not always going to go perfect.
I was going to have an A ball.
So you got to be able to bounce back
and make that next one.
So excited about that.
And we'll see how results pan out
and the rankings and all that.
Don't really know.
We'll have to wait
and see how it goes.
But regardless,
pretty excited about the season,
aren't you?
Yeah. Yeah.
He has said multiple times,
man, I'm excited for the season.
And we're going to,
we're going to have a good year.
We're, we're,
we're looking forward to it.
So I hope you guys follow along,
see how the journey continues.
So we kind of wrap up the summer.
We'll be in the fall football practice
and games just around the corner.
So you guys follow along.
Let's see how the junior year goes for Colin.
See what kind of path guys got him on.
Thanks again for following along guys,
all your support,
your love,
all your new followers.
We appreciate you following along
and guess what we're about to go do?
Hop on an airplane,
fly to our family down in Orlando for yes.
The family vacay down in Orange Lake
where we're competing with all the rest of the family.
So it should be fun.
So you guys tune into that as well.
Love you guys.
Got that four and a half
and now I'm officially ranked kid.
He squeezed in.
That's all that matters.
Good work.
Pretty exciting, man.
We scroll down and we squeezed in baby.
Right here.
Eric, David.
Eric.
And Steven Gonzalez-Santez.
And then you have, you know,
just bazillions after that that are not even ranked.
So it's huge.
Huge accomplishment.
Subscribe.
My man, Murr Squad.
Let's go.
Shout out to the boys.
Welcome to my life.
